Thank you for the hard work that goes into making this type of content Wudijo! I can’t say I’m going to spend any time on this game, but I respect that for you it is likely just what you need to do to continue to grow and expend your channel. I don’t mind supporting you and your content, but I will not be spending or supporting Diablo immortal in the slightest.
Paying for the full game one time purchase they learned it’s not profitable at all for long term. Paying subscription isn’t all that great when you want a free to play game, people won’t pay to play this. If they have to do it every month. So paying for battle pass or mtx. Or some power. People would rather pay to something they can choose what they get from it.
@@kitchenbriks3685 Yeah, if you don't have a crippling gambling addiction. Or aren't mentally disabled. Because this game shamelessly tries to take advantage of both by encouraging them to spend money whenever possible. True Diablo fans are just going to wait for D4.
If Blizzard wasn't so greedy and just charged a single/tiered monthly subscription for people who wanted to spend money in game, they would be more successful. If this were true, people could create a monthly budget and not worry about spending more money than they can afford.
The ability to P2W in PVP kills this game outright for most people. I don't think it should be downplayed how uncompetitive it is to face people with 2-3x (!) more damage and life than you. Only the biggest droolers can lose with that kind of advantage. This game was made by China, for China.
I can totally see that point. Coming from the old WoW days all the way back to vanilla though it's very common to face extremely well-geared opponents and have imbalanced PvP situations, so I can deal with it being a F2P player myself. At least in Immortal battlegrounds have a matchmaking rating system (which doesn't exist in WoW) that will probably take care of most of that issue, also x2-3 more damage and life will only apply to the far top end of spenders (we're talking 6 digits here) so you will basically never see them
@@wudijo wow does have a rated battleground system along with a rated 2v2 and 3v3 arena system. Not trying to disagree with you just letting you know. shit, i feel most games are already like that and have been like that for years. It's sad really that they see games as just money generation before actually giving us any sort of quality. What's even more sad is this was in the works for what, 5 years? and this is what they gave us?
I would say that there are 3 pillars of success, skill plays wery small role in diablo games. Its all about grinding Gameplay will look awkward on pc and its p2w, so looks like i will skip it
P2W wouldn't even concern me personally that much - but I really don't see a reason to actually PLAY the game. It just doesn't feel good - especially on mobile. And if I wanted to play on my PC, there's D3, POE, Grim Dawn, etc. - all which feel better than Immortal. I really tried to give it a chance - but after leveling up a Necro a bit and then switching to a fresh Monk to compare it to D3, I can't even bring myself leveling it after two days. So... I doubt this will end well...
It's extremely easy to do, you literally queue up, and instantly find a group of four. That's it. You don't even have to do anything you could literally let them carry you if you wanted. Then after the dungeon is over, you go back to being solo, rinse and repeat.
I hit l38 with my necro yesterday! And holy crap!!! I know every OG necro player knows how op corpse explosion can be… but can it be made better? Hell yes! Turn those corpses into spiders that chase down enemies before exploding!!! I am so satisfied!
Hate to break it to you but pretty much a mobile games come down to pay to win, 20% more power in 99.9% of mobile games means if i am clueless and have that 20% extra power and i face you a super skilled player i will face roll you every time. Your 4th pillar will end up being the most important as always in these games
Pls here its not just 20% just the legendary gems make a whole lot difference stop defending this game for f2p farming the best thing-increase combat ecc ecc its almost impossible. Im already lvl60-2 hit a wall already cant farm any gems even if u play 24 hours.
Instead of going into a long diatribe about mobile gaming and elitism, I'm just going to say thanks for the video. Confirmed my suspicions about the game and I hope it sates their corporate overlords need for cash so they don't sneak any non-cosmetic microtransactions into D4.
After DI I see no reason to include non-cosmetic purchases in D4. They can get away with it here because of mobile platform but not in a PC release imo
At least it is not gated on anything. I quit lost ark because of that. Yes, I’m clocked at 600 hours with 3 chars in t4 free to play. But not for long after, just got sick and tired of all the gated stuff in that game. Plus, 600 hours is nothing in lost ark.
It is a matter of mindset. Lost Ark is a game designed for the asian market which doesnt care about fairness unlike the western market. I think the best solution is to create two different regions, one in which you have to pay a monthly subscription and get all the content without paying anything else and other region with the current system.
You make quality content that actual fans watch to watch! Keep up the hard work sir! That being said, I would sooner give YOU my money, than Blizzard. I love Diablo, but like you, I will only trying the Free- to-Play content. I'm looking forward to seeing how for you go.
All that Diablo immortal has done is make me want to play D3 again. Which I am and enjoying season 26. I love d1, d2, and d3. Looking forward to D4. Not interested in this super watered down version of D3 with mega p2w.
For a game to be pay to win a few conditions need to be met: A. the game becomes impossibly hard and the only way to become stronger is throwing cash at it. B. The game allows you to get stronger without paying BUT the way to do that is designed to take a unreasonable amount of time. C. The game has a VIP system (which 99% of the time is pay to win) D. The game revolves around PvP and the only way to compete is to spend money (provided you are not talking about competing in the very high ranks) E. @@tossacointoyourwitcherOriginal for these people, anything is p2w if there's microtransactions that give an edge to one player over another. it's ridiculous lmao
Same lol. I just started a seasonal hero 2 days ago and i'm almost maxed level. Grinding all the challenges to get the loot etc. I'm having a blast. I am worried about how they'll handle D4... Idk about you guys but i'm hoping they keep all this microtransaction shit in immortal and keep D4 clean. Making any sort of microtrasnaction that would affect the loot grinding in any way shape or form will kill the spirit of diablo. Its why the auction house was hated and how even though having the game at launch, i never really actually played D3 until 2018.
@@tossacointoyourwitcherOriginal This is the exact type of free to play coping that encourages corporations to keep taking advantage of players. "Oh see? They all say it's still fine, so lets try to take more from gambling addicts in the next game XD" Stop trying to defend it, you will never be able to compete with the true whales and deep down you know it. You are letting your personal feelings and love for Diablo blind your judgement if you don't think Diablo immortals isn't PTW. Of course you are competing with them still. The game isn't even a week old yet. Your own personal opinion on what PTW means is just as subjective as anyone else's. For many people here, being able to speed up the process of getting full legendary gems by months would be considered PTW quite easily. Since a FTP player CAN'T catch up to that until many months later of honest grinding. Anyways, D4 will end up being a game you have to buy unlike Immortals, so hopefully they don't try to pull this shit again. I'm not hopeful though, and nobody should be unless they are just ignorant about how Blizz operates recently.
In my opinion, There should be a system of upgrading legendary gems to the next star by combining them with Legendary gems of the same quality. So combining 2, 1 Star Legendary Gem would give you a 2 Star Legendary Gem. Combining 2, 2 Star Legendary Gem would give you a 3 star Legendary Gem and so on. It would still be quite grindy as reaching a 5 star legendary gem would require 32 1star Legendary Gems but atleast it would be possible. But the combining should be possible with any Legendary Gems, even if they might be different from each other, or else the system would be inaccessible for f2p
Thanks for another excellent video wudijo! I usually don't like microtransations (to be honest, i preffer pay a high full price for the entire game but, i see some positive thing in this way of monetization: make the game more fun with more players who can't pay the full price). Then, i'm ok with something like the battlepass if it cost like 10 bucks/month at max. It's just a different way for paying for the game. But, it should have a limit. Like only battlepass, or limited number of transactions that can make you stronger or advance faster monthly or something. Maybe offer QOL packages (like POE), and infinite number for cosmetics. But if some rich guy can buy infinite benefits to get stronger or stronger faster...it's a mess :(
its a PvE dont know how many rich guys you think exist but i will tell you rn chances of finding just one person who spends 5- 15k will be extremely low because of the sheer amount of players
I am playing the open beta and probably will play a little on release. If the battle pass isn't too dear I would be happy to pay for that to improve my experience. After all, I have paid for Diablo 3 5 times on different platforms so that would be fair. I find it quite fun seeing what comes from d2 and 3 and what is new. I doubt if I would play enough to have a clan want me but who knows. Thanks for this great video. I always learn a lot from your work.
Glad your not one of those clickbait channels that just says "this skin will costs you thousands!!!". I greatly appreciate your take on it all. It's coming from a much saner mindset lol.
there is absolutely no way that a f2p player or dolphin payer even has the slightest chance to compete for the top ranks or doing the end endgame pve content on par with the whales. if you max or close to max out all those whale systems you will be at least twice as strong in every way possible on top of having massively reduced cooldowns on your skills. that is a multiplier to each other. the difference is massive! and then there is the loot. without paying you are not even able to get 5* legendary gems. not even talking about upgrading or resonating/awakening that stuff. if someone who is f2p gets maybe 2-4 legendarys per month a whale can get hundreds of those in the same time. i believe you are way to friendly to the game. there is a limit on how much weight player skill can pull. if the whale doesnt play at all and just pays a 6 digit sum to just stand around you might have a chance. if the whale is everything but a complete amputated afk idiot he WILL beat you. i did play some infamous gatcha mobile games that are the definition of pay to win and diablo immortal is on its track to win the throne of all p2w mobile games. it will be very difficult to find a more predatory monetisation than this even in asian gatcha games...
You are very much able to get the 5 star gems. You are given 1 legendary crest for free you can then buy 1 for 1600 coins and you have 1 for free again in the pass. That is a guaranteed 3 or better right there. You can do this every month. There are so many players and so many servers that coming across someone who spends upwards of 15k is very unlucky to say the least and next to impossible in Europe, Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East. To be in the leaderboards you have 100 spaces I believe so getting there as a free to play is not that hard if you are this guy.
Just to add that for a game to be pay to win a few conditions need to be met: A. the game becomes impossibly hard and the only way to become stronger is throwing cash at it. B. The game allows you to get stronger without paying BUT the way to do that is designed to take a unreasonable amount of time. C. The game has a VIP system (which 99% of the time is pay to win) D. @@tossacointoyourwitcherOriginal this is YOUR definition of p2w. Mine is: are you able to directly or indirectly buy player power through money? Everyone has his/her own definition. And you can get 5* legendaries, its true. With a 0.05% chance. Or through events and the pity system. And then it has for example 2 out of 5 stars (they have two star ratings, a max and a real one) so a 2* legendary with 5* max is the one f2p will reasonably get a few of. But you need hundreds of them to upgrade your legendaries AND socket them into another. Another thing. The top 100 is simply not an option for f2p. There will be thousands of payers competing for those ranks and every single one of them will be invested in the game and able to play the game. But with much better stats than the f2p players. There is simply no way. Look at all the gatcha games out there if you dont wanna believe me. Its absolutely the same.
@@Skilez that is pay to progress, that is not pay to win. Thousands of players will spend 5-15k? Doubt that. Wudijo explaines in what aspects is the game pay to win, today he is on the leader board battle grounds (free to play btw). His video is called "What you need to understand about Pay 2 Win in Diablo immortal" -wudijo.
I don't hate most of the monetisation in DI, just the Gems. They are a scam and I won't be spending a cent on them. I will be getting the battle pass, possibly a pet if they add them at a later date.
The logic that whaling is going to be mitigated by the fact that not everyone is a whale is absurd. Whales make top tier clans/guilds where everyone is a whale, it's super common in mobile games like afk, raid, or ml adventure. It's gonna be the same here. I can basically guarantee you that the top warband and top immortal/shadow players on every server are gonna be whales playing with/against each others.
The pay to win free-to-play model always feels bad man. It basically relies on rich folk to fund the development process of new content for a power gain so that they feel better than others and continue to fund the project. It’s transition to free to play players being enticed to spend money to overcome inconveniences strategically designed to create a frustration experience.
So basically if you compare someone that grinds efficiently compared to someone that grinds the same and pays. The guy that pays has a better character than the f2p player by far?
@@wudijo your inexperience in mobile games is showing bro. You'd be surprised on how many 'whales' they call themselves there are out there. I know it, Tencent knows it, Blizzard knows it.
I think they could easily make the game non pay to win. Just have cosmetic items able to Be purchased. Instead they’re being so greedy trying to extract thousands from players. A lot of people would pay for nice skins, they really don’t have to do the p2w route there’s no longevity. I’ll play the game and get the battle pass but that’s it
Would you rather have a monthly subscription. If it’s just cosmetics then there really is no need to spend any money. Which means no income to keep it going. They see how profitable it is with all other mobile games that have purchasable items. I get why people hate it, but again it’s just them capitalizing on a money grab. Which is smart. One reason is that people will be more forced to spending money to compete or progress easier and 2 competing with other rmt sites or botting. If you can just buy it from the game it helps the game. People don’t like it. But it either that or monthly subscription which most people don’t want. Majority would rather keep it the way it is. Which makes it free unless you want to put money into it.

Paying a lot does not guarantee you total obliteration - fact. But having double the amount of damage over average player, or as they say "F2P Andy" results in beinh literally 3-5 shot sometimes. Blizzard desperate for that Q2. After Q1 went so poorly. F2P players that master the market place will do pretty well. F2P whale is possible. Just hope the game is still fun 3k hours in…
Blizzard has made it clear pre-release that Diablo Immortal will not include any "pay-to-win" mechanics, meaning players can't spend money on microtransactions in order to gain an advantage over other players.
So far from ever video im seeing about Diablo Immoral, I'm not seeing anyting that should be swaying me to play the game, minus it being a "mmo". And that I can take it or leave it. Otherwise great video. I'll stick with D3.
The question is, is this game like lost ark, where um need certain item levels to do some content? Or is it more of a do it faster thing? Im lost ark the wall as so big that i went back to wow kekw, how does the content play out in di?
I will give it a try but I was hoping to just buy the whole game for 40euro rather than these micro-transactions. Also the loot system should be easily accessible, fair and the same for all players. If they introduce a separate server for players like us I will be happy.
Regarding gated content... being able to play a lvl 1 rift and not being able to play a lvl100 rift because an F2P can never reach the power required is at least partial gated content.
Played this for 4 hours tonight for the first time, I definitely wont be putting any money into it, its missing what makes Diablo games great, where’s the secondary resource, or the mana? The things that made Diablo III great for me are missing from this version of the game, the higher complex skill tree, truly passive skills with runes, the ability to charge up while attacking then blast the crap out of enemies. While I like the way the social side of Diablo Immortal is done, I feel it is missing a lot which is a shame. I will keep playing it, just because I have played Diablo III so much that I want something new, but what I am really waiting for is Diablo IV, I hope that still has the stuff that makes Diablo great!
You need to do it through marketplace. And they set up min-max price to prevent transferring items through MP. You can't sell a gem to yourself and put up some trash for crazy amount to do "money laundering" in DI.
I started playing 2 days ago and after putting 12 hours im level 46. I have 6 legendary gems and 5 legendary gear. So its not like you dont get good loot
and a single 5 star legendary gem has more power associated with it than your entire kit because of the multipliers. This game isn't about the legendary gear, they just did that to make you think you were getting amazing drops. All of the power in a character comes from the gems. The legendary gear is literally just for modifying skills.
@@PRC533 but all the passives i want are in 1 and 2 star gems. also they are much easier to upgrade, while 5 stars need duplicates starting from rank 3. also the power gap is not that big i think its 4x times, but to upgrade that 5 star you need 10x times gem power. the power difference only becomes big if you have 5 star rank 10 which is impossible or you drop like 200k $
@@PRC533 I didn't start playing to become world champion i just enjoy it. I will make a bold (actually not bold) prediction here. Immortal will wither like any other P2W games in 2 years. No, I don't mean Blizz won't make money, on the contrast, they will be loaded on that project and soon will have Immortal 2, 3, 4, etc. F2P people will find it meaningless to grind all days, never see the end game and loss interested in 2 months. Or worse they "finish" the game, see the endgame content and find impossible to compete with those P2W on PvP.
Its basicly a cash crap for China and its not the same like Paragon at all . Everybody can get Paragon super easy and even with high paragon you have to play as a group to push the highest Greater Rifts .
"Pay to Win" didn't work out with D3 with the auction house... Why would Blizz try it again? That is the definition of insanity. Gotta maximize those profits, I guess
@@wudijo meh, it's not only that, Blizzard will be constantly be tempted to make things a longer grind if they can drive their sales with it. Next to that, the disparity between players that don't want to spend, and those that do will already be a big thing... while all the time you're in the same game and such. You'd be less viable in group play vs other players that did spend etc. I don't see that as an attractive playground.
Super hardcore players will pay, that's fine. Casuals shouldn't have access to the best gear anyway, so I think it's fine. You don't need all those legendary gems to complete the game.
Yeah, As it is said in the video. What is "fair" is up to you. Some people think that is not fair that someone who plays three hours investing money can get the same results as someone who plays 12 hours but others think that is not fair that a game is designed to force you to invest a lot of time to reach endgame to start enjoying the content. And others think that is fair to use whatever you have available. For some people time and for others money.
I subbed thank you for the video it was well done. Gameplay was good to see too . I like your thoughts on how many players will be at certain stages of the game in power. The game could be the best mobile game ever if there was no p2w but I understand why they did it bc they need money but they could have went with the battle pass
Honestly, as a competitive player, I don't care if P2W is the last thing that will differentiate players in the game. If it makes a difference, it means I will never be a top player. It doesn't matter if I actually would be, the fact that there's no goal or aspiration to be undermines the whole competitive aspect of the game. Big yikes for me, back to PoE. Thanks for the coverage.
I mean its a mobile game, they have to make money somehow. I agree, being able to spend money to get power is never good, i wish that wasn't there but i dont really care. I like the battle pass (depending on price) and cosmetics
Actually an helpful video about how P2W this game is. Most videos are only people ranting about the P2W aspect and how expensive it would be to max your character totally. It's a relief that you can still play the whole game casually without spending anything.
Well I wanted play this game. Now I wont. Probably not alone with this. This nowadays p2w trend is really sad, even sadder to see blizzard following this route more.
The most interesting thing is to see the utopia of those who were waiting for D4, thinking that there will be no micro transactions, if they see that it worked in the immortal diablo. deluded. hahahaha
This was always a little mobile game and follows the exact same formula as all mobile games. No one needs to "see if micro transactions work", of course they work . D4 is a main Blizzard pc title and I would bet money there will be zero pay to win of any kind
Thanks for explaining all this. Nothing to be upset about, it's a free game and a mobile game so they have to have some sort of payment model and this stuff is not uncommon.
hehe, was P2w from day one and now when out i should say most folks can tell..:) Like Lost Ark many did say it´s not p2w but in the end it for sure is p2w at its finest :) Nothing wrong on DI tho, mobile games we know is cash grab...:)
This is the new world... not so new in fact, from years this PayToWin method exist in various games... and very high amount of money is spent by gamers... now Blizzard try the same, from my personal opinion... why not? Gameplay will look awkward on pc and its p2w, so looks like i will skip it
if there were only 3 pillars (with the one you mentioned missing), my whole career wouldn't even exist
Endgame requires group play and Clan activities. Immortal just died for me...
I am so satisfied!
......
Ah, so that's what those spiders I've seen around when running dungeons with my warband's necro are
Hate to break it to you but pretty much a mobile games come down to pay to win, 20% more power in 99.9% of mobile games means if i am clueless and have that 20% extra power and i face you a super skilled player i will face roll you every time.

"OMG I can't be #1 in leaderboard, not worth playing!"
Also same player: _Has never been top 500 in their life..._
As long as D4 isn’t p2w then I don’t care if this is.
I would rather it be this then have a monthly subscription.
It will have a battle pass
All that Diablo immortal has done is make me want to play D3 again. Which I am and enjoying season 26. I love d1, d2, and d3. Looking forward to D4. Not interested in this super watered down version of D3 with mega p2w.
Exactly, I don't get the hype of this game, everything is reused from D3.
For a game to be pay to win a few conditions need to be met:
A. the game becomes impossibly hard and the only way to become stronger is throwing cash at it.
B. The game allows you to get stronger without paying BUT the way to do that is designed to take a unreasonable amount of time.
C. The game has a VIP system (which 99% of the time is pay to win)
D. The game revolves around PvP and the only way to compete is to spend money (provided you are not talking about competing in the very high ranks)
E. All of the above
Right now as a free to play i haven't seen this, wudijo also said that the only part thats pay to win is to be in the leader boards and even then he is confident in being up there as a free to play
"Oh see? They all say it's still fine, so lets try to take more from gambling addicts in the next game XD"
Stop trying to defend it, you will never be able to compete with the true whales and deep down you know it.
But the combining should be possible with any Legendary Gems, even if they might be different from each other, or else the system would be inaccessible for f2p
it is inaccessible for f2p. it mean to be for heavy spenders.
Wait? We can’t combine two 1 star gems? how do we upgrade them
@@robertjackson6937 that only upgrades their level, and each level requires more and more gems. You literally cannot upgrade the star rating of a gem.
All characters are hardcore… pay for resurrections 😂😂😂 imagine that.
Glad your not one of those clickbait channels that just says "this skin will costs you thousands!!!". I greatly appreciate your take on it all. It's coming from a much saner mindset lol.
Great info. Not gonna play at launch. Maybe try it after knowing more about the monetization mechanic
there is absolutely no way that a f2p player or dolphin payer even has the slightest chance to compete for the top ranks or doing the end endgame pve content on par with the whales.
if you max or close to max out all those whale systems you will be at least twice as strong in every way possible on top of having massively reduced cooldowns on your skills. that is a multiplier to each other. the difference is massive!
and then there is the loot. without paying you are not even able to get 5* legendary gems. not even talking about upgrading or resonating/awakening that stuff. if someone who is f2p gets maybe 2-4 legendarys per month a whale can get hundreds of those in the same time.
i believe you are way to friendly to the game. there is a limit on how much weight player skill can pull. if the whale doesnt play at all and just pays a 6 digit sum to just stand around you might have a chance. if the whale is everything but a complete amputated afk idiot he WILL beat you. i did play some infamous gatcha mobile games that are the definition of pay to win and diablo immortal is on its track to win the throne of all p2w mobile games.
it will be very difficult to find a more predatory monetisation than this even in asian gatcha games...
Just to add that for a game to be pay to win a few conditions need to be met:
A. the game becomes impossibly hard and the only way to become stronger is throwing cash at it.
B. The game allows you to get stronger without paying BUT the way to do that is designed to take a unreasonable amount of time.

Doubt that.
True, does that prevent you from enjoying and playing the game though?
The pay to win free-to-play model always feels bad man. It basically relies on rich folk to fund the development process of new content for a power gain so that they feel better than others and continue to fund the project. It’s transition to free to play players being enticed to spend money to overcome inconveniences strategically designed to create a frustration experience.
So basically if you compare someone that grinds efficiently compared to someone that grinds the same and pays. The guy that pays has a better character than the f2p player by far?
Yes, 100%
Depends how much paying we're talking about. You can go really deep if you want but obviously very few people will
@@wudijo your inexperience in mobile games is showing bro. You'd be surprised on how many 'whales' they call themselves there are out there.

I will keep playing it, just because I have played Diablo III so much that I want something new, but what I am really waiting for is Diablo IV, I hope that still has the stuff that makes Diablo great!

The most interesting thing is to see the utopia of those who were waiting for D4, thinking that there will be no micro transactions, if they see that it worked in the immortal diablo. deluded. hahahaha

hehe, was P2w from day one and now when out i should say most folks can tell..:) Like Lost Ark many did say it´s not p2w but in the end it for sure is p2w at its finest :)
Nothing wrong on DI tho, mobile games we know is cash grab...:)
Diablo immortal predatory are too much predatory the paywall its just nuts i would rather play diablo 3 in switch with no bs microtransactions!
It's going to be like every other free to play mobile ARPG. Your going to hit a massive progress wall eventually if your straight FTP
The progress wall here is mostly time-gated crawling progression basically but it will apply to everyone the same way
This is the new world... not so new in fact, from years this PayToWin method exist in various games... and very high amount of money is spent by gamers... now Blizzard try the same, from my personal opinion... why not? IF IMMORTAL add another fuel to progress the Diablo story to travel to D4... i wait to play to Immortal on PC.... i'm curious... probably yes i spent some money... but my curiosity remain in the type of game... from my prospective i not love the PTW way BUT from D2R release and now Immortal probably is a good idea in the end for Blizzard....
They just should make it cosmetics only. But no, this is Blizzard, they effed up every game they had.
Question is: Is it worth even start playing?
Its like Lost Ark, I spent maybe 200eur but stopped playing. have friends who spend 200+ a month
this game can be full free but noone wants to talk about that right u younger generation have no real understadning of how to play grind games its really sad
I will certainly be doing the battle pass and some cosmetics but not extensive whaling like I once did.
Diablo is for adults, RICH adults.
Well I am gonna pass this one not worth my time or money...I hope they are not gonna do this to D4....
