The sentai dog with the sun glasses kills me every time.

The more I watch these, the more I find myself appreciating the effort PR put into their PR Only Footage
SS: doggie “Jigoku no banken” Kruger, Finishing move is being surrounded by flames.
SPD: doggie Kruger “shadow ranger”, finishing move is being surrounded by shadowy bluish flames
Both are badass and fitting for their stories.
One ranger, against a 100 minion robots and then one monster, has to be one of the best scenes PR produced.
Kruger is one of my favorite Rangers of all time.

Sentai: badass unflappable leader for the sake of badass unflappable leader who's here just to kick ass, wear shades, and be cool
Rangers: Badass Stoic leader who's here because this has long sense been personal and he's going to show just why he survived all the shit he's been through and get answers.
Shadow ranger was one of the best rangers in the entire power ranger series 😍
The one thing I always gave spd was having the mentor actually be a badass. Zordon, princess shayla, the commanders from time force and lightspeed; they were good MENTORS, but never really joined the battle. Tommy I always considered more just another member of the team during dino thunder- so i always give big props to this season for their leader taking to the field in this iteration!

Gotta love the differences between the two, in terms of censoring, pace, color grading, and generally, design. While I do sort of prefer the PR Doggie, SS Doggie seems more like a bad ass with those shades, and seems more insane knowing he deflected a bullet and aimed it at a thin piece of rope, rather than, a sparkler, thing.
Idk how anyone can get over SS doggie being so badly designed. The costume is horrible.

@antoniolayton7237 John Tui killed his role as Doggie. Plus, it wasn't just voice-over, in PR: SPD. He was the one inside the suit, if I remember correctly.
I think the SPD morph theme and the DekaMaster Morph worked well together.
Props to disney to adapting the sentai story to their own. So much better than the neo-saban era

Doggie Kruger, definitely one of the coolest mentors of PR.
The scene is so damn cool they barely even changed the footage, and I'm just fine with that.
I still love the PR scene, especially the personal vendetta enhancing the fight's context, but like with a lot of the PR series, it would be more impactful with less talking. The Neo-Saban series (particularly Samurai and MegaForce) REALLY get on my nerves because they can't shut up with all those puns.
When comparing both scene's Power Rangers was better than the super sentai on this instance. I mean Doggie was driven by revenege but how they made it SUPER personal made this interesting. Also it shows how he sticks to the code of SPD as police officers by not executing him but capturing him.
That’s because they censored it, Ben-G was executed in the Super Sentai version due to he receiving the judgment from Galaxy’s Supreme Court, there’s nothing cool it’s just cheap

I love the added context and personal weight added to the SPD version, plus Doggie's suit looking a tad cooler, but the Dekaranger one ain't no slouch! Especially with the voice talent. Like, fuck, the villain is voiced by the legend that is NOBUYUKI HIYAMA, which is sick enough as is

I saw the Sentai version first, and I can understand your sentiment.
Yet, I saw the PR version afterwards, and I really liked both. Since they have their own good merits.
I saw SPD first, I think i would give up after the first episodes of SPD if I started from Dekarangers. Congrats for enduring it

Now, I grew up with Power Rangers, and I adore the Sentai versions, generally thinking those end up better than the american version. Honestly, setting the Dog costume aside, I'd say this was a draw.
PR Pros:
- Slightly better effects (debatable. I personally prefer the blue/red flame over the pure red flame, and I'm going to chalk up the laser vs bullet effect and the fuse vs timer as difference in setting / censorship. I will say that the color correction made things look a bit nicer, but not by much.)
- Longer trash mob fight (which surprised me in a good way)
SS Pros:
- He knows how to keep his mouth shut, and let his sword do the talking, and comes off as more of a badass for it
- Longer fight scene with the main bad guy
I'm not going to touch the Kat vs Swan thing. This definitely shows Kat as the stronger of the two characters, and I prefer her from what's shown here, BUT I don't know Swan's backstory to judge properly, so I'm not gonna touch it.
As for plot reasons, I haven't seen Dekaranger, but it seems that they've built this guy up as a psychopathic mass murderer that got away. Same in PR (he murdered a whole planet), but the main reason for the fight is made to seem much more personal for PR Kruger.
Again, I have my preference, but since I haven't seen the whole of Dekaranger to judge properly, I'm not gonna touch it, since I can't judge it fairly/completely.
I think you need to just calm down and take a break from watching Power Rangers and Super Sentai, for a while. Maybe it's time that you start watching something else.
Swan was hinted to be in love with Doggie and care for him emotionally so basically sucked it up, she was like a mother to the team as well so her emotions came across that way, cross her and she would protect them, Kat is generic can't be shown as weak character.
Confirmed in the 10 years later Dekaranger movie as the two finally confess their love for each other. It is unstated until then.
A bit late, so maybe TheTrueDeraj won't see this, or won't care, but DekaSwan isn't given too much of a backstory. She's an SPD engineer who's an award-winning mechanical genius and not a field agent. She does not even like to use her suit. That is about all the backstory there is, except for a jealous former collegue who shows up at one point.

Agreed. This is the ranger in Magiranger X Dekaranger who was able to not only equal Wolzard in terms of being a master swordsman but also earned the corrupted Magiranger's respect and admiration.

I am split on this one. The american version added a bit more action with wire-fu to make Doggie look cool, but it is very clear here what the problem was. There is WAAAAAAY to much talking in Power Rangers. I know for a fact that writers said that they couldn't leave one moment of silence, as kids would not pay attention to the fights. So we got a lot of noise-pollution consisting of generic rock, hiyaas and stupid dialogue. In the japanese version however they know that silence can create suspense, and that really works for a lot of scenes. If you want me to compare the two series overall, I can't really pick a favourite. SPD was actually REALLY good during the first 10 episodes, and then became a mess. Dekaranger was a bit too episodic for me. I get that they were going for the cop-drama format. But it just doesn't for a 25 minute show about heroes in spandex fighting rubber suits.
Oh, believe me. If you thought the Disney-era had to much talking in their seasons, that's nothing compared to the Neo-Saban era. *shivers!!!*
Look I love SPD, grew up with it and it's easily on the best seasons. That being said, I would take Sentai's theme songs for its characters any day before a generic fighting music that they haven't even released so to at least enjoy it.
Fun fact, in the Japanese version of SPD, Tetsu Inada (who plays Kruger) also plays as his SPD counterpart.
Edit: Another funny thing, he plays Daggeron in Mystic Force’s Japanese dub too. Because John Tui (Anubis Cruger’s VA) is the actor for Daggeron.

Doggie Cruger was the best mentors I've seen till now. Always a fan of Power Rangers but Sentai Cruger.. gosh he's brutal. I mean, the shades, the base voice, the attitude everything.

I like the fact Doggie had shades, tossed them and then transformed before they hit the ground...then completely wrecked shop. I grew up with MMPR but the cheesy-ness of the series as it kept on wore on me..I tend to like the Sentai versions more now because while they can be goofy they tend to be far less so and less cheesy than the PR series we get over here.

Watching this video and reading the comments. I think we all can agree that both DekaMaster and Doggie Krueger are badasses.
I couldn't help but notice that there were bits of censorship in there.
Dekarangers was my first super sentai series. So I love it but I prefer ShadowRanger than DekaMaster because he's have a great backstory.

Both are cool.
I prefer the music of SPD - it is appropriately epic, while the Dekaranger score has the whole "funky" vibe that was appropriate for something like Gorenger, but not something as modern as Dekaranger.
Just in terms of taste, I also prefer "Kat" over "Swan" - I can't comment on the character or acting quality, but Kat is way cuter (also Cat/Dog dynamic makes more sense).
The Cruger outfit is, like, 50:50. I like both to a degree and can't decide which is better.
Similarly, I like both versions of the plotline here: the SPD one is more about personal revenge while the Dekaranger one is simply about justice.
I very much so prefer the dialogue of Dekaranger - although the one in SPD is totally fine for a show like this, the one in Dekaranger is just much more badass, simply being cooler overall. As others have said, a lot of that comes down from the lack of actual talking and effective usage of dead ari.
Finally, the small visual changes made in SPD to "tone down the violence" for censors and parent watch groups take away from the action, so Dekaranger wins in that.
I do like the small detail there at the end where Cruger tries to judge whats-his-face for the disappearance of his wife, only to find out that that isn't the case.

I always really liked PR krugers costume. They tried to make him look like an alien and not just a guy in a mascot costume. (No offense to dekaranger.) It was an ambitious choice and i think they made a really cool character out of it. Even if hes not the same as his counterpart.

DigitalBrave Studios Well, I can't really judge you for that, since I've barely even seen any of the sentai shows from 1975-1989. However, I'm not gonna say that everything from the 90's was all that great to begin with since there's only a few that I would say that there are only five that I've seen which are actually interesting to watch. But from the early 2000's sentais?! That depends on when shows you are a fan of from that era. Still, at least it has shown that there was a time in Super Sentai history when not everything was "meant for children" back then. Not like how it is with sentai shows, nowadays. I'm just sayin'!!

But let's be honest on one thing though....Super Sentai isn't the same as it used to be, anymore. I mean look at Kyoryuger through Zyuohger. They don't have the same amount of awesomeness as any of the past sentai shows from 1975 through Gokaiger have. And it's really sad though. :(

Le tuan linh I don't know, maybe it's because Toei wanted to include samba as theme for another re-hashed Dinosaur themed sentai series. But, on the bright side at least in Dino Charge/Dino Super Charge doesn't really need to have Tyler be all "Dinosaur Jesus" all the time, unlike freakin' Daigo over here!!!!

When edit around the bullet that Ben G shot, that was understandable. But why edit the missiles that fired from his back?

6 reasons why i like Super Sentai
1.Has a better story than Power Rangers
2.Its more realistic,unlike the american version it was for kids but super sentai had curse words death stuff and more stuff thats for 18+
3.It has better fight scences beacuse the american version they all ways shout (i know the shouting is where the power comes from but is it really nescesery i mean not all people know this)
4.Its bacsicly the original
5.More group of heroes

I like the graphics on the right but the story on the left.
Gotta give credit to PR they put in effort on the head more, since Super sentai looks cheap, at least the PR looks professional, yeah they reused the costume but doing that made a bettee design since they could focus the cost on the head
Also the extra scene of the wife part makes it more interesting since it's new stuff and it makes the mystery better

SPD in particular (although many of the Disney eras did) filmed a lot of bespoke footage to use with the sentai footage. It wasn't only using sentai stuff (like 80/20 maybe, if you only count things with suit actors)

I ilke Super Sentai more than PR why overpowered reasons.
-The U.S version copy-pasted all the fight scenes (only agreed the american actors morph, and dialogue.) Aclare subpoints.
*"Better" visual effects (but this only agreed in 10% o 20% the original series.
*Some sound effects in super sentai are ridiculous, i admit...but in some scenes this soundtracks are necesary. (Sad moments)
-Perhaps P.R have a "better" music, in some scenes this music not combine with the moments.
-Forced Comedy scenes, in P.R ussually the comedy moments has to forced and ruines the original.
-And the last, "fight or story" the P.R version was dedicated for kids, they change the plot and story in 85% because the adults reacting bad for the darkness of the show if Disney(Now Saban)adapt the entire show. The sentai have a surprise: They do the seasons for child same! But in Japan, the mentality of the kids is "mature" than american kids and have a minus taboo for the scenes of death and many points.
This are some reasons for i liked more the Super Sentai than Power Rangers. Sorry for my bad english.
