This is one of my most favorite shapes. Ive never met a tech in Maryland that can do one. I do like mine "exaggerated" though. This is a beautiful and wearable example. But i love the more deeper sidewalls and straight edges and more narrow at the tip.
This is by far the prettiest Russian Almond I've seen. It's such an interesting shape. I've seen some that were very pronounced with the bottom arches being very long and boxy. Greg's version is soft, subtle and definitely sexy as he said. It looked like sooooo much product being used I was scared for a minute but the end result is lovely and signature Young Nails work!! 💗
This is the most beautiful version of Russian almond that I have ever seen. This is a massive level of skill. Where do you find nail technicians skilled enough to do this shape?
Wow you explained that so well. I completely understand the top now and the form placement. I so appreciate how you break it all down. Thank you so much.
I'd *love* to see a series this in depth on all the nail shapes that are popular today, and maybe some of the less requested shapes too like an Edge. This was great!
My favorite teacher and my favorite entertainer! It's a pleasure to watch you every time. Good advice, wonderful environment ... You make me regret that I wasn't born there too 😔. I would definitely have taken your courses.
Ugh I was just on your site for the 20/20 nailpolish deal and was thinking man I wish YN had advice for Russian style. You guys always cover it all so well
Love how hands on you guys are!! I've said it before you guys have truly changed the nail game PERIOD!! I wish i was closer to take your classes as I live in Northern California (Sacramento) hoping you guys could do some pop up workshops because we need you here in Sacramento!
@@youngnailsinc No thank you I'm an upcoming nail tech and need all the help and tips I can get this is greatly appreciated i might have to make a trip to you guys because I'm serious about my upcoming business. #LoveYoungNails
for anyone wondering you got to tip the front of your form up & cut each side make a slight slit on each side of the free edge area…I learned by watching kirsty meakin.. nAio and her channel both have videos on these different shapes…
Wish you would have shown the c-curve at the end, I could tell it was perfect. Greg always makes amazing nails, I love his voice & how he explains what he's doing! This is my favourite nail shape also, with stiletto coming in close behind lol
Hi, Razor Tks for yr guidelines. It's precise and SUPERB Does young nails have other video instructions for other nail formats, such as, Butterfly, Edgeletto, Pipe, Razor, Dragon Stiletto edge, Cube, Triangle ? Tkkkkkkssss
I HAVE A IDEA! You guys should come out with a velvet product or like a video of how to pull off the velvet look. I haven't seen many videos but you guys never fail me ♥️
Same way. All about correct form placement. Use your brush to sculpt the free edge make sure you don't apply to much gel at your free edge and clean excess gel from the nail form tip before curing. You can achieve a great C curve just with pinch the right places on your form.
All great, but I don't really like russian forms of almonds because they are thick and heavy, not wearable and unnatural. Greg adjusted this one though 👏
I have so much trouble with forms! I think I move the acrylic too much ?? Very informative, thanks! My daughter says my nail shape is outdated-i like square.
You can create a similar look with the coffin or stiletto tips since they have a similar c-curve. If you are using a straight/square tip, this would not give you the same shape and structure as needed for the almond nail.
LOVE this tutorial, especially how soft and feminine you’ve made this shape! Exceptional teaching skills and attention to detail as always Greg!! Could watch you work all day! Thankyou so much❣️🙏🏽❤️ Ps.. I’ve been trying to get your new dust collector on the UK website, but can’t find it anywhere? Would be very grateful if you could provide a link if possible please ☺️
Oddly enough, my natural nail shape (cuticle to free edge) is a Russian Almond😂. I've always had a flat-ish curve to my nail bed. Nice to have a name for it other than someone smashed my apex"
A traditional almond shape can be done on a natural nail, but it is more challenging to turn a natural nail into a Russian almond because of the angle of the form and the structure of the c-curve.
I’m sooo confused lol this looks just like a normal almond nail.. Russian almonds are way more like geometric looking with like sharp points and what not.. I’m not understanding how this is a Russian almond.. maybe am I missing something here? Can someone explain or help me understand pls and thank you lol
A regular almond has straight side walls when looking from the side, the bottom lines go straight out and the top line drops down (after the apex) to meet up with the side walls. With Russian styles the sidewalls (viewed from the side) go straight out but then arch upward to meet the tip so the top line of the nail can be straight. That's also why he tilted the form up. Russian styles have a more complex geometry from the side, the side walls arch up instead of the top line dipping down. The goal is a nail that goes straight out at the apex instead of curving back down like traditional shapes. That's the difference, the sharpness or roundness of the corners is up to preference 😉
I unverstanden u ... this is a very very soft Version of Russian Almond! For me it is also not a real Russian Almond Shape ... i love it when the Sidewalls are deeper and the Edges not so soft!
The American almond is more rounded in the middle, overall a. Orr dramatic look and closer shape to a real almond. This Russian version has a more more natural apex overall slimmer middle
@@hy3579 ok and thanks for ur answer and Info .... i don't know before, that there is a different between American Style and Europ Style .... every time we can learn more ....😉👍🏻
This doesn't look like a Russian almond 🤔 it should look more like a stiletto from the top view and the sides that angle up are a bit more exaggerated.
I was looking through the comments waiting for someone to point that out, this is a nice version but I was hoping for that point at the top and pointy tip 🥰

This is (imo) the prettiest, most "wearable" example of Russian Almond. How nice to see a tutorial done this way. Thanks so much Greg!😊

Idk what it is about MD, but it’s so hard to find techs that even do sculpted nails! Any suggestions?
Lovely shape. Your cuticle application is absolutely mesmerising to watch!

Thank you so much! Unfortunately the dust collectors sold out quickly but stay tuned for updates on that soon!!
Love this shape but I always end up Angling the side walls from the pink to the free edge instead of keeping the free edge straight. Ugh 😣
❤️
is it hard to maintain this shape for multiple fills??
There's a difference between Russian Almond and Russian Gothic. Gothic is more harsh in angles and more of a stilletto shape.
💯
Oddly enough, my natural nail shape (cuticle to free edge) is a Russian Almond😂. I've always had a flat-ish curve to my nail bed. Nice to have a name for it other than someone smashed my apex"
Oh wow! A natural Russian almond, love it!
Can this shape be created over long natural nails?? 😢
A traditional almond shape can be done on a natural nail, but it is more challenging to turn a natural nail into a Russian almond because of the angle of the form and the structure of the c-curve.

Hi bros
Try to tip a little downwards the form. Ll get a different result.
How is this different from an almond shape? Never heard of Russian almond....
Traditional Almond form placed downward vs upward here creating straight high and lower arches
