I was fortunate to have family with playstation or sega lol. I was a nintendo kid and got a ps2 in like 04 05, so hearing that kh1 or kh2 and any of the crash or jak games above 80 is insane to me Holy shit Simmons you just unlocked a memory with that espn game, I remember playing that with a neighbor back in the day.
When I think of playstation, the first thing comes to mind is Ape Escape, followed by Spyro 2, because those were the two first games I had for the system. Same reason why when you ask about sega, its gotta be Sonic, cause he was the first video game character I ever experienced.
I'm in a weird spot where I've technically had 4/5 of the Playstations, and played some games even from the PS1, but I didn't play any of it until way later than most, and Playstation didn't really become my main console until PS4. I was a Nintendo kid up through the Gamecube era (aside from going to Sega for the Genesis), and only after I could buy my own systems during the Wii era did I decide to get others. One of which was picking up a PS2 for cheap, mainly to play JRPGs since I'd gotten into them via the few that came out on Nintendo systems, but knew there were a lot more on Playstation. So what that means for me is that when I think of Playstation, early things like Crash or Spyro do not come to mind at all. What comes to mind for me is either modern first-party games (God of War, Spider-Man, etc) or the JRPGs I got that PS2 for: Dragon Quest 8, Persona 3 and 4, SMT Nocturne, Tales of the Abyss, even Xenosaga. Those are my Playstation classics. I did also later come to love Sly Cooper specifically, but that was after the PS3 collection and Thieves in Time, and I didn't like the other Playstation platformers as much when I've tried them (though Rift Apart was very good).
- Every time you argue "What are the top 10 games of PS2" when you say Resident Evil 4 should not be on the list because it is the worst version is a ridiculous invalid argument. You are arguing the top 10 games for Playstation 2 system only, NOT the best version of Resident Evil 4, or which ever game you happen to be arguing about on your list. - If your are arguing the best VERSION of a particular game, then yes, you have a point. Otherwise, your point is invalid, bad faith argument. This is just an example every time Yo-videogames does Top Ten Lists. - Most people are casual gamers if that, and can only afford one console, and at that time, it happened to be the PS2. So they can't buy multiple versions of a game and go all "digital foundry" on a games quality. - Again, When arguing top ten games list, it should be a list for the SYSTEM(console), NOT the best VERSION of a particular game. Even if it's the worst version it should be on the list. I just gave Resident Evil 4 as an example because you mentioned it.
Not a big deal but I mean you're not wrong. If he wants to use that argument they may as well not use any 3rd party games for their lists. Tech wise RE4 is worse on PS2 but you can't play Seperate Ways on GameCube now can you? PS2 version has it's own pros and worthy of being recognized as a iconic PS2 game. Hell it saved the game since the GameCube version sold so bad.
I think that was more of an excuse to say its not a Top 10 Ps2 game for them because it runs worse. They are also in the business of making content and they dont want to gush about RE4 on ps2 when they are going to do that on a Gamecube list.
Sony definitely has plans for Bloodborne. The pandemic fucked up a lot of timelines, which is probably why it is taking so long. Its just a matter of when, not if, with a Bloodborne remaster, remake or sequel. To illustrate how badly the pandemic affected game development across the industry, according to some of the documents that came out during the Microsoft FTC case, Bethesda were planning (in early 2020, just before the pandemic really hit) to release Starfield in 2021 and Elder Scrolls 6 in 2023. And look how that turned out.

CTR is 99? Aight I understand were not supposed to take this list seriously at all

Ape escape was sony's mario party. I do remember the goofy minigames with that camera thing.

Does the list at least have a honorable mention to underground disc for the ps1?

Calm down my dude. It's not that serious.

If you dont like it, just make your own list with your own reasonings
