Watch Scarlett and her constant watching of Roman Griffin Davis (her son in the movie). She is smiling and joyful and protective of him like a real mother. You can really see her connection with him. It's really beautiful and heartwarming. Much respect for Scarlett.
So true. And i saw lately 2 movies with her: marriage stories and jojo rabbit and find myself wondering if her motherhood gave her that super deep and authentic presence? Really great performances.
Ok, so, this audience *just* watched the film and now gets to see and listen to the director and cast?! How forking amazing must the energy in the room have been? Wow. I saw it again yesterday when I took a somewhat reluctant friend who was completely won over and now also wants to see it again; as I did. I just wanted to share such an experience, and it was an experience, with someone I cared about. The main thing I tried to convey was that it's a story about a boy. And that was reiterated to me when my friend, who had been influenced by negative twitterverse feedback. When it was over, he said " it's a story about a boy". It's such a tremendous film.
I remember when Tom Holland said Taika is the funniest person he ever meet.... I'm glad he's getting the opportunity to make his crazy dreams come true.
Scarlett's character reminded me of the dad in Life is Beautiful and I think most parents does this where they still want their kid to remain a kid in harsh time. While there are some parents that want their kid to grow up fast so they could protect themselves.
True, they share the wish for their kids to not grow too fast. But contrary to the father in "Life is beautiful", Rosie does not try to hide the violence of the world... When they go past the executed rebels, she does not make a joke or make Jojo close his eyes (like the Father in "Life is beautiful" would have probably done). She forces him to watch. Quite a fundamental difference.
His physicality and the way he moves reminds me so much of Tony Azito and his performance in the movie "The Pirates of Penzance" he's all elbows and knees.
And now this film could be an Oscar contender after winning the People's Choice Award. Way to Taika, you have brought a lot of pride to New Zealand today 👏🏻👏🏻
I don't think so. Taika Waititi's "Two Cars, One Night" was nominated for "Best Live Action Short Film". Maybe, the Academy nominate him for "Best Adapted Screenplay". For me, the great candidates are: "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood"; "The Lighthouse" ("Best Actor in a Leading Role" (Dafoe) and "Best Original Screenplay" (Robert Eggers, Max Eggers) nominations); "Joker" (especially for "Best Actor in a Leading Role", for Joaquin Phoenix); and "The Irishman". Maybe, the Oscar for Best Directing goes to Tarantino, and the Oscar for Best Picture goes to "Joker". Or the two awards go to "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood" (among others awards). The Academy is unpredictable.
@@jordyharlem Hahahahahah. Thank you for giving me such importance! Luckily I have a life and I don't spend days answering comments! Taika is thanking you for your defense right now! By the way, I never said that Taika did not deserve the Oscar. I said "Maybe, the Academy nominate him for Best Adapted Screenplay." And I was right. He won it for that category. So I was not wrong. Good life!

I absolutely adore Tikia! You can feel that he’s a bit awkward at the beginning but at the same time he’s made this beautiful thing and is able to articulate the message about dismantling learned hate so well.
The TV show is very good, I got introduced to his films via Hunt For The Wilderpeople and kept an eye on his films from there, Thor Ragnarok is now my favourite movie
I just love that now, whenever I hear Taika speak, I visualize Korg. And that is a great thing. He seems such a likable cuss you want to succeed - just like Korg.

Love that movie!

Too bad she died by the Nazis, just like him.
aaaww! I haven't watch it yet and don't know much about it - but if you compared it to Life Is Beautiful" than it is a beautiful movie!

taika waititi is a very likeable human being.
Taika’s hair is fabulous!
Any hair is fabulous 😎
(21:43) I love how you can still hear Roman and Thomasin's conversation in the end and him saying he needs to go toilet is literally everything haha
he should have listened to thomasin

Honestly Taika is just jack sparrow in the modern day
🤣
when Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson played charades and Chris did Jack Sparrow, Tessa's first guess was Taika.

With his hair like that and the mustache, Taika looks an awful lot like Charlie Chaplin.
He does have the exact same hair as Chaplin
you have no idea how unpretentiously i was happy to read this

Where is Archie Yates (that Yorkie kid with glasses)?
It's too late. Sleeping
Weird that the actors were made to stand awkwardly on the stage. Normally they're given chairs.
Oh dear - tearing up. Our mums and dads. To have a loving mother and father is something to be eternally grateful for.
Very true !
His mother brought him up very well. Very well, indeed.
Heard of this Taika guy before. But never seen him talking. He is necessarily
weird and crazy and fortunately, I like that.
Okey
I didn't notice any weirdness. I love his hair, though. That is some awesome hair. 😂
Taika Waititi, a truly showman.
I absolutely adore Tikia! You can feel that he’s a bit awkward at the beginning but at the same time he’s made this beautiful thing and is able to articulate the message about dismantling learned hate so well.
Wow - that summing up by Taika was special and so important. Can't wait to see the movie.
I don't know how but every time I just see or hear Taika speaking I feel way more better, he is incredible!
Che-hoo! We're super excited to see and support this film xo

First time hearing of this guy Taika. He seems nuts. I like him and will check out his other films.

His first film is Eagle vs Shark and was shot in my home town. SUCH a good movie. Very Taika and so cool to see his personality shine in Jojo.

scarlett johansson is so beautiful❤️❤️ I love every press/intervews she does always so smart and kind❤️
Taika well done mate this era should never be forgotten good work
I think it's fitting that Taika looks a lot like Kurt Vonnegut at this event while presenting such an impactful story.
Wow...imagine Vonnegut adapted to screen by Taika! He could do it in a right way
Bitter-sweet with weird humour
I love that you can hear the kids talking at the end
Such eloquence from cast & director. What a special movie.

That’s a huge no
He should make a goodhearted sad-happy comedy about single mums
Heaps of amazing women could do that, too.
.... that's literally what this movie is
The kid who played Yorki had more screen time than some of them. So he should be here... he stole every scene he was in...
I f**king love this film
