There's so much amazing natural steep riding over at Smaelog forest, and if you cross to the other side you'll find a tonne of jump lines. Load up on Smidge because those midges are out in force at this time of year.

The perfect example of why we wear full face helmets. A trail I've ridden hundreds of times before suddenly bites me in the face due to a quick lapse in concentration. Nevertheless, no injuries and I was pootling along again after straightening my bars. Safety first kids!

Spent the morning looking for some dusty steeps in the Abercarn sunshine. It's part of the Valleys Enduro Series and not too far from Cwmcarn MTB trail centre. Fairly easy to find and plenty to keep you going for a few hours if your legs can keep you going on the short, steep climbs.

Went to Windhill, had an ace time. Only realised I was ending some runs on the start of the push up at the very end of the day, so sorry if I scared you coming down. An amazing place to ride with options for all skill levels on every trail.

Spent the morning checking the steeper side at Afan Masts. Plenty to keep you on your toes if you like it steep, technical and loose. This is a bit of a mix from the main side and the steep side. Not sure of all the trail names, but you can easily fill a day here and still not find the time to ride everything.

Second visit here in better weather so we ticked off some tasty features in the steep coal slag. If you like it techy with sizeable gaps and drops, get up here! A rowdy crash on one run, but he got straight back on the horse!

My first time at Mallard's so this was a bit of an exploration more than anything. Like everything we've ridden since the rain started in August - this will be ace in the dry!

Ended up riding Dyfi on my lonesome after everyone else bailed, so I took it easy and cruised down in the blistering winter winds.
