  • Simca❗👉 (acronym for Société Industrielle de Mecanique et de Carosserie Automobile: Industrial Society of Automobile Mechanics and Bodywork) 👈👉 was a French automobile manufacturer that developed its activity between 1935 and the 1980s.
Founded by the Italian 👉Henri Téodore Pigozzi in 1934👈 to distribute and assemble Fiat cars in France🤝, after overcoming the Second World War period, the company experienced a period of great expansion between 1950 and 1970🙌, absorbing Ford France🌟.
Chrysler Corporation❗ became a shareholder in 1958👈, becoming a majority shareholder five years later. However, the 1973 oil crisis would trigger a rapid decline of the company, which was 👉sold to Peugeot in 1978👈. After being renamed 👉Talbot, it ceased its own production in 1986, becoming part of the Groupe PSA heritage.
Henri Téodore Pigozzi was dedicated to exporting steel from France to Italy💰, counting among his clients the Fiat car factory in Turin🙌. His employer, Giovanni Agnelli, was looking for a representative to introduce his cars in France, and he saw the right person in him👌. Pigozzi acquired the factory of the former manufacturer Donnet-Zédel in Nanterre, and founded the company on November 2, 1934👈.
Initially, it assembled models under license from Fiat, cars for everyone between the years 1930 and '50 (among them the Topolino, the Simca 5 presented in 1936, the Simca 8 of 1937, and in 1947 the Simca 6).
Simca promotes the 950 project. Fiat, for its part, initiates two parallel projects, 119 and 122. The first started from the adaptation of the Fiat 1100 engine, to reduce it to 1000 cm³ -in tune with Simca's idea and more to Giacosa's liking- and the second was an evolution of the 600, enlarging its body and engine. Presented in 👉1961, it was produced until 1978👈.
In Spain, Barreiros🙌, a national manufacturer of industrial vehicles, created a joint venture with the North American multinational Chrysler🤝. The new company, Barreiros Chrysler🌟, agreed to manufacture two models at the Villaverde🤝 factory; on the one hand, the Dodge Dart, and on the other hand, the Simca 1000.
At the end of 👉1965, the Simca 1000👈 was launched in Spain.
Sports variant 🏆💪. In 1970, Chrysler decided to exploit the sporting potential of the 1000 - between 1964 and 1966, Abarth had already produced sports versions. In Spain, the 1000 GT🌟 is launched, which serves as the basis for the Desafío Simca single-brand championship. Said model appears with a 1204 cm³ engine that yields 61 CV💪.
One year later, an improved version is launched, the 1000 GT Rally👌, whose power and torque increase respectively to 74 CV at 6000 rpm and 10.2 mkg at 4200 rpm💪🌟.
The collaboration with Abarth 🔥. Pigozzi contacted the Italian preparer and they quickly agreed 🤝. In 1961 they signed an agreement to build a coupe on the 1000 platform and a sports version of the saloon.
The development of the coupe was rapid. Four months after the appearance of the Simca 1000 in Paris, the Abarth Simca Coupe 1300 GT🌟 was presented at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show.
The modifications in the saloon demanded more time. In October 1963, two years after the agreement was signed, Abarth presented four enhanced Simca 1000 models at the Turin Motor Show🙌. All of them had a 1137 cm³ engine derived from the one that drove the series model, which had increased the displacement.
The pearl in sports of the Simca brand, more than seventy years ago, in his European journey, a certain Juan Manuel Fangio 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 ran at the controls of a "Simca / Gordini".
