"We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing."
Gotta love the way you feel reliving your childhood, a grin so wide it’s painful that lasts for a few days, aches and pains that remind you of your age but you still grin knowing that you loved every second of it, and the memories that keep making you smile every time.
I love these random unhinged Diresta videos every now an then.
What an amazing surprise this was! Great video as always Jimmy and glad to see the foam came in handy 💪
It’s a trip seeing you in the Shadow Foam Tee at the start too! Would you fancy a tool hunt next time I’m in the states? 🇺🇸 ❤
Yes!! Sorry I missed you guys in May ! Maybe next spring 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nothing is cooler than seeing a grown man smile like a 15 year old kid on a gokart! The 13th is gonna be awesome!
I have great memories of ripping around my neighbor’s yard in a dingo. The thing vibrated so much that it would shear bolts all the time. One of the great things about it is the solid live axle.
look at this old child how happy he is with his kart...I love it Jimmy boy
Next mod could be a mower deck slung underneath and you can mow the lawns while having fun. Now that's multi-tasking!! Have fun! We had a kart many years ago and used to rip around a vacant block behind MiL's house, so I know how much fun you are having.
Well...there goes the neighborhood :). Jimmy makes every 12 year old's dreams a reality.
now we need a diresta dirt track, hope to see you sat
I had one in the 80's, and man so I miss it to this day!
Your buddy is going to want that cart back now. (giggle)
I could say “I wanna be like Jimmy when I grow up,” - the problem with that is that Jimmy never grew up 😂
Jimmy boy reliving his youth. Love it!
I assembled so many of these back in the 90's at a lawn and garden shop I worked at in Terre Haute IN. They even made a two seater version that IMHO was the birth of side by side off-road.
New farm toy! I can already see a tow hitch being attached to the back of that thing!
Feel like what this little monster needs extra to really finish it up is some flood lights on top and a small cow-catcher bumper on the front. Love it, cute little beast it is and seeing the ear-to-ear smile on your face tells me it must be really fun to zoop around in.
You just miss the opportunity to call it The Direskart
And great job (of course !!)
The push sticks reminded me of the articulated ones you made as props for Spike .
Jimmy is the Godfather of Cool. 'Nuf said !
Boys will be boys. I went waterskiing last month for the first time in 30 years. I wore a huge stupid grin all day and had a sore everything for the next two weeks. Worth it.
Reminds me of jumping on a trampoline with my daughters and laughing my ass off like a little kid. Forgot how fun it was. Good job jimmy.
That's sweet! Great job! See how you hold the steering wheel mainly on the top, you could chop the bottom half off...
My Dad tore apart my little sisters swing set and welded me up a go kart. it took her years to forgive me...that's 65 years ago.
Great transformation! Thanks for planning the steering wheel oopsy for our entertainment.😉 Seriously, happy you were not injured.
This is what enjoying life should be like. well done. I wish I were this talented. Please use this tool constantly for everyone who likes this video as much as I do.
I love the way the music speeds up during the time lapses! :D Makes the whole thing seem so manic and urgent!!!!
Such an impressive transformation: Agile, speed machine in red, so delightfully inspiring to watch the build & drive. Thank you for sharing!
As a 53 year old man with a go-cart of his own I can say that I totally recognize that $h!7 eating grin on Jimmy's face! Who know going 25MPH could be so fun!?
The funniest video I’ve seen in a very long time. Nearly pissed my pants. The steering wheel and the overhead burnouts. Please stop.😂
Wow, a Tecumseh motor... Haven't seen one of those in ages. They used to make them here in my town. 😂
If I had a huge garden and a few grand to spend, I'd do the same thing Jimmy 😂
I love it. It should have a big antenna dangling on the back.
With a Diresta flag.
Always keep a pair of Vice Grips handy in case the steering wheel falls off! Cool build , the colors are spot on. Be Safe!
Love to see you having so much fun Jimmy !!! Wuuuujuuuuuu!!! Love and respect from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷!!! 🤙🏼🤘🏼🌴🌊🏎️🏎️🏎️💨💨💨
Looks like you had a blast filming the last couple mins of this one.
I can see a market for custom-fabricated steering wheels! Great job and you didn't die having all that fun.
Awesome restoration! I love the leather wrapped steering wheel. That was a nice touch. Looks like a blast to drive.
Rode a dingo when I was around 12. There was also an Excalibur that had a serious cage and four-point harness. Both scared the hell out of me but I guess that’s because the huge yard and gravel road became so much smaller when you’re going full speed. I preferred dirt bike for going between trees and jumps.
So many great and refined tips, the race track is going to have the best collection of go-karts ever!
2:10 Now there's one happy person! A picture of pure joy :)
It's like Bowser from Mariokart 😆 Also, don't underestimate superglue, I "fixed" a deep slice in my car tyre that'd gone through to the inner fibres using some (it was Thursday, I noticed the damage when I got home, it needed to survive until the weekend when I could get it replaced, modern cars here don't have spare wheels any more). Both me and the tyre repair guy were surprised it worked. I didn't tell him I'd done 300 miles of motorway driving on it though...
I need a lawnmower that can go Diresta go-cart fast. Don't lose that wheel Jimmy D.
When you said Dingo....I thought of one of those small earth moving Dingos.....A find go cart that would be!
I've been thinking that an overhead bridge crane would be a helpful addition to the new shop. And potentially a really cool project as well.
I'm glad to see you're having fun, Jimmy! Even though pulling the rope was a workout. LOL!
Jimmy is so inspirational, but the fact that he didn’t strip the old paint off the frame or even clean it off with soapy water before hand painting it red, is driving my OCD off the charts 😩😳😁
Jimmy I sure wish you’d have fun with your projects once in awhile! 😉 This was really fun to watch!
Thats awesome, I'm sitting here taking a break from fixing my go-kart after a major crash....love it!
Love to see you guys keeping this annual go kart event going.
Great format. Feels like OG Diresta from 12-15 years ago!
And now I'm imagining him dragging that cart up a set of stairs out of his basement shop and racing around the streets in it. Made with a bunch of tools painted white, and his logo spray painted on the back of the seat of course...
Absolutely great video Jimmy love to see you smiling like a little kid with his new go kart on Christmas morning. . Thanks for sharing
I think, Colin Furze has something he could race you with😂,NICE rebuild
Jimmy! Awesome video! Looks like you rediscovered your inner 12 year old with the sheer amount of joyous fun you were having.
From Jimmy to Jimmy, as Always Truly Inspiring, with everything you do
The joy I saw when you were driving is infectious. I hope you film the go kart event as that would be a great part 2 of the go kart. Do you still have your go kart track Jimmy?
I love the Kaizen foam for the seats. You should cut some little storage pockets in there for banana peels to throw at the other racers.
Thanks! The bit at the end with you just tearing around, got me laughing, so hard and so long throughout the whole thing. Yeah, it works.
Damn, that thing rips! All you need now is a cup holder and a big horn on it.
Now that's a lot of fun for sure ! Great video Jimmy
Looked like you had more fun "test" driving the kart than anything you've done in recent memory! Wish could get up to the track and see it on the 13th. Have fun, Jim!
Amazing transformation, looked like you were having a blast.
The steering wheel is the only part you have to change: both in design of the wheel (too rectangular in the section, it must be very uncomfortable), and the position and dimension of the spokes: you are forced to drive with the hand in the wrong position. For the rest as usual a fantastic project!🎉
Love the custom steering wheel!
You are having entirely too much fun and I’m jealous 😅
I think you need to extend the steering column, and lower the steering wheel, so you can lean back against the seat while driving it.
Amazing go kart rebuild Jimmy! Those driving scenes were just nuts! Well done! 👍👍
“I checked on the Internet. It’s okay”
My laughter scared the dogs 😂😂😂
You deserve every minute of your life... well done, Sir. Well done.
Gravel, grass and asphalt on the same track? That could be a Mario Kart circuit right there 😅😅😅
Hi Jimmy. What a cool build! Really neat steering wheel design, even if it did need a little tweaking, during the Qualys Assurance phase. I was hoping you would be putting on another get together at your racetrack after the teaser last week. That one looked like a blast. I remember Mustie came down for it and someone (I don't recall who) had a cart with a motorcycle engine that went like 100MPH. Nice that you have that track. I think a public track might limit the festivities and frown on some of the activities! Looking forward to seeing your cart in action.
Man you're out there living your best life
I feel like you just woke up and thought "I want a steering wheel that says my name" -- and this is where it landed. lol.
I would suggest inner steel pipe liners for the frame extensions. I believe this is a rule in formula sae racing as the organization pinpointed unbacked butt welds to cause frame failures. Without liners I would also suggest to normalize the welds to remove stress and potential weak spots.
There's an outdoor go-kart track up the road from me, I definitely have to go now. Hopefully my fat ass will fit into one. Nice build brother.
Jimmy, you NEED to invite Colin Furze to the go kart races.
Nuthin better than ripping around on a go kart or little dirt bike 😊
Awesome mod! That’s got some power to spin those wheels. I’ve been wanting to attend since the first one so definitely got to put this event on the calendar for next year. Thanks for all the riding footage at the end. Always great to see the payoff.
Nice work💪🏼 I have a custom intake and filter if you want it? Maybe trade for an ice pick. If you change the exhaust to a custom pipe with a muffler it’ll almost double the HP’s
16:08 - An amazing moment🤣
Reminds me of the movie Snatch. Helmet down, welder on.
Sigue así haciendo lo que te apetezca . Keep doing what you want.
nice work, would love that amount of space, id be making crazy stuff!
Looks great! Straightforward fun “restoration”
This heals my inner child. My mom never let me ride one of these. Super jealous 😂
hahaha he party so hard the steering wheel broke XD and laugh like not sorry, awsome!
Now you need a video where your scoop all your gravel BACK into your drive.
Well, didn't you have a great time!!! 😂😂
Never had a go-cart when I was a kid. I should be doing this! And when you race Jimmy, put a good helmet on.
I'm 70 and I still love go karts!
Jimmy understood the assignment. It was all about the donuts…
The amount of content we have have recently is fantastic, and I just want to let you know I appreciate it.
thank you!
I haven't driven a go-cart in a looong time, I want one again after watching this :D
That looked like so much fun.
Great build as ever Mr D, the 'A' Team sound track would probably be better!! ❤
Cool! I've seen those speed changing pulley assemblies for cheap online. It would be cool to retrofit one on a drill press or mill.
Big bear Mike is a good guy. 2:12 your face lol 3:35 nice audio nice sound effects 15:35 great build had a little of everything. Fun edit too. Looks good with the 360 cam too.
This was so fun to watch!
It would be pretty cool if you could get custom tread made on the tires to say diresta, to leave your name in the dirt lol
No matter how old we get, we never grow up Jimmy!
too we can't all have as much fun as that lol
