This song really hits you in the feels. Pepper's story, Jimmy and his Dad, Ethel's speech about hope being the death of you and Elsa abandoning Pepper all really got to me.
@Bailey McPheron It's been a long time since I made this comment, and I've almost forgotten this season of AHS. I was about 22 years old at the time, and I'm 27 now. Elsa truly did abandon Pepper; it was mostly selfish even if she may have held some regret over it, and that actually makes it so much more hurtful thinking back on it.
I think altogether, there was so much loss in the show and very little to comfort you, even with what good the show may have ended with. It waa filled with hurt, sadness, and never quite reaching where you tried to go but getting oh so close.
@@earth2jio well it was selfish I agree but she had to abandon pepper for her to be in Asylum. Besides Dandy would have probably killed her if she had stayed at the freak show :(
season 4 had me in tears
yeah Season 4 was sad. clowns scare me to death but even the clowns story I felt bad for him and cried when I found out why Twisty became the way he was. I felt sorry for all the characters this season
The best season to me.
This music has proven that you don't have to be a famous filmcomposer, like John Williams or Hans Zinmer. Because this track is really mindblowing!

the 4x10 is a masterpiece. seriously the photography is incredible, the story so beautiful and sad. seriously i don't know why some people hate Freakshow. one of my favourite season and the best story characters of Ahs

I think this song is very cleverly done, like a mix of sadness and childishness which is great for the characters.
This season of AHS was really sad in a lot of ways, but more importantly it opened my eyes more about mental patients ( even though its not that in the season ) but it shows about treating Everyone with respect. We are all human.

Absolute perfection. Combine this with the Orphans episode and it’s cinematic genius. The tears flow and the chin trembles with pain.
AHS Freakshow was by far the most moving. To me it was the last of the show's greatness. Jessica Lange made this show what it was and it hasn't been the same since she left. Pepper's story was so moving and this score holds up. Only wish I could find it on Spotify or Pandora.

“ This is where people abandoned people.” I just re-watched This season and no matter how many times I come across on Pepper’s story, I can’t help but cry and feel so so sorry for her. Pepper was so pure and innocent. What Elsa did to help her was touching and beautiful despite Elsa’s other intentions.

I have been listening to this song for most of the day. I own AHS season 4 on dvd and I saw the episode where this song comes into play. From an artistic perspective, as I am also an artist, I sense the emotion in this. This song is so brilliantly done. It reminds me of so many emotions a person can feel. The song to me, transcribed into my life, is that there is hope within the darkness, and darkness within the light. Sorrow happens, but at the end, there is happiness. Just writing this makes me tear up because this also reminds me of a good person who has been wronged and manipulated against their thoughts, beliefs and purpose by others in life. They seek to come back from their fall, and to return to peace and prosperity where they once were. Truly an inspiring, inspirational peace that can be translated in so many ways. That is what makes this song so beautiful and truly radiant. Thank you Mac, you deserve that oscar. If anyone hasn't cried to this, I'll be shocked.

I bet behind the scenes the creators were ballin their eyes out for the beautiful performance of the actor of pepper. Jessica Laung was probably crying for real in this part of the episode.
So simple, yet so heart breaking.
I just rewatched this season, and I have to say that a part of me died after. The characters are so well-developed and they just dare you to feel bad for them. This piece made it all so much stronger. Especially in Pepper's backstory. My heart melted towards the end of the season. This was by far the best American Horror Story.

I now know that even now I can’t listen to this tune. Don’t get me wrong it’s so bloody beautiful! But, when I lost my grandad a few years ago this was the music that I had on a loop on my headphones when going to the hospital along with the devastating news and on the way back.
Today.. I tried listening to this again and all of that emotion from that day along with other things suddenly hit me. This is probably the only music that has ever done this to me. Freakshow and American Horror Story as a whole are literally everything to me.
Pepper's story will always always make my heart bleed in pain.

I worked with mentally disabled people at a summer camp every year. This scene had me balling like a little baby. Like " I had to change shirts from soaking it in tears" crying.

jamas crei llorar por diferentes historias con tragicos momentos... y en ese capitulo.. llore a mas no poder, porque me recordo a mi pasado de niña, el orfanato.. y el quedarse en lugares atrapada y sola.. ahora me da pena ver gente tratando mal a las personas diferentes... y me gustaria tener un lugar grande, para aquellos con diferencias..

I think it was my favorite episode of American Horror Story to date. The series has its flaws, yes, but it is also capable of some very great storylines and incredible acting performances. Of course I am thinking about the wonderful A-List actresses committed to this amazing show (Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, the legendary Kathy Bates) but in this episode, the lesser known Naomi Grossman totally stole the show from these ladies. I think everyone felt a strong affection for Pepper since her first appearance in Asylum (even more in Freak Show), but this episode was definitely HER moment. Everything in this episode just worked together to convey such strong emotions : from the perfect writing (thank you James Wong) to the incredible acting performance (thank you Naomi Grossman) and of course this marvellous and very emotional soundtrack (thank you Mac Quayle).
This track unequivocally earned its Emmy nomination, but I strongly think that Naomi Grossman deserved hers too..
