Had this play been properly adapted as TV movie, it would have been a fantastic vehicle for Elaine Paige! Those who only think of her as a singer would have seen what a superb actress she is also. If it had been as successful as the BBC’s Mrs Brown with Billy Connolly or Judy Davies as Judy Garland (although I’m not fond of that adaptation for a number of reasons), she could have possibly been a household name in America and snagged an Emmy and perhaps a Golden Globe along the way! What could have been... On peut rêver!

@@johnkean6852 Absolutely! Now there’s a novel thought! I’ve seen Elaine Paige in concert a few times but never a musical sadly. I saw Wayne Sleep in a production of “Cabaret” about fifteen years ago and he was excellent. He was still spinning! Did they have much to do with each other outside of “Cats”? I always hoped she’d reunite with Michael Crawford after “Billy”.
