  • I love a good climb, so I thought I'd tackle the biggest ascent in Wales - Yr Wyddfa, aka mount Snowdon. 2hrs 30mins to climb to the top with a storm rolling in throughout. The first half of the vid shows all the nasties on the way up, and I've left it all there so you now what you're in for should you decide to do it yourself. The second half is a very cold boy hoping he can roll back home safely with ice blocks for hands and about three litres of water in his boots. By the time I'd started descending, my headset was slightly loose (didn't realise until I got back to the van) and I was too cold to grip properly for a full speed blast home. I'm a pretty solid climber, but there were some sections that beat me near the top! I'd recommend doing it in the summer with plenty of food and water.
    10/10 would climb again*

That was pretty sinewy mate. Well done. I remember doing that on a hardtail back in the day.....on a nice summer evening.

Took me and a friend 4 hours to get up this in the 90's and 20 mins to descend it on hardtails with 2.5" of travel on the front. Think we had pace forks.. We did it after winter when it wasn't as busy. The last mile was pure snow ice and our hair and eyebrows froze at the top. As did our rim brakes.
We had to ride down the first 500m dragging our brakes to unfreeze them. What an epic that was.
The road curves at the bottom are insane as the speed caught us out.
