Have you read the article about them everyone talks about on youtube? Go to TruthContest►com, open ~The Present~ then skip to page 59 and read what it says.
Hannu Mäkynen Yeah, agreed, there are only a minority of bands that just have that "magic" and are levels above the others to show their vast superiority. I read this book a while ago: "With a Little Help from My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper" -- amzn.to/1J6ZZ1V -- it's a technical aspect of how they made this album which is great from beginning to when the needle returns.
Hannu Mäkynen I JUST posted the same comment regarding "I Want You/She's So Heavy". There is ONLY one band who could have produced these tracks in 1968 & 1969.
Toby Preston You honestly believe that the concepts behind those songs hadn't formed throughout his early lifespan? Generally songs are always brewing within these types of people. They just take a little beating to get into adulthood.
vaporfarts I'm referring to the leaps they made in the sophistication of their music & songwriting. Listen to "Love Me Do" then the ending of Abbey Road & that's what I'm talking about.
George Martin's musical expertise helped fill the gaps between the Beatles' raw talent and the sound they wanted to achieve. Most of the Beatles' orchestral arrangements and instrumentation (as well as frequent keyboard parts on the early records) were written or performed by Martin in collaboration with the band Tim Parker
one of my favorite things in life is when i get to talk to my dad on the phone and we're both in a musical mood and we just end up sharing and remembering songs.im 26 and he's 62 but some how we listen to mostly the same music. he Loves to sing this song, it usually makes its way into our music conversations. Music is our memory :)
jonegger1983 Sgt. Pepper was released in June 1967 in the U.S. I had a chance to buy it while on leave in Tokyo, Japan in July 1967, but didn't 'cause I knew my brother would buy it. Wish I did now, as it probably would be a collector's item.
I bought the white album that early too, but wore it out, then it got lost along the way. Same thing with the Mono Sgt Pepper that I had including the psychedelic paper inner sleeve designed by The Fool.
Now that I am an adult, and I am hearing the Beatles' songs as an adult and not under the influence of any mind-altering substances, I can truly appreciate just how ground-breaking they really were.
The interplay and timing of John's acoustic picking, and his lead vocal, with the one-by-one layering of the background vocals, Paul's bass, Ringo's drumming, George's electric guitar lead, and the piano is a collaboration of genius. That collaboration of a variety of vocal and instrumental creativity and talent, that can be heard on dozens of equally great Beatles songs, is what set them apart from all others in pop/rock music, IMO. They weren't the loudest and they weren't the flashiest (thankfully on both accounts); but their synergy created the best music of my generation, and again IMO nobody has come close to them since.
Well put regarding the interplay of musical and vocal timing interplays...this song helped me realize why people say Chris Cornell, and to a lesser degree all of Soundgarden, were heavily influenced by the Beatles.
I am not too young to enjoy these Classics. I fell in love with the Beatles via John Lennon and Paul McCarthy! No matter what music mood I am in....I find a Beatles song to soothe my mood!
Between what these guys were doing musically, and what Brian Wilson was doing with the Beach Boys sound, and a few other out of the box musicians, music would never be the same after the mid 60's. I wish I had been born a few years earlier, and been able to experience it first hand, instead of discovering it later. I was born in '64, right in the middle of it all. Wonderful sounds!
Think I know where you are coming from. Was born in 1952, feel so lucky to have experienced this era of music. Beatles, Stones, Kinks and the whole british wave of bands was amazing. Saw Hendrix in 1968 and that seemed to change everything. Never saw the Beatles, a little too young.
David Henderson He was the one i was thinking of. I am quite envious, needless to say. Wasn't old enough to see those people, but am old enough to have heard it on the radio all the time when small.
I woke up playing this song in head, nearly half a century after it came out, and it is still wonderful. As I knew in the 60's and know now, these are the Beethovens, Mozarts, and Strausses of our time.
0:29 THIS IS my favorite PHOTO OF THEM! Taken in Cornwall in 1967! I have a magazine with this photo ON THE BACK cover, I have framed it and now it’s on my wall!!
it wasn't just that the beatles were awesome, innovative, timeless, intelligent and prodigiously talented - they were - it was that they were the beatles, and we have all been fortunate to be their contemporaries; truly fortunate, that.
They were not of this earth!!!!! If Perfection ever existed in a group it was these guys. How is it humanly possible to write SO MANY CLASSIC SONGS?. They were "touched". Every conceivable characteristic & nuance of an EXTRAORDINARY MUSICAL PHENOMENON was present in The Beatles: Great Image, Fantastic Looks, Intelligence, Articulate, Qwerky, Original, Different. Stylish, Charisma and charm you couldn't touch, Artistic, Personalities that were so completely individual, yet as group complimented each other perfectly. And if this wasn't enough fairly humble about their achievements and never forgot where they came from. Even the greatest mind in Pop Music marketing today couldn't even begin to dream about putting together a group like them.
Dear Prudence, open up your eyes, look around round. Look round around round. Look around. We are literally just life looking around. this is one of the most positive and encouraging songs that I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. I want to thank all of the beatles for this song. it is truly a masterpiece

My compliments to the video maker. Not only like the images but he/she was smart enough to use the ones that matcd the time period of the song. See so many Beatle videos that don't and IMO diminsh some of the effect.
They probably thought anything is possible if you just worked hard enough and concentrated on the right things. Anything is possible just listen to there music and just look at what they’ve been able to accomplish.
Karloffrules Yes she was, this was written in India, Prudence would rarely interact & preferred to stay in her room, hence the line,Dear prudence, won't you come out to play.

John Lennon - Lead vocals, rhythm guitar....Paul McCartney - backing vocals, drums, bass, piano, flügelhorn, tambourine, cowbell, handclaps...George Harrison - Lead guitar...Ringo - Nothing.
+Weapons Education That's interesting. I always thought it was about the girl Prudence who was in the Hard Day's Night film. The lyrics make more sense now.
Encore un titre qui emmène au-delà du réel...Voix, musicalité, rythmes tout est là ...Vive la créativité qui mène au bout du chemin...!!! celui du rêve !!!!
My dad always sang this song to me when I was little. Come to think of it... I don't think there's a Beatles' song he didn't sing to me growing up. Best band ever.
You must have felt that this song isn´t just about going outside your house. *It´s about going out of your head. Coming to life.* I suggest everybody to google the truthcontest (y)
+Naked John It's actually about both for sure. Originally an informal inquiry to Prudence Farrow to get out in about in India. But knowing John Lennon, I'm sure it was about existential awareness as well haha
My favorite Beatles song. Don't know why but i just remember the first time my mom giving me her White Album CD and i couldn't stop listening to this song.
I'm a "paul-guy", but this (among many John songs) is an absolute fav. And yes... Paul was not only one of the best, most prolific songwriters of all time, but arguably the most influential bass players ever (john even said so)
I am thinking about opening my own business in CA, and I hope that everything goes well, because the first thing I am going to do is go to Liverpool and check out everything about the Beatles :)
Your gonna LUV it Man. Been there twice and for any Beatles Fan it's HEAVEN!!! Met Pete Best, visited Casbah, Cavern, Mendips(John's Childhood home) Paul's home (laid on his bed!!!!) etc....The feeling is INDESCRIBABLE!!! Enjoy!!!!
Watch on You Tube: "Liverpool F.C.The Kop Crowd" to see the Liverpool they grew up in in 1964 at a "Soccer" Game, my friend. That will show you the spirit then, of Merseyside...
i got the remastered record today and was really let down. the first line of this song is different: it just says "dear prudence, greet the brand new day" and omits "wont you come out to play. really disappointed
Still remember the first time and place I heard this album and this song in particular--43 years ago. I was about 12 yrs. old, alone in my house, and totally mesmerized and blown away by the experience. I listened to the whole two-record album in one sitting....
Just sat and listened to this and Cry Baby Cry and Happiness is a Warm Gun and cried. This music was totally amazing and we will never hear the like, how sad.
John shoved Yoko down the other 3's throats. He was a coward to just man up and quit so he used Yoko as a weapon. He knew she was a deal breaker being in the studio and he loved it.....because he was a coward. PS.....I love John
Robert Farawell It had nothing to do with a woman... It had everything to do with pressure, expectations, finances, and ownership of the Beatles as a product. Imagine having a marriage with 4 huge personalities and see how long it lasts in that regard alone... Now imagine being told that all the songs you were writing don't even belong to you, because the record company owns them. They were basically kids when they started. The free market world broke up the Beatles ("Its only a Northern [records] song). We were lucky to get the nearly 10 years we did get. Remember the good times, the love, and the lessons. They were only human after all.
Robert Farawell Yoko had very little to do with it. Linda Eastman was more of an influence than Yoko as to their breakup. Mostly, they had had enough of each other.
This song reminds of someone I loved dearly who suffered from depression.....I tried everything to get him to smile and see the beauty around him. He did and he's much happier now. I still cry listening to this song.
I havent listen to this song in awhile, and I start to appreciate the musical talent of the artist and skill of the producer to create this great song!...its like night and day compared to the monotone, unoriginal music of today.
Everyone has thier own interpretation of songs . On the day my son was born I had spent a while holding his tiny 4 lb body and just looking at him ,amazed. I later left for a few minutes and took a little drive to gather my thoughts and just be alone for a minute . I flipped on the radio and this song was playing . Ive always loved this song so I was pleased , but that day evry lyric seemed to speak to me directly , . 'come out to play ', brand new day etc,.it was so real , so powerful.
I've been playing this back to back with Long Long Long for the past couple of days. It's so ethereal. Makes you feel so content and well, beyond the world.
My grandma's name was Prudence. When she passed away, we put some of these lyrics on a plaque for her. When I miss her, I listen to this song.
I feel that, I'm sorry for your loss I really am.
no matter how much i love other bands, i keep coming back...and the good thing is the beatles are always there. love
The Beatles will never leave you nor forsake you ;)
Jon Howard Amen.
Pure timelessness and The Beatles linked us all as one to a new awareness and consciousness sorely needed. She will come back again....don't Worry! Help is on the way!
so true! maria in sweden.
There is no better song to listen to on headphones!!!! The Beatles invented 'stereo'. My favourite Beatles song of all time. Pure genius........
Headphones, Beatles = HEAVEN.
you'd better believe it baby!
As long as I can listen to John, Paul, George and Ringo, I will always be "A rich man".
well this technically isnt ringo so..
On this particular song and USSR, I believe yes. Aren't you very clever /sarcasm off.
You are quite good at missing the point. Thanks for nothing.
my apologies, just wanted to make a little joke, meant no offense

@@JohnnyUtah71I hope you calmed down after 10 years ZAMN!!!
Isnt it amazing how listening to music you last heard 40 odd years ago brings back pinpoint sharp memories.
Tks for the flashback.
I miss all of them, I miss that time, I miss myself.
Only Beatles can make this kind of masterpiece.
i agree
Hannu Mäkynen Yeah, agreed, there are only a minority of bands that just have that "magic" and are levels above the others to show their vast superiority. Hannu Mäkynen I think Pink Floyd did too (Goodbye Blue Sky, for example)
Hannu Mäkynen I JUST posted the same comment regarding "I Want You/She's So Heavy". There is ONLY one band who could have produced these tracks in 1968 & 1969.
I could never get tired of these guys.
You just can't find music like this today anywhere...
To think that they went from "I Want To Hold Your Hand" to "The White Album" & "Abbey Road" in just five years is mind boggling.
Toby Preston
You honestly believe that the concepts behind those songs hadn't formed throughout his early lifespan? Generally songs are always brewing within these types of people. They just take a little beating to get into adulthood.
vaporfarts I'm referring to the leaps they made in the sophistication of their music & songwriting. Listen to "Love Me Do" then the ending of Abbey Road & that's what I'm talking about.
Tim Parker My comment was directed at Toby preston. Sry for the confusion.
They changed the world and changed me at the same time. Nothing was ever the same again.
No body did it better than the Beatles. Timeless and before their Time. RIP John and George . I know Paul and Ringo miss you guys, as does the World.
My late brother LOVED this song & when we spread his ashes we thought of this song in his memory...good ole days & good ole memories!! Sunny days!!!!
No matter how much I listen modern music, I still come back here after some beers. There just is something deeper...
Yes, my master
This song certainly has a lot of depth. The subtle changes, accentuations throughout it make it a gem.
Oh, background vocals are impeccable.

Paul's bass is brilliant. My favorite White Album song. First heard it in college after it came out. We all sat there mesmerized.
this song goes so unreckognized for how absolutely beautiful it is.
I miss the times I'd hear the Beatles on the AM radio in a 1966 VW.
I hear ya man!, I remember my little transistor AM radio where your had to
pull the antenna out.
1960jack TheKaffeeKlatsch
Never experienced the 60s.
But I can imagine how great that feeling felt. You just don't get those kinds of things today. :)
Mihaly Lukacs...I was there...Believe me they were incredible.
Mihaly Lukacs Now the only thing WE hear on the radio is the Happy Song, which gets annoying as it is played every 10 minutes.
I rode with my girlfriend in a VW in 1966.....
I bought the LP (with Serial # 1110200) 45 years ago on Nov. 21, 1968. Still have and play the LP!
that's cool man.
Far out! My parents still have the Sgt. Pepper album on vinyl and is in decent condition. I wonder when that was purchased...

Or sometimes, down Penny Lane? :)
What they did in a decade was pure brilliance. It may be repeated at sometime in the future…but…I doubt it.
FANTASTIC SONG, I WILL LOVE THE BEATLES FOREVER, DEAR PRUDENCE!!
Best song ever!!!! Sounds even better now , never ever tires!!
this is one of the better Beatle's songs and sure one of the best Lennon's song in his career...
is it just me, or is this song genius
It is, it's not you:) One of my favorite (actually MY favorite off the White Album). It's absolutely mesmerizing.
This band had the magic. No question
Yes they are the greatest band ever even all these years later.

I love both this version and Siouxsie Sue's version, but i can't decide which one i like more because they are both appropriate in different moods, so i can't decide which one i like more.

brandon daniels You are in the majority of the music world than includes metal. You're probably not the outlier you may believe.

The greatest band who ever exsisted. Period
They probably thought anything is possible if you just worked hard enough and concentrated on the right things. Anything is possible just listen to there music and just look at what they’ve been able to accomplish.
my favorite of all time

no
She was a temporary band member, but there's more.

i know variety is the spice of life, but how could anyone dislike this song. simple yet brilliant!
Paul's bass is sooooooo fucking amazing!!!!!!!!

just a perfect song. what an arrangement. listen to the bass, to the short piano passage, to the hard guitar ... all makes perfect sense!!!
When I was a toddler, my dad taught me this song and we always sung it together, so many good memories once again, thanks to the Beatles
less known... but extremly wise and well played
This song is about Mia Farrow never leaving her room in India when the Beatles went there to meditate.
+Weapons Education That would Prudence Farrow Mia's Sister
+Joe Gomez Correct, thanks
+Weapons Education
Not Mia Farrow, but her younger sister, named Prudence.
+Weapons Education That's interesting. I always thought it was about the girl Prudence who was in the Hard Day's Night film. The lyrics make more sense now.
+Weapons Education Mia Farrow inspired another song on this album: Sexy Sadie, dedicated to the Maharishi and his affair with Mia

RINGO = "round round round round "
i got the remastered record today and was really let down. the first line of this song is different: it just says "dear prudence, greet the brand new day" and omits "wont you come out to play. really disappointed
I have the remastered collection and there's nothing omitted in 'Dear Prudence' ,perhaps you got a bad CD?
maybe so. its rlly weird..
For 179 people the sun is not up and they are not beautiful.
Ok, this is weird
My real name is Prudence .-----.
sorry bro, but I laughed!
Mericcup and Jackunzel Shipper Well aren't you privileged.
Mericcup and Jackunzel Shipper - What's your fake name?
poindexter van halen Nightrex.... Yeah. Pretty weird -_-
Makes me think of a girl I know.
This song, and that sound on that guitar, brings up feelings in me like few pieces of music do.
The main reasons this band split?, women and John and Paul big egos.
John shoved Yoko down the other 3's throats. He was a coward to just man up and quit so he used Yoko as a weapon. He knew she was a deal breaker being in the studio and he loved it.....because he was a coward. PS.....I love John

It had nothing to do with a woman...

Yoko had very little to do with it. Linda Eastman was more of an influence than Yoko as to their breakup. Mostly, they had had enough of each other.
Allen Klein. Personal and professional growth. Heroin. in that order.
Kyana McCoy
Really?, It is the Rolling Stones the only or one of the few exceptions?
come out to play. fans read the truthcontest beatles section! google it!
Best that ever was! Richard Grimsley
wonder if ppl will still listen to the likes of miley cyrus 1d and all the other bull crap in 40 0dd yrs probably not...
people dont even listen to music from 2000´s or even most of 90´s. Music now a days is made to be listened to and than thrown away.
the ultimate coming out statement. thank you across the universe.
This song reminds of someone I loved dearly who suffered from depression.....I tried everything to get him to smile and see the beauty around him. He did and he's much happier now. I still cry listening to this song.
Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles
Thak you fpo the lines. I heared the White Album yesterday and found this song is outstanding. Greetings from Austria Love so much the Beatles
I love this song. Just brilliant.
