I have two varieties of crab apples. One is the typical small apples and the other produces apples 1.5 to 2.0 inches in diameter. The birds love the small crabs late in the winter time (and I love watching the birds as the migratory seasons cycle). This year I decided that since we have such a bumper crop of crab apples that I am going to make fruit leather and some jelly. Normally I just apple sauce the regular apple trees that I also am fortunate to have, but this year I am expanding my horizons.
Another good one to forage, would be autumn olives. They’re not like olives at all, they’re actually tiny little berries and you don’t have to remove the seeds. I love your video! Thank you
New subscriber hooked from first video! Just stumbled onto Wild crabapples that are larger than usual Minnesota wild crabapples. Pockets full... On my way back to camp to cook them down. 😊
I found a crab apple tree with entirely deep red skin and flesh, and now I’m gonna make a pie when I get home. Hope the seeds will germinate so I can grow some more!

We have 5 trees in our front yard never did anything with the fruit. Found out recently you can make food with them! So excited to make stuff!

We planted a crabapple tree in our garden! Can't wait to harvest the fruit!
Another great option you didn't mention is Apple Cider Vinegar- has some fantastic health properties and it's even easier to make.
Great idea!!
Interested in the idea...how do you make it?
I love this video! Some people in my neighborhood have those trees and I always was curious. Hope I'll find one in public for foraging!
Thank you Anna! I'm sure you'll find one, as the trees can be seen in front of many office & public buildings nowadays!

If you like to dehydrate food, you can also make apple chips. They’re really good.
Cool! I didn't even know crabapples were a thing, will try to find some in my area
I JUST SUBSCRIBED 😊🌱
