Mini Debris Loader vs. By Hand | Which is Faster?

  • So I had this mini debris loader sent to me by Weibang to test out different uses for it throughout the lawn care and landscaping field...In this video we did a simple test of the debris loader by equality filling both trash cans even and testing which one is faster, the loader vs. by hand. The biggest selling points for this loader is the size and weighty, compared to other larger units out there that require either multiple people to mount or some sort of heavy equipment. Let me know what you guys think down below what you would use something like this for and if it would be worth it for you. The debris loader sells for $1,300 and can be purchased from HomeDepot.com or directly form the dealer.
I will be posting our RSWAL shortly of us using this in the field as well...I will leave a link under this message once the video is up.

The guy working by hand was clearly working his fastest which probably wouldn’t happen on the job site and he never really finished because he left a mess So while technically doing the bulk of the work by hand is faster than the debris loader but when doing it by hand you’ll be filling up more trash cans which means frequent trips to the dump truck or trailer or more trips to the dump site so you’ll make up the time in not having to make frequent trips to empty trash cans meaning you can get more work done in the day with the debris loader and as we all know more work done=more Money

James Evans You make an awesome point. The worker on the left shouldn't have walked away until after he dumped his can.

I highly recommend if you are going to use it for leaf cleanups built a big wooden box on top of the dump trailer you can fit a lot more with none spilling out when driving!

Forget the landscaping here, this was fantastic video work!

The advantage to the loader is you can pack more into your trailer 🤷🏼‍♂️. So by that logic time spent going to the dump would outweigh the time spent sucking up the pile.

load a few hundred of those buckets every day for a few weeks or use the leaf loader for what it's meant for or in a proper configuration and tell me what one you prefer. I know after the first few acres with buckets I'm ready for a break but blowing everything to the hose and rake feeding it can be done all day.

This is actually pretty accurate! Bc when you’re at someone’s house, this will be the reality. When you deal w small hoses that are long they will get clogged etc! And don’t forget about the leaves when they are wet! That’s even more of a hassle.

Two guys filling up a tarp ( 12 by 15) then pulling it up an aluminum ramp is even faster. Or if you have a bagger on your zero turn drive it up onto the trailer using a secured ramp. Build the box as high as you can safely do it. Mesh top to minimize weight. Secure it with bungees using the grommets etc. Been doing this for 25 plus years. Leaf loaders clog, break down, suck up gas, are a pain when it comes time to dump, are only used a few months out of the year, are expensive, take more time than just dragging a tarp load up the ramp. They sit during the off season and unless you have them stores in a garage they rust out real quick even when covered.

Thx, settled my own debate on getting one. Just sticking with hand load and tarp method

What about solo? Seems like it would be worth it so you don’t wreck your body.

Your body gets wrecked by not moving it. Obviously there’s a balance between too much and just laying around. You do have a good point about solo though. Sometimes on certain jobs the loader can be a blessing when you’re by yourself and you can ultimately pack more into your box. If you have physical limitations due to a health condition or age (like me I’m getting up there) and you’re working by yourself… get one.

That is also a teeny tiny loader! Try that with a 18hp or larger vac!

Do that pile times, lets say, 1000. Tell who will finish. Only takes a few seconds to fill the fuel tank and its back at it.

you know why the guy didnt clean up? because theres still 2 guys walking around with backpack blowers that will get rid of that "mess" in about 2 seconds (faster than the debri loader prob)

Great video. I want to demo one for leaves. Up here in the Northeast, I could make a pretty good review video of this with leaves.

That looks like a small truck vac. Homeowner size possibly…… a decent size one would suck that pile up in seconds…. Fun video to watch though

How much venting is there in the truck, if it’s not breathing at that end it restricts the suction a lot.

  • @jaystone3516

its not commercial ready its only good for dry grass , dry leaves , its needs an 10 to 12in hose , an way suctions power 12hp to 16hp high rpms would help, it would be better mounted on the front of the trailer an it needs a longer handle so you don't half to bend over as much. good for home owners with really large properties who do there own land scaping , not for land scape maintenance pros, its to slow.

Okay my input is the barrel won by (getting the bulk) but the leaf loader won by touching up the unfinished work and when you chop up leaves its better for the compost pile so I’ll use a leaf shredder all year long over a barrel and those stupid overrated giant sized lunch paper bags!
