    Thats called a castle nut, and yes, theyre for cotter pins. Never reuse a cotter pin!! And invest in a pickle fork. They're $10 and very handy

    Great video thanks. I used the tie rod separator my dad gave me for the first time in 20 years. So I didn't need to whack mine for as long as you did 😂

    Your power steering issue is in the rag joint (joint that connects the rack to the steering column). This is why your power steering seems to go in and out. When the joint pivots in a rough spot it requires more pressure than the system can provide. So you muscle it through the rough spot to a smooth spot and it seems like power steering is working again when it never really went out in the first place. It’s also normal to see minimal leaking from the pinion seals (fluid you’re seeing in the rubber bellows) on a rack with some miles on her. Definitely doesn’t mean it’s ready for replacement yet.

    Great vid. I'm surprised your tie-rods are in such good shape for having never been replaced. Mine are so shot. Going to be replacing them soon hopefully.

    I’ve been trying to take my tie rods off my 2012 subaru wrx since last night been putting a spray to lube it up and hitting it on all sides still no budge almost feel like giving up
