Excellent video!! I was on one of the first boats sent over, the USCGC Walnut (WLB-205), or as we called her, ‘The WARnut’!!! Absolutely loved that deployment and as a SN, was extremely busy with everyday work/drills, to standing watch, and then acting basically as the boats GM, I PMS’d all of our .50cal machine guns, and all of our small arms after working all day and standing watch. Some days that’s what I did all day and all night. We had a phenomenal crew and I learned a lot from them all. This was my first unit out of boot and I was so excited that I got my first choice of “any billet in HI” and then three months or so after reporting and working those excellent TROP hours, we had quarters and were told that we were getting orders to Iraq 🤦♂️. I was a little worried and excited at the same time. We did extensive training prior to deploying and started that wonderful Anthrax vaccination series that I finished at my next duty station after GM A~School. Back then, 2004-2005, we couldn’t refuse the vaccines, but not long after we deployed DOD/DHS/USCG changed it to that you could refuse them, but couldn’t be deployed and would be transferred to the group or land based unit. Anyways, I loved that deployment and I actually put in for multiple bullets after I got to my unit after A~School, Group Cape Hatteras, which we ended up decommissioning. Phenomenal job on the video!!

The specific need for the U.S. Coast Guard and their expertise is expanding every year. Given the current Red Sea activity, many more Coast Guard personnel must be deployed here. Command needs to expand their presence.

We don't just protect American shorelines, but also American interests abroad.

I would like to know why we are there? This is not the U.S. coast or even close. How would we feel if China, Russia, or any other country was out doing the same thing? Don't get me wrong, I love the Coast Guard and its mission having served honorably for 4 years. This one just puzzles me. Please help me out. Thanks
The difference between the US and China/Russia is that there are countries that ask for assistance from the US in interdiction operations
It's because we have the expertise that not alot of countries have the capability that the USCG has. The USCG has vast experiences in dealing with drug smugglers. So they know how to take down smugglers.
USCG has been deploying overseas since 1917.
We’ve been in every war since Vietnam. First under DOT, and now under DHS, we’re transferred under DOD-USN for deployments during war. This was a war. This wasn’t just the USCG goin to another country and patrolling their waterways. With respect, I think you’ve misunderstood that.

I’m confused. Someone help me with this one. Our southern border is wide open since this administration gave up on its duty in securing the border but the U.S. coast is helping secure other countries waters?!?
Because those illegally coming thru our open southern border are potential voters, even thought they are not citizens some cities are allowing anyone to vote, so bizarre political leaders are being voted in on the local level with their eye on statewide and then national politics
