  • Some videos of my first HPDE at Virginia International Raceway in my 2005 Mustang GT. Recorded 2:25 as fastest lap.
    This is a 4.6L 3v motor with a 5 speed manual
Vehicle is equipped with the Maximum motorsports road and track grip kit.
    315/30/18 Toyo R888rs on 18x11 Apex Ec-7 wheels.
Tuned and has high flow cats and an x pipe.
    Motor is stock.
4 pot brembos with EBC blue stuff pads in the front and ebs yellow in the rear.
Stainless steel brake lines and Motul 600 dot 4 fluid.
Ford Performance One piece aluminum driveshaft
    4.10 gear ratio
Cooltech Racing bolt in roll bar
Boss 302 Rear seat delete with cross brace.
Car has a full interior aside from the trunk being gutted.
I was very happy with the overall experience. The only noticeable issue with my car was the 4.10 gear ratio combined with a short tire on an 18 in wheel was that i ran out of gear and had to shift into 5th at around 110 mph. The car could also benefit from brake cooling ducts.

Love seeing 3V Mustangs on track. 2:25 is very respectable for your first HPDE. You are either a natural or had very good instructor (an email thanking him/her is never a bad idea). Keep coming out, and visit (or join) TMO if you have any questions on preparing your Pony for track battle.

Thanks! I wasn't going in completely blind to road course driving. I had a good amount of head knowledge and have been lucky enough to get to ride with some very experienced drivers and learn from them. This event was my first time getting to really do it myself. Looking forward to the next one and getting to improve on some areas I lacked. And luckily already part of TMO.

I need to finish my interior upgrade (new seats, carpet, etc.) so I can get it up and on the track. Love VIR!!! Nice work on the 2:25 too!

How do you like your wheel and tire set up? Do you have any issues with rubbing the fenders,.. especially on the fronts? I have the same suspension set up and I'm worried the 18x11 wheel with the 315 tires will rub all the time so I'm considering going with the 18x10 instead.

No issues at all. But you will need camber. I started with just about -2.25 and then bumped it up to -3. Had no issues with either. But as long as you have the proper offset and camber you'll be good. I can turn full tilt and doesn't rub ever even under compression. This is an extremely common track setup for the s197 and s550. It's the widest square set up you can run.

@@tjmustang12 Thanks for the info! I'm assuming you are using a spacer upfront with new wheel studs correct?

@@christopherdunn6310 precisely. 25 mm hub centric spacer and arp extended wheel studs.

did you do a hood scoop delete and added the vents or this is a new hood ?

    • @tjmustang12
      @tjmustang12  Рік тому

It's a stock hood. It never had a scoop on it. Not all of them did. But I did add the heat extractor vents

@@tjmustang12 nice ! It looks really good without the scoop ! I find the scoop is to small !
For the vents did you actually cut holes in your hood to make them real vents ?
