Wow, Hansi's voice. It's so full and natural. Nowadays it's the other way around. Very educated singing, but lacking intuition and the "vibe". Also the songwriting was so unique. There was no band that did this songwriting, and after imaginations there will not be one again, since BG decided to do melodic standard stuff - which is still good music, but far from the unique "naive creativity" and ideas in the 1995 era paired with the "feel" for tension and release on the most intuitive layer. On the other hand, I think Hansi would have killed his voice if he kept this style. But on this concert he is just feeling it. He is soooo feeling it. All those spontaneous nuances everywhere.

@@pipoicenadam It's pretty uninspired overproduced. Much less dynamic in build-up and transition riffs. Sure, it's bombastic, but it is no longer adding subtleness to the riff variants. The older stuff was pure creativity. Palm mute nuance into bending, then slide into melody layer and all that stuff. Listen to all the little nuances. They are mostly gone. Just listen to the accoustic nuances in the intros of the Somewhere far beyond album. Or the nuances in Bright Eyes. Few new songs of BG can keep up with those nuanced dynamic variances within the same 4 repetitions of a riff. Much less fine grained expression in the new stuff. Bombastic, epic, sure. Nearly to the point of overloading though.

@@dontanton7775 WTF? They still had nuances in their music and great dinamics after imaginations. NIME is full of it. You just don't like their direction and that's fine. Their songwriting got better in that record , more complex yes but really fucking nice with great melodies and counterpoints in the music, same with ANATO.
The most bombastic stuff and the more recent albums lack dinamics because digital recordings and Loudness war killed that shit in music. All albums sound like plastic now and not just BG ones.
The band was drunk in this concert BTW. Theres' a better performance in Blind Guardian - Thessaloniki 09.12.1995 where Hans's singing is amazing, full of power and sustained notes. He didn't scream without any technique, he had a way to do it safetly.
After NIME the band got much bigger, more gigs and more countries mean more stress for the vocal cords and he had tinnitus on top of that, If you can't hear you well you can oversing and kill your voice .The longer setlists didn't help and Hansi is older now but still has that range, Demons and Wizards III is a showcase of that.

@@carlosluismendez7392 Yeah, NIME is still full of it. ANATO however started to be just overloaded and ultra epic, which in turn drowns the nuances for the listener. You could argue its also full of nuances in the writing, but they just don't shine through when they are embedded in that sound. You have to actively search for them, while IFTOS and NIME gave them to you on a silver plater.
