Wow you truly break down this topic better than so many educators with at least 100x your following. Will watch more of you content, and hope you continue to create it!
Hi Luigi, thanks for the kind comment! I intend to make more investing-related videos. If you have specific topics or questions you'd like answered, please let me know! Have a great day :)
Really enjoyed this, thanks! As an inspiring investor/ someone looking to expand their assets I think videos like this really keep things simple without it coming off as remedial. Really well done!
@@fksebati You as well! I think almost as a follow up a video further delving into what qualities you look for in the team being you marketed that as the high point of importance may be helpful. Though that might be a bit too in depth for a free platform. Either way- I appreciate the efforts and am happy to have stumbled up this & hope to gather more info from you/ connect!
@@chadcole1398 That sounds great! I have a few videos planned out already for UA-cam over the next few weeks/months, and I'll add this idea to the mix for a future video as well!

Good question. Most likely the startup will have a contract for you to sign rather than you producing the investment contract. The only time the investor will bring forward the contract is if they've done this dozens of times and/or they're leading the round. Similarly if it's a venture capital fund, they will use their own contracts.
Well, I don't really have a lot of credit card debt. I just have one which it will be paid soon. But if I were to wait until my student loans are paid, I would be waiting forever or never invest at all. Sorry I have wasted enough time waiting already, so I'm going to invest anyway. Your other points are good though. Appreciate the breakdown
Great points, investing in the public market is much different than investing and startups. Keep an eye on the interest rate on your debt and of course you should get started with public investing!
Awesome, love what you are doing. I don't understand what happens to your investment after a larger company merges or acquires the startup. Thank you for the info.
Great question! It depends on the terms of the acquisition.. Sometimes your investment position just converts into stock in the acquiring company or it's a cash payout. It could be a combination of both!
Great value in this video. I just have 1 question, when looking at 'how should you invest in startups' where do you get those information from and if it's from the company itself, would they give you that information when they don't know who you are even though your looking to invest
Fantastic question! Companies that are raising money online will have 2-3 tings (at a minimum available) including: 1) A pitch deck that overviews the business, 2) If they're doing Regulation Crowdfunding, you can see their Form C filed, 3) A one-pager/website that lists the following: Problem they're solving, solution, market sizing, finances, team, competition.
Great question! Yes, most nationalities can invest in US based companies on Wefunder and other platforms. For my own company, we have investors from 36 countries. There are a few restrictions, but a majority of countries are allowed!
Quick question. If I invest in a company 100$ and the shares are valued at .46 cents . If it goes public and get bought out will my share price go up? Do I have to sell my shares and are they gonna pay me the value .46 cents per share when I first bought it or different?
Great question! Most likely you won't have control over this outcome. If the company is acquired for cash post investment, then depending on the terms of the deal, you could be paid out in cash. This would be considered a capital gain (tax-wise) if the acquisition price was higher than the investment. In your example, if the acquisition price was $1/share and you invested at $0.46/share, then your appreciation is the difference ($0.54/share) and that appreciation what you would be taxed on. In that example, you would get the $1/share as a payout. In the case of an IPO, most likely, the share will simply convert to the public market and you would not be forced to sell. This is simplified, but hopefully it gives an idea how it could work.
Hi, I have 0 idea on how to start investing but I want to start small and willing to learn the basics. Is it worth to start investing the minimum amount (like $100 or $300)? And how about taxes?
Yes, you should absolutely start investing as soon as possible even with $100. I would NOT think it’s a good idea to invest in private startup companies to get started. Instead take a look at S&P 500 index funds and building a consistent strategy for the long-term. I recommend Graham Stephan’s channel on UA-cam to get a beginners overview of investing in general.
If i invest in a startup and lets say I get 10% equity do I have to give up some of that equity when the startup is rasing funds again or do I keep the 10%?
Great question! You are correct, if and when the startup raises more funding, most of the time the overall pie of shares gets bigger and initial shareholders are diluted. This is where Pro Rata Rights come in. This gives the investor the right to maintain their ownership position in future rounds by continuing to invest at the terms of the new funding round. This normally is only granted to major investors who are contributing a relatively large investment and/or have the ability to continue to invest much more capital in the future.
Plants free of water deficit events more efficiently absorb available plant nutrients enabling plants to achieve their maximum genetic potential. SWRT membranes installed below plant rootsystems retain water where it falls, providing continuous delivery of drought-free periods up to 3 times longer than intensely irrigated control sands without root zone water retention membranes (Guber et al, 2016).
This is a great question! I recommend starting by researching startups that are raising funds on the biggest platforms: Wefunder, Republic, StartEngine!
