@@MeAndCarKeys , I think it was about 7 hours to get to where I was going. Spent 3 days touring the area, took off my shoes and walked in the water on Omaha beach, visited the American military cemetery where so many of the absolute legends from WWII are resting. I’m a history geek, so it was an amazing trip for me.

7:09 - 7:22 ...you mentioned a good point. Spraying it on to fast may not allow the paint to become that shiny piano black if it isn't thick enough during application. You think it could be glossier if you spray the paint a little slower?
I think spraying slower and allowing more dry time might help but I’m no expert; that was my first time using vinyl dip. I actually just removed it for some black covers I found online. Thanks a lot!! The cladding as in the side door trims?? I sprayed mine and they came out well all except the bigger chrome piece behind the rear door. For some reason it didn’t take too well. I may just try to wrap it instead
@@MeAndCarKeys Yeah bc it seemed like the matte/gray of the protective cladding was the only thing that seemed to not match very well but it couldve just been the lighting in the video
To be honest yours came out so good from what I can see that I bought plastidip and am gonna take on this project in the coming week hahaha

I bought a 24 CX-5 Turbo premium in the eternal mica blue. Black wheels, trim, except badges and window trim.. I want to get it blacked out.. I went to the dealer and they doesn't even sell the pieces. Guess i'm getting them wrapped.
I’m surprised the 24 models still have chrome. You have a few options, can hyper dip, wrap, or they offer black trim covers on eBay for all the trim pieces. I’ll find the link for them

How is this holding up after a year? Planning on doing this to my cx5 soon
It’s holding up well! No chips or rips! Only issue is that it’s started to fade some. It still looks good, but not near as glossy as it was in this video. Thanks for the question. Let me know how it goes for you! 👍

Hey boss came across your video researching how to hyper dip my car. Very informative and well done video, quick question how many cans should you go through blacking out the front grill? I'm trying to black out the hockey sticks on the sides, the front grill, and the rear emblems trying to see how many cans I would need to complete this.
Sup bro! Thanks for watching! I only used one can for the front, and still had maybe 1/3 of that can left over. I would suggest atleast two cans to get all of it done or just get the trim package like I did since it comes with 3 cans and all the other accessories. Let me know how it goes!! I'm late to the party, but that looks awesome. Great job. I'm looking to do the same thing to my new CX-5. Is this stuff durable? If you had to go through car washes (I live in a condo and can't wash by hand) would it hold up or peel right off? Thanks.
Sup! Better late than never! It’s pretty durable but I wouldn’t recommend a car wash unless it’s a touch less car wash. Its strong enough to hold up to a pressure washer but not to the brushes of a car wash; eventually it would start to peel in my opinion. Let me know if you decide to do it or not. Thanks for watching
How's it hold up in car washes? My granddaughter wants me to do her window trim, but she goes through an automatic car wash regularly.
Normally I just wash at home, but we just went through a car wash the other day and it held up fine. If you do the trim, I would suggest hand washing. I think it would start to peel if using car washes regularly. Thanks for watching
That looks awesome! I just got a 2022 carbon edition but it still had all the same chrome trim pieces…I am going to do the whole chrome delete! How did you do the emblems and the lettering? Do they pop on and off or did you have to tape those too? Great content!!
Thanks a lot!! Congrats on the Carbon Edition! I thought all the trim was blacked out on the carbon editions.
But I taped off the area and sprayed it the same way then peeled off the extra. I’m sure the emblems can pop off, but I thought this way would be easier. I need to redo some pieces which is why I didn’t post a video on it, but overall it came out great.
Haha you would think so! Some is like the front smile piece is black but the roof rack and hockey sticks along with the back emblems are chrome
I would not recommend popping them off. I got a black chrome Mazda emblem for the rear. I had to use so much heat to get the chrome one off it melted the base paint. Also the "CX-5" and the "Skyactive G" are clocked by a hole in the bodywork in addition to that adhesive issue, making de-badging very difficult. So then I had to touch that up on the center emblem (and just stick the CX-5 and Skyactive back down!). And when I was done the curve of the black emblem did not quite match my 2023 so it doesn't want to stay stuck down. I think I will spray the rest of the trim. It looks way easier than what I went through.. Thanks for the video MACK. and my other car is an F-150 so I know about your other work too. Great videos, keep them coming. Would be cool to see if we can forscan some interesting things on the Mazda (like DRL without the headlight on).
Can you remove the dip?
Yes! It peels off just like a vinyl wrap would. That’s the best part; if you don’t like it, just peel it off.

Looks awsome! Wanna do this on my white mazda, however im curious how long this lasts do chips effect it on the highway? I have the feeling the first highway run imma have, i will already see the paint chipping. what are your experiences?
Sup!! That would look amazing on a white Mazda!! It’s actually been great. It hasn’t chipped at all and it’s been over a year since. I just try to be really careful when I wash it and hand wash it only! 😂 let me know if you decide to!

Sup bro! Yes it can. I actually did the emblems and the side chrome trim already. I was rushing and messed up on some of it so I didn’t post a video for it, but I can be done.

Awesome video! Did you peel any of these areas while still wet? When I peeled I had some trouble with the plastic under the headlights that connect to the grill piece - they didn’t peel away nicely and lifted some of the dip. So just wondering if you peeled when wet or let it dry. Thanks!
Thanks a lot bro! I let everything dry overnight before I peeled. (Probably didn’t need to wait that long) I did have some stubborn areas that didn’t peel off too well in that same spot. I got what I could left what was deep in the cracks.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes i did blackout the chrome hockey sticks. I didn't post the video because I clumsily ruined it when peeling the tape off... it looks great along the doors, but on the back right behind the rear door the edge doesn't look smooth. I will post a video on it.

Hey do you know if its possible to remove the emblem in the front grill? I think it looks horrible(!!!) and I want to replace it with a black 3D piano black Batmanstyle Mazda emblem. The glas non 3D one is just bad. I also want to make my rear one piano black.
