- As a little boy caught in the crossfire of violence, drugs and chaos in one of Kansas City’s most dangerous neighborhoods, Aaron Yates has had a long road to stardom.
We now know him as Tech N9ne - the most successful independent rap artist in the world.
For Tech, Kansas City is part of his very core. It has helped to shape who he is today.
“This is where I’m most comfortable - Kansas City,” he said. “When I’m gone for a long time on tour or whatever, I get back and it’s -- Aww man, it feels good to see the skyline coming from the airport.”
His music label, Strange Music, is located right here in the Kansas City area, and it’s where he still lives today.

I loved this documentary. I've met a few members, signed to Strange, Like Krizz, JL, Rittz, but I have yet to meet Tech. Simply cuz I can't afford the meet and greets. lol, But Its on my bucket list tho. Tech N9nes shows are the best. Shout out to the #Techn9cians

I met him way back it was early 2000s he was opening up for another artist and just chilling in his bus after the show hanging at the window chopping it up with fans and shit before the meet and greets and shit back when hardly anyone knew him outside the midwest prob etc. Anyway he was a real humble dude and cool as fuck .

Amazing interview
Ive binge listened to every Tech N9ne studio album recently and my two absolute favorites are Everready and my all time favorite, AngHellic. Enterfear had some awesome choppers on it too.

I have seen tech so many times so many different venues and got to talk to him in Joplin Mo when Angehlic was huge he was sitting on stage rapping this ring pouring sweat you could tell he was giving it his all when Absolute Power dropped I seen him at the Rockwell he was so polite signed autographs took pictures a very intelligent and humble man

I first discovered N9ne way way back in the day, mid 2000s when I found an old Creative Mp3 player on the sidewalk one day and it was loaded with a few Tech songs. From there I was hooked.

Beautiful documentary
Ive admired this artist since my ex introduced his music to me in 2007. I feel as close to my now dead parents as he was to his mother. He might find comfort that the spirit realm does INDEED exist because Ive had a lot of experiences with it. My dad's spirit said goodbye to me the morning after he died. I also had some dreams about him and my mom . In one he said he was waiting for his new body. I love Aaron's fun music too. He's really experienced the full spectrum of life.
I used to hear his name all the time but i had never heard any of his music until my boyfriend was listening to him like 15 years ago and i was hooked . I dont and wont listen to anything else besides a very few other artists like snoop dr.dre anyone with strange music . Hopsin and rittz . I dont even listen to the radio anymore. Before i die i need to see him in concert frfr.

Tech n9ne was responsible for some of my most fun moment's while growing up as a teen. I'll never forget seeing skatterman and snugbrim open for him I believe for the killer album. That was so sick. Sheesh.. Almost makes me tear up knowing its over

Many great artist wrote amazing music while on drugs. Theyre even greater once they stop. Tech has finally claimed the fame he deserved from when he started in the underground.
The cover of Anghellic is what made me listen to Tech for the first time. Him crucified as an angel with arms from hell trying to drag him down . I thought to myself this shit looks different as fuck I gotta check it out . That was back in 2000 then absolute power right after . He still pushing and creating dope music dudes a legend hands down def made his impact in hip hop dude has worked with almost everybody lol.
Tech is one of the top 5 rappers of all time. He's number one in style of rap. 2pac for pure content and style. Emenem for his speed and overall style. Lil Wayne for his play on words. Dana dane for storytelling. I can't just label one rapper as the best over others. Each have a unique ability. One of the most influential rap groups public enemy. Chuck d for his authority and message. There are some new rappers that are super talented in still thinking of a label to give him. But he's def someone with a unique ability. Easy mac

And it was a FREAKIN TIME KC caught onto who tech is and where he's from. I got back to KC, Topeka, Lawrence and Manhattan a lot and as of the time gates mixed plate was out I couldn't find ONE person who knew who tech was. Not anyone in my family that likes hip hop, nobody at the club's I went to (and I go to pretty hip hop oriented clubs), I ended up hangin out with this group of black dudes who didn't know, stores I went into had no tech n9ne anything. Even over in the ghetto by West Baptist I was playin tech and everyone was looking at me like "wtf kinda rap is that?" So it's about damn time Kansas and Missouri caught on. And those places I go are techs stomping grounds even. Lol
