Completely respect your decision, but was much more divided by the maxroll statement. Feels a little hypocritical to talk about the driving force behind the DI branch being discontinued being that Pay-to-Win in DI is 'completely against our values' when one of the three remaining games maxroll covers is Lost Ark, which is unashamedly also pay-to-win. I couldn't stand the monetization in DI (and it was what made me stop playing too), but honestly, I felt the monetization in Lost Ark was just as bad and in some ways even more predatory. If maxroll wants to take a philosophical stand on Pay-to-Win (which I agree with!), be consistent and kill the Lost Ark branch too.

I think you overthought the reason he quit with your own opinion. He quit not because of the monetization model, after all it would be worthwhile and challenging to fight the monetization as a F2P player. He quit because of the game content is not fun and deep enough, that is the main reason he expressed in the video. If this Diablo mobile game is developed like WOW vanilla he mentioned, I can assure you he is not gonna quit anyway despite the monetization model.

I agree completely. I was part of the Maxroll clan in NA and had a good time blasting the first few weeks to help become the first immortals on the server, but I stopped playing a few days ago. The fun in immortal quickly disappeared and it became a chore of logging in for very little reason. P2W is absolutely out of control as everyone is aware of. The decision of the Maxroll team is the correct one, albeit a difficult one.
Yea I'm burnt out also. The fact that u don't log in one day u fall behind so much feels like a 2nd job. Also all these new games coming out I will prolly quit also.

Love the video. I am deleting as well. Great F2P game without PvP but once you hit Hell 1, get some paragons, and hit all things that block progress there is nothing left to do.
When you consider how long the game was in development, the content is lacking. There needs to be way more legendaries and skills as well as zones/dungeons. In less than 1 month ive already reached the point where my only progress comes from boosting combat rating with slightly better versions of the same gear. Am i supposed to just keep doing the same thing all the way to paragon 500?
Welp time to hold out till the next season of D3 and the release of D4. It's too bad immortal went the way it did, but we can't change that so best not to waste any more time on it.

D4 is being developed by the core Diablo team in the US and is being made as the true full successor to the Diablo franchise. We've seen enough of the game to know it looks promising and the developers recently emphatically stated the monetization model will be 100% cosmetics. Now that might all be complete bullshit. Maybe the game will be Diablo Immortal 2. Oh no! What do we do?! Here's what we do: 1. DON'T PREORDER GAMES. EVER. JUST STOP. 2. Remain cautiously optimistic until release. 3. Watch Wudijo's coverage when the game comes out. 4.Decide if you want to buy the game. 5. Buy the game, or don't. I'm not gonna be upset if the game is trash and I'm not gonna sit on the internet screaming about it before it comes out. I'll just wait for release and if it's good, I'll get it!
Respect for making this tough decision, investing time in something and then abandonning it is always hard.... but dont forget youre community respects you for this all. I never played this mobile game (i live in the Netherlands... banned the game) but i always stay clear of EVERY game that even smells like a pay to win, no matter how good it is.
I quit a few days ago, getting capped out isn't any fun, it is really sad what has happened to Blizzard. The first game I ever played on a PC was Warcraft 1. I have played 1000's hours on a their games since.

@@Dooger414 Can you clarify how you think they did a disservice and started gambling problems? I don't recall any video I saw promoting spending money in Immortal. I can say I thought at first Wudi and Raxx were very light on the monetization coverage, in part because prior to release I don't know how much they actually knew, or how bad it would do. They knew the basics of what it was, but I also think Blizzard did a bit of a bait and switch after the alpha or beta. Raxx had like 150 paragon in one of those and his power was great. Then they nerfed everything and implemented their plan. I just think you give them unnecessary blame on this one.

Those people should only blame themselves. I spent 1k$ in other games when the average income in my country is around 600-800$ and yes i had an average income, so 1k$ was a shitton for me. However i could shake it off myself without others help and i played DI until paragon 61 cr 1750 gold 4 rank without spending a single penny, then i quit because i got bored and felt like i was forced way too much at that point, especially because i was in an immortal clan and the vault defense was a joke, that alone could be a reason to quit the game or just leave an immortal guild.

The issue I see with monetization is that you can increase the cost, but you can't reduce the cost. If you reduce the cost the economy will crash, the whales will leave and so as anyone who spent money will feel ripped off. They should have started low cost and increased the cost if they had the demand.

I was glad to see Wudi starting a melee amazon on D2R few days ago. I started a bowazon from lvl0 after quitting DI once and for all. After 2 weeks of trying the game I realised that everything is a mess. DI its not a Diablo game. Starting a fresh player to D2R has been therapeutic and brought me back to the roots:)

I'm p66 right now and I'm at a point where I really only see a reason to play Monday-Tuesday. Then I hit all my caps and exp is hard to come by, so I really just do my 12 gems per day and then I'm bored. Also, at my level, I'm too weak to move forward, but too broke to gain more damage or cr. More and more I'm feeling the pressure to spend money or stay stuck. It's a shitty feeling for a game..... for this reason I'm nearing my end to the game. I'm f2p but I'm also 100% willing to pay money upfront for them to make a good game. Unfortunately they didn't allow for that. And I will never be a micro-transaction player because by my calculations I'll need a few hundred dollars just to advance past h2

As a Diablo II player, what blizzard did to this game is just an absolute disgrace, it violates all of Diablo's core values, Diablo III was flawed but at least it didn't have monetization, Blizzard really went downhill with this game.
I e been following you forever! Since u main DH in D3 it just made sense! I had found my source and over the years I always came back when Strafe was viable and stronk! That was always a my favorite play style.

I quit at paragon 39 like a week ago. I had to be honest with myself the lack of content in DI is Pathetic and of course the p2w. I had my little fun but yea there is wayyyy better games out there I could be playing so thats exactly what i did.
And then there’s people like me who love it and have full intentions of playing for the long hall while spending $100 every two weeks . Two each their own.
After my comment on Raxx's vid about Maxroll pulling out of Diablo Immortal i'm pleased to hear you have done so, we as gamers cannot support this sort of predatory game going forward and this one has highlighted a new level of the art form they have created in trying to squeeze as much money out of players as they can, before regulation comes in which bans them hopefully i believe this is as bad as gambling in addiction levels and therefore should have the same laws applied.
I appreciate your coverage of Diablo Immortal and I expected this from folks like you and Raxx. It's obvious that there isn't longevity for F2P competitive players in this current iteration. It made sense that you would at least play it for some period of time. I respect that you put out content despite the criticism you received and I respect that you are stepping away. Blizzard isn't going to suddenly stop being a scum bag company due to the actions of the fan base. However that doesn't mean people can't stand by their own principles and put their focus and energy into other games that are worth their time. Cheers.
I played up to level 60 and then pretty much quit. I don't see much value in trying to do the end game grind since it's geared towards paying players. Knowing it's pay2win kills any desire to put time into it. That being said, the journey to 60 wasn't that bad. Only thing that bothered me is that the PC version controls aren't the best since you click to attack, rather than move. So when there are enemies everywhere or a big boss with a big hit box, you start attacking when you want to be dodging. It killed me quite a few times. :/
I think it's pretty much dead after Hell 2, like it was just pretty much farming for set items but then it just becomes repetitive and there's no incentive to get items for a higher combat level. It was good while it lasted but the upgrades are just horrible and so expensive that it's actually not even worth buying because like 5 star gems cost like 25 gems to even upgrade to 2 lmao
The upgrade "mechanic" is the worst and the demand for such insane amounts of "resources" clearly was implemented to get people to buy crests for gems.

I'm sure this was an incredibly difficult decision to make, both for you and for the larger Maxroll team. It's really easy for myself or other people in the comments who aren't making a living doing this kind of thing to say they agree with it, but I'm sure it's much harder when you're actually in those shoes than people realize. Major credit to you and the other maxroll guys for taking this step. I hope it's the kick in the teeth that blizzard needs to get their act together. Maybe in a year or two they will tone down (or ideally remove) the aggressive monetization, spend more time on adding a better gameplay loop, and allow an actually well designed game to flourish. Thank you for refusing to endorse this dumpster fire that could have been a wonderful entry in a beloved series. What Blizzard did here is the equivalent of promising a kid a cute puppy, buying them a rabid pit bull instead, and then shooting it right in front of them. It is difficult to find the words to describe my deep levels of disappointment and offense at this predatory product.
let's be real, the game was dead a few weeks ago already. the stats on twitch do not lie: 72k followers and an average of total 1.5k viewers for only 60 streams (half of them streaming for 1 viewer) for a diablo game is unacceptable. blizzard has no big streamer playing the game. they might have raked in a few bucks with their predatory p2w model, but in my opinion they lost way more in revenue by having noone play the game and also completely annoying their real playerbase. huge opportunity squandered and a massive flop in my eyes. the game is dead after a month, while other games with f2p models where you can not buy any in game advantage like fortnite make the real money. blizzard is short sighted and greedy and delusional. the guys who thought out this inacceptable p2w model need to be fired and replaced as they have completely ruined this game.
Twitch works in a very special way, the lack of big streamers doesn't indicate a game is bad. Most of the really big guys are not investing long-term into any game but usually hop from game release to game release to catch the newest hype. I'm sure DI will have its own group of smaller long-term streamers similar to e.g. D3
@@wudijo dont agree at all, diablo 3 had a much bigger following at release and twitch was much smaller at that time, the interest was higher, because the game was more fun obviously despite all the problems with servers and the auction house. the lack of twitch followers and viewership is very telling, that the interest in this game has dropped very fast due to it being a p2w trap and predatory. kripp and many other well known would have streamed this game for a long time if it was any good, these are not streamers that hop on and off for the hype. he laid out very well, why he is not streaming this game, despite him being a long time blizzard game streamer - hearthstone and diablo (3 and 2) - he just does not like the way the game is completely paywalled. i get it that you want to defend the game based on you being in their beta program and future interest in diablo 4, but the game has flopped hard on twitch and youtube, interest has plummeted within a month of release and there is no way to compare the game to diablo 3 when it comes to viewing numbers, d3 had solid numbers for several years, di is already dead after one month.
ONE THING That can Definitely be said is at least they took the general feed back about D3 regarding sets to heart. I love that Set items are all Left Side so you still get to have 6 Legendary items If only they were more Interesting.

At what point does optimism become willful ignorance. It was obvious this was coming, no clue how you could put any faith in blizzard in 2022. Also all this talk about getting immortal... that literally just means that you recruited enough whales to dominate the server. It is not some kind of skill or grind based accomplishment, it mainly just comes down to which clan has the most/biggest spenders. You are a skilled gamer, I respect that, but get real. Diablo immortal is trash, blizzard is trash and accomplishments in that game just show who has spent the most money(which is exactly why you can’t compete for rank 1 in it).

What I respect about this video and your Immortal coverage is how you stayed free to play and managed to do about as well as you could do. I've seen quite a few other content creators paying thousands into this game to "prove how pay to win it is", and that's insane to me. I think the way to show Blizzard is to do what you did: play for free(or not at all), don't spend anything, and leave and be honest about your experience. I just think it's very hypocritical to to pump money into this game for content, and you didn't do that. I am disappointed with Immortal as well and quit after about a week and a half. I hit 60 and got 5 or so paragon, but this game is not for me. It played well enough and looked good on a phone, but it felt too much like a copy/paste of D3 with worse gameplay. I will admit, I did like some of the new versions of skills(I played monk, so that's really all I saw)and how they interacted with legendary items. I don't have a lot of faith, but I hope they take ideas like that into D4 and don't monetize it at all. I can see the potential in that game, but it's ruined by being a merciless cash grab.
Finally, good on you, and a shame it had to end this way. Wasn’t aware of your efforts in the guide. But I’m sure your talents will be appreciated for Diablo 4.
Dungeons are super repetitive, I hate how a lot of the dialogue is not skippable, and certain scripted walkthroughs take way too long. I also wish zone events were shown as icons on the over-world map. Westmarch is too large, and I hate running around for 5-10 min before entering a world. Mobs move too slow and have laggy lock on, which hinders kill streaks. Rift runners suck, they never search for elites. I’m only playing to collect all the legendary gear minus the set pieces since dungeons are soo boring.
After countless game play videos, reviews, and stories from people, I had decided that this interpretation of a Diablo game was not for me. It is Diablo in name only to me.

I'm a mobile game content creator and I fully understand how you feel about mobile games. I never understood the point in spending huge amounts in a game. Now that doesn't mean I never buy packs, but from my 10 yrs of mobile gaming experience it can be helpful to spend a little in beginning to get a good start. Unfortunately Diablo Immortal is not designed that way so I chosed not to make guides for the game. Getting hard to find a fair mobile game you like these days, but I'm not giving up yet.

I agree completely. I was part of the Maxroll clan in NA and had a good time blasting the first few weeks to help become the first immortals on the server, but I stopped playing a few days ago. The fun in immortal quickly disappeared and it became a chore of logging in for very little reason. P2W is absolutely out of control as everyone is aware of. The decision of the Maxroll team is the correct one, albeit a difficult one.
I don't know if that was the best business decision. For me, I need to find a new place to get my info.

Love the video. I am deleting as well. Great F2P game without PvP but once you hit Hell 1, get some paragons, and hit all things that block progress there is nothing left to do.

When you consider how long the game was in development, the content is lacking. There needs to be way more legendaries and skills as well as zones/dungeons. In less than 1 month ive already reached the point where my only progress comes from boosting combat rating with slightly better versions of the same gear. Am i supposed to just keep doing the same thing all the way to paragon 500?
Welp time to hold out till the next season of D3 and the release of D4. It's too bad immortal went the way it did, but we can't change that so best not to waste any more time on it.

D4 is being developed by the core Diablo team in the US and is being made as the true full successor to the Diablo franchise. We've seen enough of the game to know it looks promising and the developers recently emphatically stated the monetization model will be 100% cosmetics.
Now that might all be complete bullshit. Maybe the game will be Diablo Immortal 2. Oh no! What do we do?!
Here's what we do:
1. DON'T PREORDER GAMES. EVER. JUST STOP.
2. Remain cautiously optimistic until release.
3. Watch Wudijo's coverage when the game comes out.
4.Decide if you want to buy the game.
5. Buy the game, or don't.
I'm not gonna be upset if the game is trash and I'm not gonna sit on the internet screaming about it before it comes out. I'll just wait for release and if it's good, I'll get it!
Respect for making this tough decision, investing time in something and then abandonning it is always hard.... but dont forget youre community respects you for this all.

I can say I thought at first Wudi and Raxx were very light on the monetization coverage, in part because prior to release I don't know how much they actually knew, or how bad it would do. They knew the basics of what it was, but I also think Blizzard did a bit of a bait and switch after the alpha or beta. Raxx had like 150 paragon in one of those and his power was great. Then they nerfed everything and implemented their plan. I just think you give them unnecessary blame on this one.

Those people should only blame themselves. I spent 1k$ in other games when the average income in my country is around 600-800$ and yes i had an average income, so 1k$ was a shitton for me. However i could shake it off myself without others help and i played DI until paragon 61 cr 1750 gold 4 rank without spending a single penny, then i quit because i got bored and felt like i was forced way too much at that point, especially because i was in an immortal clan and the vault defense was a joke, that alone could be a reason to quit the game or just leave an immortal guild.

The issue I see with monetization is that you can increase the cost, but you can't reduce the cost. If you reduce the cost the economy will crash, the whales will leave and so as anyone who spent money will feel ripped off. They should have started low cost and increased the cost if they had the demand.

I was glad to see Wudi starting a melee amazon on D2R few days ago. I started a bowazon from lvl0 after quitting DI once and for all. After 2 weeks of trying the game I realised that everything is a mess. DI its not a Diablo game. Starting a fresh player to D2R has been therapeutic and brought me back to the roots:)

pay2win is an very unacceptable issue, but much more shows the dishonest and disrespectful is whenever blizzard heard that they did nothing on it.
I'm p66 right now and I'm at a point where I really only see a reason to play Monday-Tuesday. Then I hit all my caps and exp is hard to come by, so I really just do my 12 gems per day and then I'm bored.
Also, at my level, I'm too weak to move forward, but too broke to gain more damage or cr.
More and more I'm feeling the pressure to spend money or stay stuck. It's a shitty feeling for a game..... for this reason I'm nearing my end to the game.
I'm f2p but I'm also 100% willing to pay money upfront for them to make a good game. Unfortunately they didn't allow for that. And I will never be a micro-transaction player because by my calculations I'll need a few hundred dollars just to advance past h2

As a Diablo II player, what blizzard did to this game is just an absolute disgrace, it violates all of Diablo's core values, Diablo III was flawed but at least it didn't have monetization, Blizzard really went downhill with this game.

I quit at paragon 39 like a week ago. I had to be honest with myself the lack of content in DI is Pathetic and of course the p2w. I had my little fun but yea there is wayyyy better games out there I could be playing so thats exactly what i did.
And then there’s people like me who love it and have full intentions of playing for the long hall while spending $100 every two weeks . Two each their own.
After my comment on Raxx's vid about Maxroll pulling out of Diablo Immortal i'm pleased to hear you have done so, we as gamers cannot support this sort of predatory game going forward and this one has highlighted a new level of the art form they have created in trying to squeeze as much money out of players as they can, before regulation comes in which bans them hopefully i believe this is as bad as gambling in addiction levels and therefore should have the same laws applied.
I appreciate your coverage of Diablo Immortal and I expected this from folks like you and Raxx. It's obvious that there isn't longevity for F2P competitive players in this current iteration. It made sense that you would at least play it for some period of time. I respect that you put out content despite the criticism you received and I respect that you are stepping away. Blizzard isn't going to suddenly stop being a scum bag company due to the actions of the fan base. However that doesn't mean people can't stand by their own principles and put their focus and energy into other games that are worth their time. Cheers.
I played up to level 60 and then pretty much quit. I don't see much value in trying to do the end game grind since it's geared towards paying players. Knowing it's pay2win kills any desire to put time into it. That being said, the journey to 60 wasn't that bad. Only thing that bothered me is that the PC version controls aren't the best since you click to attack, rather than move. So when there are enemies everywhere or a big boss with a big hit box, you start attacking when you want to be dodging. It killed me quite a few times. :/
I think it's pretty much dead after Hell 2, like it was just pretty much farming for set items but then it just becomes repetitive and there's no incentive to get items for a higher combat level. It was good while it lasted but the upgrades are just horrible and so expensive that it's actually not even worth buying because like 5 star gems cost like 25 gems to even upgrade to 2 lmao
The upgrade "mechanic" is the worst and the demand for such insane amounts of "resources" clearly was implemented to get people to buy crests for gems.

Played immortal for 2 days, then uninstalled after I became aware of the terrible monetization.
I'm sure this was an incredibly difficult decision to make, both for you and for the larger Maxroll team. It's really easy for myself or other people in the comments who aren't making a living doing this kind of thing to say they agree with it, but I'm sure it's much harder when you're actually in those shoes than people realize. Major credit to you and the other maxroll guys for taking this step. I hope it's the kick in the teeth that blizzard needs to get their act together. Maybe in a year or two they will tone down (or ideally remove) the aggressive monetization, spend more time on adding a better gameplay loop, and allow an actually well designed game to flourish. In the meantime I'll be happy to see you go back D3, and interested to see how things go with POE as well. Good luck and thanks for your awesome content!

Thank you for refusing to endorse this dumpster fire that could have been a wonderful entry in a beloved series. What Blizzard did here is the equivalent of promising a kid a cute puppy, buying them a rabid pit bull instead, and then shooting it right in front of them. It is difficult to find the words to describe my deep levels of disappointment and offense at this predatory product.
A lot of people saw this coming for DI but being a hardcore fan of Diablo like yourself, it's good to see you've come to your senses about DI.
let's be real, the game was dead a few weeks ago already. the stats on twitch do not lie: 72k followers and an average of total 1.5k viewers for only 60 streams (half of them streaming for 1 viewer) for a diablo game is unacceptable. blizzard has no big streamer playing the game. they might have raked in a few bucks with their predatory p2w model, but in my opinion they lost way more in revenue by having noone play the game and also completely annoying their real playerbase. huge opportunity squandered and a massive flop in my eyes. the game is dead after a month, while other games with f2p models where you can not buy any in game advantage like fortnite make the real money. blizzard is short sighted and greedy and delusional. the guys who thought out this inacceptable p2w model need to be fired and replaced as they have completely ruined this game.
Twitch works in a very special way, the lack of big streamers doesn't indicate a game is bad. Most of the really big guys are not investing long-term into any game but usually hop from game release to game release to catch the newest hype. I'm sure DI will have its own group of smaller long-term streamers similar to e.g. D3
@@wudijo dont agree at all, diablo 3 had a much bigger following at release and twitch was much smaller at that time, the interest was higher, because the game was more fun obviously despite all the problems with servers and the auction house. the lack of twitch followers and viewership is very telling, that the interest in this game has dropped very fast due to it being a p2w trap and predatory. kripp and many other well known would have streamed this game for a long time if it was any good, these are not streamers that hop on and off for the hype. he laid out very well, why he is not streaming this game, despite him being a long time blizzard game streamer - hearthstone and diablo (3 and 2) - he just does not like the way the game is completely paywalled. i get it that you want to defend the game based on you being in their beta program and future interest in diablo 4, but the game has flopped hard on twitch and youtube, interest has plummeted within a month of release and there is no way to compare the game to diablo 3 when it comes to viewing numbers, d3 had solid numbers for several years, di is already dead after one month.
ONE THING That can Definitely be said is at least they took the general feed back about D3 regarding sets to heart. I love that Set items are all Left Side so you still get to have 6 Legendary items If only they were more Interesting.

At what point does optimism become willful ignorance. It was obvious this was coming, no clue how you could put any faith in blizzard in 2022. Also all this talk about getting immortal... that literally just means that you recruited enough whales to dominate the server. It is not some kind of skill or grind based accomplishment, it mainly just comes down to which clan has the most/biggest spenders. You are a skilled gamer, I respect that, but get real. What I respect about this video and your Immortal coverage is how you stayed free to play and managed to do about as well as you could do. I've seen quite a few other content creators paying thousands into this game to "prove how pay to win it is", and that's insane to me. I think the way to show Blizzard is to do what you did: play for free(or not at all), don't spend anything, and leave and be honest about your experience. I just think it's very hypocritical to to pump money into this game for content, and you didn't do that.
I am disappointed with Immortal as well and quit after about a week and a half. I hit 60 and got 5 or so paragon, but this game is not for me. It played well enough and looked good on a phone, but it felt too much like a copy/paste of D3 with worse gameplay. I will admit, I did like some of the new versions of skills(I played monk, so that's really all I saw)and how they interacted with legendary items. I don't have a lot of faith, but I hope they take ideas like that into D4 and don't monetize it at all. I can see the potential in that game, but it's ruined by being a merciless cash grab.

Finally, good on you, and a shame it had to end this way. Wasn’t aware of your efforts in the guide. But I’m sure your talents will be appreciated for Diablo 4.
Dungeons are super repetitive, I hate how a lot of the dialogue is not skippable, and certain scripted walkthroughs take way too long. I also wish zone events were shown as icons on the over-world map. Westmarch is too large, and I hate running around for 5-10 min before entering a world. Mobs move too slow and have laggy lock on, which hinders kill streaks. Rift runners suck, they never search for elites. I’m only playing to collect all the legendary gear minus the set pieces since dungeons are soo boring.
After countless game play videos, reviews, and stories from people, I had decided that this interpretation of a Diablo game was not for me. It is Diablo in name only to me.

Thank you for your passion, energy, and honesty about the game. Yiu always gave the facts and your opinion separately and never made other feels bad for liking or hating this game. As a casual player I enjoy guild wars, but it is not my main game at all, which is a shame since I do love Diablo games.

I'm a mobile game content creator and I fully understand how you feel about mobile games. I never understood the point in spending huge amounts in a game. Now that doesn't mean I never buy packs, but from my 10 yrs of mobile gaming experience it can be helpful to spend a little in beginning to get a good start. Unfortunately Diablo Immortal is not designed that way so I chosed not to make guides for the game. Getting hard to find a fair mobile game you like these days, but I'm not giving up yet.
I quit the game 3 days ago and I feel refreshed. Blizzard definitely sucks now.
A sad day indeed. you will be missed on the Dark Wanderers Server Wudijo. You can be sure of that. It was good to have you, and looking at your history, arpgs and everything else, I can at least understand why you decided to quit.

Just seen Raxx video about DI on Maxroll and now you not covering it, I will have no where to go but I do understand. If you guys continue to cover a game with no soul it will never get that Blizzard soul back from Activision Board. Best of luck and I hope this opens Blizzards/Activision eyes.
