Its a GTS with 40k miles. Owner changed the oil twice during his 15k mile ownership. Also has seen very cold days since it is in Pittsburg, PA. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance.
Peter first off, the MC victory is the best GS made period. Congrats on picking one up. 100% of the wet sump cars will have cam variator failure . How do you get the sticky off the buttons, I just purchased a 2010 Maser Quattroporte S Executive GT , trying everything to take it off and not the white. What actually works, tried makeup wipes, alcohol wipes it's on so thick. Please help.
There is a product for tint removal called ATR that I use on all Ferrari and a Maserati. It works great. Under some of the sticky the whole button is white. I typically send those few buttons out to be re coated in a hard material. There are several companies that offer a service as well
So would ATR take off the printed white symbols that show what the button does? I want to make sure it won't take off the white silk screened symbol. Many thanks. Where would I get this ATR?
@@tonystark9118 atr solution is available several places on the net , you can get it here atrsolution.com. If you use it gently and dilute about 20% it only dissolves the sticky. Some of the buttons are white and the sticky is combined with the paint. Even those can be done if you are careful. I did all mine
You know brother I liked you immediately, Like bumping into a long not seen cousin or something. I loved your description but incredibly this manner of describing the ethnicity of the car which was going so well would've notched up by a mad multiple if you had indeed bought one of the manual cars and not just learnt how to drive it but learnt how to ride it. I just know that you would`ve loved it. Just by what comes over by what you know is important in a car. I insist you would`ve loved it broth. As it is, you missed out on the so organic multi-task. Like while on a huge beast you find yourself instinctively sing multiple spur jabs of the belly with your riding boots, multiple tugs on the rains, some deft, some harsh, subtlety disguised aggression, you lean back, lean forward, all that which goes with a galloping horse that once in full flight is its own reward. The auto is like any other cars auto and you drive like you "drive" any other car but the f1 gearbox is something enthusiasts will gladly own this car for. I once read it described as an organ player playing Puccini or at least that's what it would look like to your friends and family. As you do multiple things to create multiple bellows from the exhaust. The sound of the overrun on the downshift its so dark so sinister it`s those lower registers on the organ, those bass notes designed for the baritone of the opera, whatever musical piece is being played has just got darker. When you do it just right Brother I can't tell you how addictive that is, it`s a thousand times more addictive than the WOT on the run up through the revs through tunnels you well described.
Winston Johnson thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I do own a GranSport with the automated manual, love it in that car and perhaps a duoselect is the missing piece. I will do my best to spend some time in one soon and perhaps amend this criticism! Cheers!
@Tim's Enthusiast Garage I am about to pull the trigger on a 07 M139 Maserati Quattroporte with ZF transmission with 52k miles. Believe it is an Executive GT. Has four zone climate (clue I have) The car had two previous owners always serviced at two dealers Auto Gallery and Ferrari/Maserati Newport Beach. I come from BMW M cars and the price of $16.5k is just too cheap to pass it up. I am getting a mobile PPI done tomorrow (wish I had time to get it to a Maserati independent) and flying to LA on Friday to buy it and drive it back to Las Vegas. Any thoughts, tips to look for before pulling the trigger.
Check the visors, a lot of them are broken and won’t stay up, def a problem with these. It should have already had the cam variators done. If it hasn’t that will need doing on the wet sump car. Budget 3k or so for that if it hasn’t been done. I would also have them insure the heater core has either been replaced or doesn’t need doing. Other than that just straight forward stuff. If it hasn’t had a trans filter and fluid change I would do that too just to insure no future issues.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Thank you Tim. I am waiting for the PPI report this evening to see details as it was completed earlier today. Any idea how I can get hold of the actual repairs done at the dealers? Carfax shows the mileage intervals when it was serviced (every ~5kmiles/yearly) but not specific item for example, the cam variators service. I can see the selling dealer (non-Maserati Autonation) just did the following items under the "autonation pre-owned inspection": 1. A/C Evacuate Recharge 2. Brake job (front & rear) 3. Oil change 4. Transmission/Driveline Diagnostics - perform scan test for codes. Inspect for fluid level, condition and transmission for leaks. Transmission fluid replacement road test. 5. new battery.
@@chowdhurykarim4236 I always call the dealer to discuss items of interest . Sometimes they will provide records though that is somewhat a violation or prior owner privacy rights … it’s a grey area

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I already have subscribe the channel right at the very beginning of the video -:). You definitely are into Maserati - my favourite brand - and have some very interesting stuff on your channel.
I love the E60 M5 and this generation of the Quatroporte. To say the M5 isn’t fast is silly though. Maybe you got a lemon. Your example of the Maserati is perfect spec.
Alex Martinez the E60 had the largest maintenance history I have had with a car since an early ur quattro I had years back. It was a nightmare car. Flat out at higher speeds it was faster than the MAS but neither car is particularly rapid compared with modern M Or Audi RS cars. The M5 would default to low power mode once a week always a different sensor , always on a sensor that had already been replaced. I have driven a few M6 and M5 and I don’t know, I think they are just to be avoided. The e39, I have never had anything but a great experience in one of those. The f12 is massively fast and the e60... it’s one of the best sounding cars of all time bar non (especially with exhaust) but owning one seems like it would be a never ending nightmare. I love the m139 QP. It’s flawed, it’s not super fast but it is a charmer.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I think you were unlucky with your e60. I drove 5 before I settled on my e61. And things have gone wrong with it, but any car that can do 110 with engine on reduced power limp home mode has earnt my respect. I love the look of the M139 especially yours in red and tan. If one came up I could be tempted then I'd have beauty and the beast!
Robert Walton-Sharp I wish I had a different experience. 10 cylinders (and 5 cylinder engines for that matter) are amazing units. The e61 wagon is sooooo sexy. Sadly we don’t get that in the states. Anything wagon is better than sedan. They are glorious. I will look for another one at some point and perhaps my mind will be changed.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I was looking for a Maserati because I can't afford a Ferrari this year. However, with three BMWs in the fold the wife will not take kindly to another so it has to be perfect. The e61 is not faultless, driving it smoothly is like trying to ride a tiger that has seen red meat. Though an e39 is better around town with the manual shift, I think the v10 is more fun overall and dare I say it the SMG paddle experience is rewarding on a track and such fun on an open road. See ua-cam.com/video/TAJBy3ppLqU/v-deo.html for Fifth Gear's review. Yes, I know a bit British and dated. Fast, safe, practical and in dark blue a bit of a sleeper. So very different from Maserati, Ferrari and Bentley, but I see to good in different models.
Robert Walton-Sharp I totally appreciate your passion. The GranSport is the best Maserati on the used market at the moment. If you haven’t watched my video on that car it could be a good resource. I will do a review on e60 At some point. You have reinvigorated my interest . Cheers !!
You are amazing man, I just got QP 08 sport GT as your but could tell me which one is sport GTS? bcz on the door they said Sport GT? and someone call it Sport GTS...... second question : did you repaint your QP? why your car color really sexy 3rd question : how you got this exhaust sound ? which brand did you use
TOP TOKYO thanks for watching and congratulations on the purchase of a Quattroporte. The GTS is rare, has differ brakes, no skyhook suspension (it has coil overs) and says “GTS” on the pillars and in the car. The sport GT and executive packages are more common with the sport GT having larger wheels, mesh grills and different trim options. This car’s colour is called Bordeaux P. and it is actually a fairly common colour in the states. The exhaust is from a company called TopSpeed Pro 1. I highly recommend it on this car. Of all the cars I have heard it sounds the most exotic. Many people straight pipe their QP but I think that makes it a bit too unrefined. Please subscribe to my channel! Also there is an exhaust video with more information about the company.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Yeah I could kick myself for selling the spyder. Hey Tim I wonder if you could offer some mentorship on a 612 ? You have been singing my song with the Mas gear. The term bulletproof never gets mentioned when discussing Bentleys. I realized the 612 is so much more me than the Bentley.
@@rayhapes yeah, honestly, the 612 is probably the reliable choice between the 2. If you find one in nice spec , particularly HGTE it would be an amazing “do everything” car
Duo select trans is not the problem, it's the electronic when driven in automatic mode ,simply is not fast enough for F1 transmission so the clutch slips too much, but driven in manually it can last for ever ,that's what people say in Europe it was made for to be driven this way. There is a company called Formula electronics that makes bypass modules ( drive by wire) that improve the automatic mode drive way better for the clutch.
Ciao From Australia . Hey Tim, Just found you fantastic Chanel. I have been into BMW of all M kind but want to go back to my Italian heritage. Would you choose a 3200 twin turbo over the grand sport ? What’s faster and cheaper to maintain? What sounds better with a modded exhaust. Alternatively the quotroporte looks and sounds even better than the grand sports and my mechanic said he can tune it for an extra 30 hp. Help me bro if u have time to reply 😬So confusing what to chooses. many thanks. Dante.
dspada67 thanks for watching. Watch my GranSport video. The end of the line 4200 are by far the best developed and most reliable. My GS has been a far superior car to my QP. I would love to have a 3200 but reliability wise the late GS 4200 are superior. Hope this helps.
dspada67 I hope you get the GS. Don’t fear the water pump as it is far less an issue that the myriad electrical possibilities with QP. The oil cooler can be sorted out fairly inexpensively and is less an issue than forums would have you believe. Cheers!!
Not those interior plastics! I mentioned in my comment on your GranSport video that we have two M139 Quattroportes in the family, and that means I've had to detail the sticky plastics on them both. It's a total nightmare and it's honestly a shame, considering how such a fantastic car was let down some in a very simple and easily avoidable way. There certainly should have been a class-action lawsuit over it. However, since the only thing to do about it was clean it myself, that's what I did. There is a name-brand product from Indonesia (I think), called Sticky Melting Solution, but plenty of household cleaners will work just fine. On the first Maserati, I dealt with it by way of using that [expensive] product; on the second Maserati, I tried make-up-removing wipes and Windex-the latter of which I chose for its ammonia content. The second time around, I had much better luck with the buttons: I had learned from my initial attempt, and I also happened to be working with buttons whose rubber coating was far more melted than that of the buttons in the first car. The only thing that gave me grief was that certain parts (in particular, panels and other pieces of trim) had a coating too thick to fully remove. For instance, that plastic flip-up cover over the cigarette lighter required from me *15 minutes* of wet sanding (for which I had to remove the piece from the car), and an eventual repaint. I'd have done this for all such panels, but some of them would require major disassembly of certain components. I had to leave the stickiness on the bezels around the rear window shades, and I also had to leave it around the window switches. (I was able to clean the buttons themselves, but the surrounding plastic was just not cleanable.) Either way, I totally transformed both cars-the second one, especially: my brother's car. After cleaning all the sticky buttons, repainting a few pieces, vacuuming the carpets, washing the exterior; doing a cleaning/conditioning of all leather surfaces, and performing a painstaking and meticulous agitation and cleaning of all the seats, I had around 20 personal hours sunken into the detailing. Totally worth it, though, to see the interior now! I'd love to share pictures, if there's some way I can.
Message me on Instagram. I would love to see images !! Yes. Unquestionably there should have been a class action law suit. The GS has a couple pieces In the QP it’s like the whole interior. I used a product called atr mixed with water. Time consuming but brilliant result .
Denatured alcohol works best. I cleaned all the sticky surfaces on my 2005 Quattroporte. I still have the original clutch at 62000 miles driven only on manual sport mode. This is a manual car for petrol heads only.
Tim's Enthusiast Garage Yea, man. Amazing cars. Great store. (Though it was a Cambiocorsa with GranSport looks. Will buy a GranSport- the right one, asap.)
Auto Trimmers 1500 . Two years I had only oil change services. Generally speaking a car like this WILL need an expensive item 2-3 years time so 1500 a year and bank it if nothing breaks for when you do need to service an expensive item

Er, excuse me you said "the e60 M5 1:47 wasn't fast, 1:48 didn't sound great, wasn't comfortable." The M5 is not a limousine if you want comfort buy a Bentley, but the M5 with EDC is better than the 550i without. Perhaps you didn't set the iDrive to p500 and never adjusted the gearshift to 5 bars or didn't use the gears to go above 3,000rpm. The M139 QP is a beautiful car, but it only has 4.2L with 395 and the 4.7 barely more. The e60, e61 or e63 are ruthlessly efficient driving machines that with do 200 and out brake and run rings around a Maserati, sounding super fantastic doing it.
I have a Bentley Arnage and do appreciate it. the E39 M5 is a great car. Well resolved, reliable, nearly perfect. The E60 is a dreadful thing. Of the 7-8 cars I have driven for more than 400 miles, each has had a sensor error or failure reducing the power and revs including when I test drove one new. With stock pipes the note is barely more interesting than the slovenly Audi v10. It’s a hard pass for me. The QP is a delight and more fun to hustle. An e46 330 is a better car than the e60 😜. If you love it then by all means enjoy it. For me it’s just a huge let down every time. Redlined in every gear, gear shift set as hard as possible it’s still impossible to overlook the diff whine suggesting impending doom, the smell of burning bearings and the Idrive disaster keeping you from ever feeling like you want spend time in it.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage wow! Nice! Can't wait! I really like driving my 05 CC coupe, too bad people knows nothing about this car 😥 ...I took mine to cars and coffee all the time, people are shocked when they see that beautiful dry sump unit...
OK. I came very close to pulling the trigger on one of these in 2011. I went with a 2005 XJR instead. My main reason for going the jag route was the motors. The Maser needs to rev. That's a blessing and a curse, especially for a "daily". I found myself dreading the gasoline bills with extended QPorte ownership. Sure is a looker though, especially the interior. And that exhaust note! You make a great argument, to the point where I started shopping for QPorte's on Autolist! Wouldn't it be fun to produce a comparison video between this car and a 2008 XJR?
I had a 2006 XJR ( I had the earlier gens as well). I put 15k miles on the R. Loved it. It didn’t make you love it the way the QP does but in most ways it was a better car. I would do a comparison if I could get both cars together
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage That's another dream: Start doing "recent classic" comparos. I can think of many comparos to do similarly to a X351/m139 comparo. Getting 'em together would be the challenge, but a worthy challenge to try to overcome. 2014 XKR comparo with 2014 SL63 would be another very timely side by side to do.
Anyone from the whole of humanity LOVES the 5 series, it's the daddy of saloons and the E60 M5 is the masterpiece of masterpieces and this Goliath of a man didn't like it??? I've been driving a 5 series (E39 and E60) for almost 20 years now I wouldn't drive anything else
I drove a 2003 e39 M5 today. Each and every time I drive the e39 my completely justified hatred for the e60 is emboldened. It is a complete and total disaster and in particular the M5. Electronic issues, transmission issues, engine rod bearings, engine throttle body issues. The worst MMI of all time, horrible plastic materials that split and splinter l. Rubbish bushings the list is vast. Enjoy your e39 M5, it’s the best M5 they ever made.

I can see the selling dealer (non-Maserati Autonation) just did the following items under the "autonation pre-owned inspection":
1. A/C Evacuate Recharge
2. Brake job (front & rear)
3. Oil change
4. Transmission/Driveline Diagnostics - perform scan test for codes. Inspect for fluid level, condition and transmission for leaks. Transmission fluid replacement road test.
5. new battery.

I will do a review on e60
At some point. You have reinvigorated my interest . Cheers !!
You are amazing man, I just got QP 08 sport GT as your but could tell me which one is sport GTS? bcz on the door they said Sport GT? and someone call it Sport GTS......
second question : did you repaint your QP? why your car color really sexy
3rd question : how you got this exhaust sound ? which brand did you use
Love the Mas, you're right about the GS in the back ther. I owned an 03 Spyder GT manual..what a great car!
I currently have a 4200 that has been mostly GranSport’d . They are nearly impossible to beat for the money
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Yeah I could kick myself for selling the spyder. Hey Tim I wonder if you could offer some mentorship on a 612 ? You have been singing my song with the Mas gear. I owned the last Alfa 164 titled in the US and and GTV Q4 in college. I have come so close to buying a 07+ QP, I own a 14 Audi RS 5 Convertible now, very cool.
You mentioned a Bentley when you reviewed the 612. I was looking for an 03-09 Arnage when Brooklands caught my eye. Very apprehensive about upkeep $$$. Your 612 review completely opened my eyes.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Yeah ...something practical😅
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage now, what is hgte?
Duo select trans is not the problem, it's the electronic when driven in automatic mode ,simply is not fast enough for F1 transmission so the clutch slips too much, but driven in manually it can last for ever ,that's what people say in Europe it was made for to be driven this way. There is a company called Formula electronics that makes bypass modules ( drive by wire) that improve the automatic mode drive way better for the clutch.
In the QP it is so slow that even with the FD module it still slips more than the 4200/GS.
Hello I love this video. How much did you pay for the pro exhaust?
Allgas Off-road thanks so much for watching. I believe I paid around 1000. Well worth it
Ciao From Australia . Hey Tim, Just found you fantastic Chanel. I have been into BMW of all M kind but want to go back to my Italian heritage. Would you choose a 3200 twin turbo over the grand sport ? What’s faster and cheaper to maintain? What sounds better with a modded exhaust. I found a nice grand sports with a new clutch but i am petrified of the water pump , oil cooler repair, I hear it’s like 10 k aud to do?.
Tim's Enthusiast Garage thanks so much for the reply mate.
dspada67 I hope you get the GS. Don’t fear the water pump as it is far less an issue that the myriad electrical possibilities with QP. The oil cooler can be sorted out fairly inexpensively and is less an issue than forums would have you believe. Cheers!!
Sweet. I have a 2002 Cambiocorsa and a 2007 ZF sport gt in my garage as well.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Will do! And, yes, that's a relief that the GS hasn't nearly the amount of buttons and such as the QP has.

It has been sold but I still have the GS
