@@Chloe_Raine I agree Harry needed to get over the prefect thing, but he definitely did not have everything he could ever ask for. Harry was always low key jealous of Ron because Ron had what Harry didn't - family. And that makes sense considering Harry's upbringing.
@@tbird2249 I absolutely love how layered this is. The boys loved each other first and foremost, but always felt insecure about the things they didn't have that the other did. For Harry, it was family and a loving home life, parents who were alive and actually cared what happened to him. For Ron, it was feeling valued and respected, to not have to worry about money and affording things, to be recognized for his own merits and being good at something that was his. Both boys longed to be "normal" and found that normality they craved in their friendship with each other. Beautiful 🥲

It kinda pissed me off. In they second book, Hermione didn't even know what mudblood was, whilst in the movie she makes a whole drama about it. Ron is the one who understands the damage in those words.
My favorite Ron moment was when Percy sent him that bs long letter that warned him to stay away from Harry and Ron was ready to disown his own brother for him.
@@heirofthestarsno because they are all insanely brave one of the main traits of Gryffindors. They also have the loyalty trait it’s just more known as a hufflepuff one. I’m pretty sure the reason Harry is not in slytherin is literally because he didn’t wanna be a bad wizard and he doesn’t do stuff for his own benefit like ever. Which is one of slytherin main traits. Hermione could be in ravenclaw except for how brave she is which, again, would make her more of a Gryffindor
Ron Weasley's first instinct upon his friends coming to rescue him isn't "oh thank gods you're here," it's "you guys need to leave me here, this is a trap, please go before Sirius Black gets you"
Not to mention the man went through the first two books with a wand that was canonically almost purpose built to be terrible as a hand me down, which he was given as a hand me down, and was still doing functional magic (if not the highest quality) until the thing got snapped in half and broke completely. And then he finally got a wand that actually *worked* for him, and showed instant improvement, showing that yeah, he was a good wizard, but he was the equivalent of a great repair guy given a bunch of broken tools and no ways to repair the tool quality. In essence, he had a genuine reason to blame his tools.
@@theendersmirk5851 same thing with Neville if I remember right. His broke in book 5 and was a hand me down. Once he got his own personal wand he did a lot better.

One of the times they did him dirty was in poa when Snape tells Hermione she is an insufferable know it all and in the books he goes off and says “why did you ask if you didn’t want to be told” but in the films they literally just make him say “he has a point you know”
Ron was also smart in his own way in the books, its why i was so happy that he became a prefect. He literally knew so much about the wizarding world and helped harry whenever he can
in the first movie they let Hermione solve the Devil Snare trap completely by herself while Ron is just freaking out but in the books it's Hermione who figures out they need fire but says they don't have any wood and Ron says "Have you gone mad?! Are you a witch or not?!" It's Ron who reminds her she can do magic which saves them. They do him kinda dirty in the movies
Ron wasn't even calm about it, either. The text was literally all caps because he "bellowed" (exact word from the book) as in he yelled his lungs out at her simply for forgetting that she could use magic.
To be fair, that change was a bit more understandable because Hermione's potions trial was cut from the movie. So they needed to find somewhere else to let Hermione shine at the finale. Devil Snare trial was more of a group effort, so they changed that to be Hermione's trial instead. Meanwhile, Ron still got his own wizard chess trial later where he could show off his awesomeness. But I do agree that they should've made Ron act less panicky in the Devil Snare trial. That wasn't cool.
@@Lady_de_Lis They did him dirty in general in the movies, and Hermione got given plenty of Ron's moments from the books. In the movies he serves as little more than comic relief whereas in the books he is brave, protecting, and is the main anchor of Harry and Hermione to the magic world, do remember that they are both muggle raised.
@@smsebas Yes, I know. I'm just speaking specifically about the Devil Snare scene. I understand that Ron was done very dirty later in the series, but I don't think the Devil Snare scene is quite as bad as other examples. The only thing they really did wrong was make him act overly panicked during the scene.
That is due to the Screenwriter of all the movies, except Order of the Phoenix. Steve kloves giving all of Rons good lines to Hermione because Hermione was his favorite character in the series
@@geministargazer9830 he could have left both with their own lines from the books making both look good but he gave all of Ron's good lines to Hermione in order to make her look even better and Ron like a lazy no good attention seeking slacker.
One of my fav moments in the series is when Ron brings Harry to the burrow for the first time, and he feels slightly embarrassed because it is chaotic and messy and not like most houses. And Harry just says, "I think it's brilliant."
Yesss and I love that he’s not even trying to be nice he’s genuine because he’s so impressed with the magic and it’s the opposite of the dursleys house
My favorite Ron moment is from book 3 when Snape calls Hermione an insufferable know it all. The whole class gets mad, despite having called Hermione a know it all at least once, and Ron, who called her a know it all about twice a week stands up and says, “You asked a question and she answered it, why ask if you don’t want to be told” straight to Snape’s face. Ron is one of the reasons I can’t go back to the movies after reading the books.
The only time i didn't like Snape despite him being the most relatable character to me is when he said this to Hermione or any other instance of him insulting like, she's a kid bro grow up besides she's not one bit wrong, so.
Snape was such a pathetic man. He bullied children because he never got over his own childhood trauma. What happened to him wasn’t fair, but how he treated the kids he taught wasn’t fair either.
Movie Ron “He’s got a point you know.” Book Ron “You asked us a question and she knows the answer! Why ask if you don't want to be told?" Always makes me mad!
True, the way Movie's Ron passively antagonizes Hermione (which, granted, was actually an insufferable Ms Know-It-All due to the fact the scenarists wouldn't let her be humble for a breath) was pretty tiring and made the transition to lovers all that more chaotic...
once i saw a funny reddit comment that just went "hermione: you asked a question and i know the answer! why ask if you don't want to be told? the class cheered and snape evaporated"
They wasted Ginny too. She was shy in the first two books , bur after chamber of secrets she became quite confident , badass and very pretty. She was not the one luring around Harry tieing his shoe laces and putting cookies in his mouth. Harry was the one to initiate the relationship and then she started going out with him.
@@amritanair8519 I mean Hermione figured put how to beat the Potions obstacle in the Philsopher/Sorcerers stone figured out the monster was a Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets she figured out Lupin was a werewolf in the Prisoner of Azkaban (I'm re-reading the books so I have nothing for Goblet of Fire as of rn but I will have some soon) she put the x's on the doors when they didn't know which direction they came from in the Department of Mysteries in the Order of the Pheonix. Ron Weasley in the books: a brave and loyal friend who is human and makes mistakes. He experiences jealousy and he sometimes says things he doesn't mean, but he's there for Harry. Ron Weasley in the movies: I have red hair and Hermione says all my lines
YYEEEES! No one talks about that enough when they say how mischaracterized Hermione, Harry, and Ron (and Ginny) are. Especially Ron! Every time o reread books I’m like gahh!! They gave that line to Hermione and that one to Harry amd that one tonH again!!
@@CM-pf1xc My favorite part in the books was when Harry said to make a light, Hermione had a muggle-born moment saying there was no wood for a fire, and Ron reminded her she's a doggone witch. It will forever be a peak trio moment, and the recognition in the comments made me happy.
@@jonquilgemstone I mean, that's the kind of scenes that humbles Hermione down and show that if, yes, she is extremely educated for even a wizard of her age, she doesn't quite _live_ in this world as much as Ron does.
The moment that added more to how close Ron and Harry were had to be the moment in Goblet of Fire when Ron got super pissed at Karakaroff for giving Harry a damn 4 for the first task when all the others gave him close to 10 and Harry didn't care if Karakarofd even if Karakaroff had decided to give him 0 because he now had Ron by his side to look down at the bullies in indignation. And Hermione breaking down after the two made up telling how much she missed their stupidity and banters... I broke down too 🥹
Yeah!! They gave Hermione all of his best moments. He was my favourite character and they just turned him into a cowardly oaf. Same sort of thing happened to Ginny. She was a feisty badass in the books, in the movies she like a walking vegetable.
@@maizymusix Regardless of whether she accidentally stole lines, it's on the director to correct it and have the right final cut. But the director's bias (as stated in behind the scenes clips) for Hermione is ultimately the reason why that was left in, even if it was originally a mistake.
@@maizymusix Part of making him even dumber was that Steve Kloves just flat-out decided to give _all_ of the exposition to either Dumbledore (because he had seen it all) or Hermione (because she read it somewhere). Her finding out about James being a Seeker first in the movie was a bit creepy, and given her character's history (and that the first three books had been released before writing had begun), sadly ironic that she would say "it's in your blood" given how she is treated for hers.
They really gave Hermione all of Ron’s like cool best friend traits and then looked at Ron and said “you’re now the stupid pig sidekick! No one will question what you bring to the table by Book 7 when you leave! It’s the Harry and Hermione show!”
Omg, I hated that the movies did Ron so dirty! Like, seriously, he was waaaaaaaaaaaay more intelligent than the movies gave him credit for, and I'm just gonna point out one of my favorite book 1 lines: “There's no wood?” Ron bellowed. “Are you a witch or not?”
Same with Ginny. For Ron and her, they stole all their shine, that's why people who only watched the movies end up shipping Hermione with Harry, it's absurd when you've read the books because it's like shipping siblings...
Theres a reason the Ron Weasley Bashing tag on ao3 exists… a lot of people, after spending a lot of time in the fandom filled with ppl who only watched the movie, lost sight of who Ron was in the books… a great friend, and one who made mistakes as every human being does, but always tried to fix them ❤
@@oceanussolis1137 Well yes, perhaps, but Harry literally had no clue what that spell did, and also Malfoy was trying to hit him with the Cruciatus curse at the time. In Sirius's case, he knew what Lupin was capable of as a werewolf; and this wasn't an in-the-moment thing, he planned it.
“Let’s not start a fight with the serial killer PLEASE… Ron what are you doing?” Idk why this is hilarious to me Edit: How on planet earth did this get 7k likes?!
I just love how book Hermione would panic, it was realistic. You can't be the best at absolutely everything. The trio would always balance each other out in the books.
Ron in the books was the street smart one in the trio. He knows current events, he knew how to navigate the wizarding world at a level that Harry and Hermione couldn't.
This is so true. I can’t even explain it. In the movies, Hermione knew all about the wizarding world, but she wasn’t supposed to. Yeah, she was really book smart, but RON was the one who knew all about the wizarding world. He saved the trio so many times in the books.
What makes me sad is that not only do the movies make Ron seem like the third wheel, they also take away his charm, smarts, and his loyalty. Part of what makes that fight with Harry in the 7th book so devastating is that it is so out of character for him. And that makes the fact that he came back that much more powerful. One of my favorite lines in DH is when Ron says: "He must have known I'd run out on you." To which Harry replies: "No, he always knew you'd want to come back." Like, his FUNDAMENTAL character trait is his loyalty and bravery, and the movies totally ruined that. They make him seem like a tag-along who is forced to do things "just because," when that couldn't be further from the truth. Sorry for the Essay, but Ron is my favorite character and the way he was treated in the movies breaks my heart.
Their is a video about the director talking about the movies and how his favorite character was Hermione and that's why she is portrayed the way she is in the movies because he wanted her to be more of a main character than Ron
the fight in the 7th book made me cry so much. i was devastated, i never thought they would fight and i tried reading the book much faster to the part where they make up.
@@masonguthrie1257 He was a little stubborn and butted heads with Harry a lot because of certain things, which caused him to walk out on the group. But I think the primary reason it’s so important is because he ALWAYS came back, there was not one single time that he didn’t.
They gave Hermione a lot of Ron's lines too to make her look smarter, but all of the lines about History was originally Ron's. She was supposed to be naturally gifted at school things, but Ron was supposed to be the one that new about all the wizard History because of his wizard family, not Hermione. They really destroyed Ron in the movies and made him a stupid, scared, angry boy when he was actually so loyal, brave, and proud.
And for that I somehow feel bad for Rupert Grint, he's made to play a worse version of character many ppl hate. When HP ends, ppl just forget who Rupert Grint is
One of my favorite Ron moment in the book was in book 4 when Ron and Harry talked for the first time after the long cold shoulder. It was amazing because all Ron did was swearing at the professor about the terrible point he gave Harry and how everyone was fighting the dragon.

But if some dog actually but down hard enough to snap through bone...shit, im surprised the amputation isnt finished already.
@Jannik Sohn Sirius as an Animagus was a really big black dog,I used to think he was a wolf but later reading the books I realised he was a dog,a big one. He was trying to attack Peter Pettigrew who was in the form of a rat which Ron thought was Scabbers amd had put him in his pocket. The whole thing was much more eventful in the books than in the movies...ig they wanted to soften things up a bit for the younger viewers.

I love how in the movie you had Hermione’s hair pulled back, but it the book one it was more similar to how it’s actually described, kinda like how the movies had her hair as described for one movie and then just forgot about it. Idk if that was on purpose but either way it’s kind of funny
I've always kinda felt a bit upset at the fact that she also never had long front teeth. I know little Emma found it difficult to speak with the fake teeth but that plot sort of was important for Hermione's development and her duck to swan metamorphose. Instead we have beautiful Emma come down the stairs princess-like when she was already gorgeous and put together.
@Dreamie Queen Naaah. You can't say 'she never had long teeth' since she had them in one scene (Hogwarts Express) But yeah I agree. But from all appearance changes Harry's not-messy hair bothered me the most. And the fact that he hadn't Lily's eyes. Okay, Dan couldn't wear contact lenses. But they could've at least made sure that Lily's actress had the same eye color. That was SO important.

I disagree. We are quite lucky with what we got. Yes, we're not happy about Ron and Ginny and that they left out some stuff and lines. But overall we have a great casting, great music, great locations, great plot. They stuck to the books quite well. You want to redo the movies? You want someone else to play Snape? Hagrid? Vernon? EDIT: READ THE WHOLE DAMN THREAD BEFORE YOU POST 'bUt GoBlEt Of FiRe'. The movies did Ron dirty in several ways. They portrayed his as stupid, disloyal, and cowardly. Book Ron was Harry's ride or die the whole time. The ONLY time he wasn't at Harry's side was when he was literally being mentally tormented by the soul of freaking Voldemort every time he wore the Horcrux. Did he make mistakes? Sure. He was a teenager in the middle of a war. He had insecurities and hangups and was a teenage boy (and let's face it, all of us are damn stupid during those years), but he was loyal to his friends, brave and honourable, and was always ready to throw hands in Harry or Hermione's defense. Once you were Ron Weasely's friend, you were his friend for life.
Man I hate the movies especially the first ones since that where the problem started. The first director was a hard fan of Hermione and didn't like Ron hence why Ron is like that on the movies

They can still say they don't like Ron in the movies. Btw Ron isn't everyone's favorite even if they read the books. I like him. But he's definitely not one of my favorites.
@@jollyquinn430 I can understand that. As you can tell he is one of my favourites but mainly in the books. In my experience and most of the people I have spoken to about Harry Potter that have a sore opinion of Ron base it all off of characteristics he was given in the movies. Which I feel is an unfair assumption. I don't understand the people who don't like him but have only seen the movies because they only have the perspective of a director who very much preffered hermione and made that clear in his retelling of the original series. You don't have to love him and I love people who have read the books who can come at me with reasons they don't like Ron (or any other character) that align with the books more than the movies because the movies did ruin his character massively. But most people I've met that have read the books, even if he isn't their favourite character, they still like him because he's a full person and is generally a more positive and likable person. Unlike the movies where he is whiny to the point of being annoying (which I know he cam be in the books) without having the good qualities to offset that side of him because they were all given to hermione instead.
I don't like ron very much (I've read the books I promise you) he just really gets on my nerves with his constant moaning and how quickly he abandons harry (I also don't like Harry but ignore that for now) in the goblet of fire book. I wouldn't say I hate him but he is definitely not that great of a charecter in the books. He gets jealous so easily and takes that out on the people around him and I don't like the way he tries to control Ginny's relationships. Luna is my favourite character LOL
@@leobeboop4944 The only reason I dislike characters is when they're poorly written. Ron is a brilliantly written character exactly for those character flaws you pointed out. He seems so much more human when we see him do dumb stuff that makes us mad. And then when he overcomes it, we feel satisfied because we saw who he was and who he becomes. All this to say: you can absolutely dislike a character for whatever reasons you want, but if all our characters are perfect from the get-go (never give in to jealousy, hatred, moments of weakness) then the story would be boring.
The scene that PISSED ME OFF was when Harry went to Voldemort to die in Deathly Hallows 2 and Ron doesn’t look remotely upset about it. My man just stood there.
No ron just have lost his brother and he and harry both knew if he have hugged him ron wouldn't let him goo that's why harry nooded his head when he was coming towards him cause he knew what it meant to him
I think the friendship between Ron and Harry is so well established in the books. In Goblet of Fire when Ron stops talking to Harry because of the name on the goblet of fire thing, it's such a sad part of the book. They are such good best friends, and Harry hates not being able to spend time with Ron.
I've always seen it like Ron is the James to Harry's Sirius, seeing James welcomed Sirius to his family, just like Ron did to Harry. (Also James fell in love with a smart muggleborn, the parallels!)
@@justaperson6224 Yeah you totally got it, Harry abused childhood has more in comun with Sirius than with james, and James gave Sirius his family as Ron did to Harry.
More proof that Team Starkid understood the characters better than the moviemakers. At the end of A Very Potter Musical, Voldemort says "who are you going to use as a human shield this time Potter?" and Ron immediately starts to walk forward. Hermione has to pull him back.
Honestly when I read POA that scene made me burst into tears. I was miffed when Hermione had his lines. Hermione has her own strengths different from Ron’s.
I think the way they portray the characters different between Book/Movie is the reason my mom told me I should read all the books first and I’m glad I did.
I personally think its the opposite way. If you read the books first, you get angry at the movies for getting it so wrong. If you watch the movies first, you can enjoy the books more when the story turns out even better than you knew.
@@dalehammers4425 That’s one way to look at it and it’s more positive as well but in the end I’d much rather have the proper complete story first than have bits and pieces with something new added in just so I don’t twist up the real thing yk?
Book Ron is not only more loyal but more brave and above all so much more knowledgeable. In the books Ron gives them key Wizarding info many times because he grew up around all the Wizarding world. In the movies it feels like Ron was muggle born too.
The books Harry: *gets in trouble* Hermione: *trys to solve it in the most mature, logical, and safest way possible* Ron: *yeets himself into trouble to try save Harry. Usually a not very smart move.*
Ron was actually really brave and selfless treated his friends like family in movies he was portrayed more like harry's sidekick that's why i prefer books over movies . In fact A lot of characters were better in books
One of the many sins against Ron that the movies committed but that really stood out to me was when Snape calls Hermione an insufferable knowitall in POA. Li. The book Ron stands up for Hermione, in the move he says “he’s kind of right you know”; he literally agrees with his and Harry’s worst enemy - which isn’t even in character for the full version. It’s like they had. A vendetta against the character.
Pretty sure at least one screenwriter admitted later that he hated Ron and purposefully gave some of Ron’s best moments to Hermione just to screw Ron over
Hermione and Ron must have meant THE WORLD to Harry. Growing up I didn’t have the best childhood (not as worse as Harry even remotely tho). I had couple of friends in my class and going to school was the only thing I was looking forward to bcz that was my break from reality. Back then I didn’t think much but I would fight for them. Now when I look back I feel so grateful for my friends, they helped me a lot unknowingly and made my childhood better❤
Ron is my favourite character. He is just the most realistic. From being overshadowed and then painted a stupid but actually really smart. Ron is amazing. They painted hermione as a smart intelligent wise goddess and Ron was kicked to the curb
I hated that. Not just because Ron was genuinely a great character, but also because it felt like Hermione wasn't allowed to be the flawed teenager she WAS. Like yes, she was smart and always had a backup plan, but she also got in her own head a lot and was sometimes needlessly cruel over her own morals
Ron Weasley in the books was like how Samwise in Lord of the Rings was, the best friend who would do anything for both Ron and Hermione and is so brave. Starkid’s version was almost closer to the books than the movies will ever be.

What makes this even better is in the book Ron had a broken leg, no wand, and was on the verge of passing out and was still ready to throw hands
Not to mention the man went through the first two books with a wand that was canonically almost purpose built to be terrible as a hand me down, which he was given as a hand me down, and was still doing functional magic (if not the highest quality) until the thing got snapped in half and broke completely. And then he finally got a wand that actually *worked* for him, and showed instant improvement, showing that yeah, he was a good wizard, but he was the equivalent of a great repair guy given a bunch of broken tools and no ways to repair the tool quality. in the first movie they let Hermione solve the Devil Snare trap completely by herself while Ron is just freaking out but in the books it's Hermione who figures out they need fire but says they don't have any wood and Ron says "Have you gone mad?! Are you a witch or not?!" It's Ron who reminds her she can do magic which saves them. They do him kinda dirty in the movies
Ron wasn't even calm about it, either. The text was literally all caps because he "bellowed" (exact word from the book) as in he yelled his lungs out at her simply for forgetting that she could use magic.
bro i only watched the movies and when i read ron screaming at hermione i could finally better appreciate the fact that they got together in the end

Yes, I know. I'm just speaking specifically about the Devil Snare scene. I understand that Ron was done very dirty later in the series, but I don't think the Devil Snare scene is quite as bad as other examples. The only thing they really did wrong was make him act overly panicked during the scene.
I get that they can't fully flesh out Ron's character in the movies but the fact that they straight up give his coolest moments to Hermione is a crime

One of my favorite lines in DH is when Ron says:
"He must have known I'd run out on you."
To which Harry replies:
"No, he always knew you'd want to come back."
Like, his FUNDAMENTAL character trait is his loyalty and bravery, and the movies totally ruined that. They make him seem like a tag-along who is forced to do things "just because," when that couldn't be further from the truth.

sorry had to do that joke.
i have to read them again. the last time was at least 5 years ago. longer... maybe 10
True. They wouldn't be alive without Hermione hahaha
“I dreamed I was buying new shoes last night," said Ron. "What d'ya think that's gonna mean?"
"Probably that you're going to be eaten by a giant marshmallow or something," said Harry.”
These two are gold
TRUE
People don’t understand how alike the golden trio era and the marauder era are… like I am OBSESSED with both so much and I see SO many similarities….
Books Ron was the friend that you have to take responsibility for when you tell him that your partner cheated and he's already heading out the door with a baseball bat.
Well, I may want to read the books now
@@voidtectonic you should! Every character is so much better in the books and so much funnier.
I loved that scene in the books. His leg was mangled and he was in so much pain but he still stood up to defend Harry, wandless
wandless 😭‼️
The whole thing about the Weasleys is they will fuck you up and ask questions later on behalf of their squad.
Especially Ginny, more especially if you insult Harry in front of her lol.
@@proximitive3872 Hey, not a director! It was a screenwriter.
Bro the movies changed so much. When I was younger I tried picking out the little details they changed by reading the book in a week and then watching the movie in tv. Like movie, coward weird characters. Book sassy, bad ass, and attitude
The movies took a lot of Ron’s pets and gave them to other characters because the writers and directors thought it would make the story better.
Frrr
Ron is the kind of friend we would all be blessed to have.
For real, that line fits Ron's character so much better!
THANK YOU!! I've been saying this for years, it always infuriated me when people say they didn't like Ron. It was always so clear to me that they hadn't read the books because if they had Ron would be one of their favourite characters.
Ron was really funny and witty in the books!
The scene that PISSED ME OFF was when Harry went to Voldemort to die in Deathly Hallows 2 and Ron doesn’t look remotely upset about it. My man just stood there.
Sameee
No ron just have lost his brother and he and harry both knew if he have hugged him ron wouldn't let him goo that's why harry nooded his head when he was coming towards him cause he knew what it meant to him
Same!!😢😢😢😢
And this is why I have a crush on freaking Ron Weasley 🤣😭✨🤍🩷🙏🏼
The only moment in the movies we actually got of Ron trying to stand up for himself was the “eat slugs” moment. 😭✋🏽
I think the friendship between Ron and Harry is so well established in the books. In Goblet of Fire when Ron stops talking to Harry because of the name on the goblet of fire thing, it's such a sad part of the book. They are such good best friends, and Harry hates not being able to spend time with Ron.
Hermione is just like: “Kill me, fine, just dont let me get expelled.”
The moment most people realise that Ron is the Sirius to Harry's James.
@@justaperson6224 and in the 7th book, Harry thinks he’s a reckless Godfather to Teddy Lupin, like Sirius was to him
Ron was such a bro-mate in the books, like he was ready to do absolutely anything with and for Harry.
Nothing infuriates me more than Hermione explaining what Mudblood means.
I thought I was the only one! I just fast forward that part
More proof that Team Starkid understood the characters better than the moviemakers.
At the end of A Very Potter Musical, Voldemort says "who are you going to use as a human shield this time Potter?" and Ron immediately starts to walk forward.
Hermione has to pull him back.
You nailed it, I've always said that AVPM captured the feel of the books way better than any of the movies did
The entirety of I'm Just a Sidekick in AVPSY encapsulates Ron's character PERFECTLY, in a way the films never ever did
Yeah, some of the moviemakers had a clear (and honestly creepy) obsession with child actress Emma Watson…
The very potter musicals are phenomenal
THANK YOU!!! The screenwriter of the films was a Harry/Hermione shipper. He totally threw Ron under the bus.
Honestly when I read POA that scene made me burst into tears. I was miffed when Hermione had his lines. Hermione has her own strengths different from Ron’s.
Also with Ginny. She had like no personality at all in the movies, whilst she was a very strong character with actual personality traits in the books
In the movies she was very please come rescue me 🥺 and in the books she was throwing hexes at people that spoke to her or her friends the wrong way
Ron was ferral. That's why we loved him.
You are the only person reminding me of the actual personalities of these characters.
I feel like only the first two films potrayed him for what he truly was. ... Kudos to the director ❤
Book Ron is not only more loyal but more brave and above all so much more knowledgeable. In the books Ron gives them key Wizarding info many times because he grew up around all the Wizarding world. In the movies it feels like Ron was muggle born too.
That thing when Ron runs his hands over Harry's hairs just like his brothers did to him to show affection🥺❤️
Can you imagine how proud Sirius was of Ron in that moment when he thought back on it later? ❤
The books
Harry: *gets in trouble*
Hermione: *trys to solve it in the most mature, logical, and safest way possible*
Ron: *yeets himself into trouble to try save Harry. Usually a not very smart move.*
Ron was actually really brave and selfless treated his friends like family in movies he was portrayed more like harry's sidekick that's why i prefer books over movies . In fact A lot of characters were better in books
Even Sirius was like "Ron, bro...sit down I'm worried about your leg. I appreciate your loyalty but sit down please"
Quintessential Ron moment and it was given to someone else
One of the many sins against Ron that the movies committed but that really stood out to me was when Snape calls Hermione an insufferable knowitall in POA. Li. The book Ron stands up for Hermione, in the move he says “he’s kind of right you know”; he literally agrees with his and Harry’s worst enemy - which isn’t even in character for the full version. It’s like they had. A vendetta against the character.
Yea I totally agree.
Pretty sure at least one screenwriter admitted later that he hated Ron and purposefully gave some of Ron’s best moments to Hermione just to screw Ron over
@@jasonhenry8067 that's just sad wtf. Smh hope their dumbass ain't working again
Bro was ready to throw hands even though he knew Sirius could have killed them all without a sweat
I adore Hermione of course but it’s so frustrating that they gave SO MANY of Ron’s great character moments to her in the movies.
Starkid is amazing
Book Ron was my favorite character. He was the best. They did him dirty in the movies.
