I have watched alot of these videos and this boy has made this so simple an easy to understand. Instead of trying to make himself sound so intellectual, using big words, telling long useless stories, etc ..........for me this is one of the best videos. What a wise ole owl!!
I shed a tear at the end because up until the song I felt like a little red dot. When I heard the audacity of the boy saying he wants to change the world I asked what a big white rock would have asked "how can someone like you change the world?". Then I realised I've still got a way to go before I become a little red dot.
As raw as this speech sounds, and the flaws & slight awkwardness many may feel in his singing, it further emphasizes his message, on the mindset and attitude of trying. This is really a great presentation & I'm so proud that it is coming out from my own country and from a young fellow Singaporean. Thank you!
+QingHui Er I'll ask Dylan to reply directly to you. Thank you for your kind words. For me, I want him to know there's no model answer in life but to try, and try your best.
Calvin Soh If this is your son, I am beyond proud of what he has produced via this Ted Talk. I have never been so inspired and invested in a talk as with this. fFantastic parenting and a marvelous son you have.
thank you guys so much. I promise to never stop and continue to make the world a bit better than before. With my dad, of course. only i take all the credit. XD
+DYL4N Really? Here is a suggestion to walk the talk - work towards booting out casinos out of Singapore. Singaporeans never voted to bring in casinos, we never want casinos in our living room, had we wanted, we would have move to other countries. Casinos were shoved down our throats. Looking forward to making Singapore a better place than before.
+Ishah Kahan the talk was about dreaming big and making things happen. So if banning casinos are your thing, then you go make it happen. I don't think you can ask a 12 year old who doesn't even know black jack to do that.
One of the best TedTalks out there. Great perspective from a young man. Listen to his big ideas and implement them into your life. Fear results from the unknown and trying unveils the unknown, thus destroying fear. Well-spoken boy with a bright future ahead if he stays on this path!
Outstanding! I may be over twice his age, but there is so much to be learnt and inspired by in his words. Definitely will be reciting the "Try" song when tough times come my way.:)
THIS IS TOO AMAZING HOW DO I SAY WHAT I LIKE THE MOST SO AWESOME THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE FEW VIDS THAT HAVE ACTUALLY INSPIRED ME THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY!!!!
You are an inspiration, not only for other kids your age but everyone. You are a credit to your family. your country and to the world. Thank you for sharing your big red dot with me :).
+Bernice Ng He wrote and rehearsed a speech previously. But in the end, he decided to tell a story rather than do a presentation. Thanks to Dave Lim of Ted X who also suggested it.
He is just fabulous. Future leader for Singapore !!

I believe in you, Dylan & the little red dot. My favourite phrase from your talk - we grow old when we don't take risks in life.

Calvin Soh I believe you are Dylan's father, very well written, inspirational, and what a great son you've raised! (:
+QingHui Er Fatherhood is a long game. I can only set the direction. Let's see where life leads us.

Thank you. Last I checked, he's still my son.

I believe this young man is one of the many I hope for our future.
Sage and self-confident! I admire you!😍
I'm imagining him watching this back when he's 40 and how he might feel. I hope he will feel proud and keep some of his idealism.
We hope so too. Part of our role is to keep his idealism alive for as long as possible. Like he said, from a world of yes, maybes and no.
"You get old by not taking risk" I love this
Thank you young man. I'm glad to know you're apart of the future of our world.
Wonderful message and delivered with passion. Every school child should be shown this Video in their Classroom.
Too Good. Stay blessed ever.
