I remember them opening with this at Nassau Colesium in NY back then. 1st time I saw them. If this came out in '96 I guess I was 21 at the time. And of course everytime I've seen them, they've played for like 3 hours! Awesome shows.

I for one don't bash anyone everybody is entitled to their own musical opinion but i think the lp.mood swings is not bad the' tracks'want ' & strange attractions is what really saves the album. Especially the live versions pretty damm good if you ask me. Of course im not a true die hard fan but i still think. The album' disintegration''has to be considered perhaps their best work from a technical & artistic point an from sellings of lps. This album was a return to their dark moody & gothic roots that made them truely Rock Gods and its kinda hard to beat that one. But i think mood swings stands on its own merit. Period. I consider them to be one of the last super groups still around nothing today can even come to them. Thats the difference between a super group and a bunch of barbies etc.playing the same old sounding so called music no creativity or insight what so ever.
The problem with Wild Mood Swings is that there are no memorable songs that really sticks out, like Just Like Heaven. When I first heard it, I thought that the band was going in the wrong direction. But I do like many of the songs.

I can understand why some people don't like Wild Mood Swings because it's not as good as Wish or Disintegration but when you break it down it really was a great album. It had some of their best B-sides as well as songs like Want, Jupiter Crash and Mint Car. a few of the other tracks were just OK and they brought down the album as a whole but overall I really liked this album.
I wouldn't call it dreadful. Misunderstood, sure. It's not one of their best albums, but much like the Top, I think people don't give it enough a chance to break out of it's reputation
it was also the first album where robert's vocals were put clean on top of the mix and not behind some wall of reverbation, peaking in those fantastically weird vocals of club america and the 13th... totally love that album... to me, the top, kiss me and wild mood swings make up the psychadelia trilogy and i always listen to those 3 albums in spring and summer especially when it's sulking hot...
