MARK MAKING WITH INK AND FOUND OBJECTS

- In this video I explore different ways and techniques to make marks with random items and found objects such as cardboard, old packaging, string and an old credit card. I dip them into Indian ink and watered down acrylic paint.

Impressive. Love everything but I’m especially amazed at all the marks you made with the card. I was tempted to fast forward so I could find out what you used for the pine needles, which may be my favorite. Could hardly believe those came from the card, too 💕❤️💕 Thanks!

Another fab vid! Especially loved the unmixed paint triangles with the credit card and the pentel plastic wrapper.
Its great to take an object and test out every possibility of marks it can make. On its corners, sides, edges, base, top. Drag, roll, flick, dab, dot. I like how you said try it at different speeds too. Gonna try that. Also brilliant tip about the taped handle. Never seen that suggested before.

Hi Helen..You have no idea what an inspiration you are!! I've made up a few small one page small sketchbooks following your tutorial & now ready to dive in & decorate...and thats where I've stopped. After watching this video, I'm raiding my recycling, getting out my bottles of colourful unused inks that I've hidden away somewhere (purchased a couple of years ago as I liked the colours) & spending an hour or two experimenting with marks. Many thanks from a longtime sculptor, toymaker, designer, who most recently has been drawn by the sirens call to splash paint on canvas. What a wonderful doorway you have opened to finding a way in...to finding what sparks a flame, without regard for anything other than what might find its way to the page, perhaps a compelling stroke, or a harmonious composition in the midst of all the rambling marks, somehow serendipitously appearing out of nowhere. SO inspired!!!! This is also similar to how I do my mark marking/painted papers. Just see how I feel and go with what feels right. An empty paracetamol package gave me some amazing results ☺

This is Fascinating to me, Helen! I Love your creative processes! I Just moved to another place recently and found a folder in one of my boxes, full of loose paper - and wasn’t sure what to do with it all…I hate any kind of paper to go to waste so.. after seeing your mark making video, Now I have a Wonderful and adventurous direction I can go with it!
