2 mechanics working on race car on deserted track, Cotton and a boy watch them. CU Cotton. CU mechanic. Men fastening straps over car's hood. Cotton puts on helmet, other man adjusts strap for him. Cotton climbs into car. CU steering wheel and dashboard, he flips some switches. The mechanics and boy push car to start, Cotton drives away. Shot of mechanics changing tyre. CU car's rear end being jacked up. Tyre is changed very quickly, car speeds away again. Car driving up & stopping, mechanic grabs jack (shots not in order). Car driving on racetrack. Various shots of car going round curves of track. Car stops again. Mechanics open bonnet. Cut to CU mechanic removing jack.

My Grandfather (Horace Walton) was head mechanic for James motorcycles and in 20 years he never worked a lathe or heavy-machinery without a neck-tie!!!! At the weekend he also liked to go fishing, so packing his rods, waders and Luncheon-Meat and pickle sandwiches into his homemade sidecar he set off... also in a tie! Bless them all 🏆

Brooklands ,Surrey. This was the only banked racetrack ,destroyed for wartime aeroplane production ,still a little bit of it left .

Not 1920s, it's the mid-1930's. Mechanics are preparing Billy Cotton's MG K3 (K3004) at Brooklands in Surrey. Having started motor racing in 1935, he raced this car in 1936 & 1937. The dark-haired mechanic is "Wilkie" Wilkinson (also his co-driver in long-distance races). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Ernest_Wilkinson
