Can you imagine being one of the first investors in Google, Facebook, Amazon, or Microsoft?! 🤯
According to Jeff Bezos, the Founder and CEO of Amazon, the first 20 or so outside investors put in around $50,000 apiece for a stake of a little less than 1% of the company at the time. If those early investors had held on to their entire stakes, and those stakes had never been diluted by later investors, they would be $3.5 billion today - a return of 70,000x!

    **What is an Angel Investor?**
An individual who provides capital to an early stage company, usually the first outside investment to support the entrepreneur grow their business. This investment decision can be fueled by one of three main ways:
    1) To support the entrepreneur
    2) Solve the problem the business is solving
    3) Make a financial return.
Ideally all three of these come into play when making an angel investment.

Whose share are you buying by this investment?
The 3 founders divided the total shares equally but actually who is selling, one of them or all equally?
And what is the total percentage of the company sold by this raising?
Great video, please keep us the great work!

Hey! Great question!! In a business, there are total "shares outstanding" allocated to the founders, team, and existing investors, and then there's the total "Authorized shares" referring to the largest number of shares that a single business can issue. The total authorized shares is always larger than the amount outstanding issued to team members and investors. When a company raises a priced round of financing, most of the time, the founders aren't actually selling their shares, rather it's coming out of the authorized pool that hasn't been sold. This dilutes the founders because they have the same number of shares but the total outstanding is larger because of the new shares sold to the investor out of the authorized pool.

Good question! Most of these online platforms have a dashboard where you can see your investments. You can also maintain your own spreadsheet if you're investing across multiple startups. This is what I do and what I share in the Startup Investor Academy: www.startupinvestoracademy.com/?

It'd be really cool to have a video where you retroactively simulate small-check investments in big companies. "Here's what wouldve happened if you invested $ XX in Apple/Facebook/etc. in 20XX"

@@fksebati might be a bit tricky factoring in dilution, etc. but I feel that makes it even more insightful
