The era Kung repeats itself by the German bishops on the stance for blessings of homosexual couples by his holiness.
The question to be answered will be to ex communicate all those blessings giving priests and up to cardinals by the living and totally infallible Pope Francis,who is giving all empathy he can to the homosexuals.
I'm catholic but was never an admirer of hans kung but still, may he rest in peace.

We can not know a man's heart without God's intervention and we do not know if he repented at death. You are speaking words fueled by ideology and hatred, not Christ. And your words are gravely against both justice and mercy. And we are all wicked, all of us deserve Hell, so to desire it for another is hypocrisy unless we desire it for all. The Sacred Scripture also says "a contrite heart You will not spurn". God does not desire we be in Hell, if He did He would not have sent His Only Son to die upon the Cross for our sins. Thus to desire a man's soul should rest in peace ought to be our default position unless we have infallible knowledge to the contrary and very few have that sort of insight, certainly I do not.
And 841 of the Catechism states:
841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330
The Catechism does not support your accusation of heresy. Muslims do not understand the Most Holy Trinity, the Divinity of Our Blessed Lord or that God is our Heavenly Father. They are not baptized, but they do worship the God of Abraham, the God of the Jewish people even if in a very distorted manner. They do not correctly know Him, but they do worship the same God. We must bring them to the truth and show them the truth of the Gospel because they do not realize Christ's true identity!

Unless you know by divine intervention you can not know if he truly did not repent. We are bound to pray for the dead, refusing to do so is an offense against charity as it is one of the spiritual works of mercy. And God's Justice and His Mercy are One in His Divine Simplicity. If you divide them you can understand neither.

Five years is long enough for someone to be assigned to the Vatican. Someone needs to be a human resource Manager. I have worked long in the Church over the years and if there is one thing you learn very quickly is that all Bishops tend to obfuscate when answering questions where general or directly referring to Church business. I hope Archbishop Ganswein is not sent into the wastelands. He is still young and has a lot more to contribute to Holy Mother Church.

Well John, as a church historian, I can tell you that yes Benedict is as a person a very nice and sweet guy but as the head ot the CDF he was a fierce persecutor of progressive theologians and priests like Kung. And the juridical procedure was very unfair, they were not allowed to take a lawyer with them. it was you against the whole CDF machine. So when you only talk about his sweet nature is covering up this fierce side of him.
Yes I've heard this elsewhere. Pope Francis is also engaged in a pogrom, in his case against something he said he did not understand in 2014, why youth are very drawn to the ancient rite. He either made no effort to understand it or knows exactly why and decided to try and erase the ancient rite.
He has become a full on extremist.

Can you check again about the Alfa Romeo of Küng? He answered this criticism in one of his memoirs. I think it was a BMW which he needed to navigate safely between Tübingen and his hometown in Switzerland. These myths develop when no other arguments exist to counter a strong mind like Küng. Schillebeeckx had to endure the same. Few commentators admit that he is one of the few theologians who talked not only to the catholic audience, but reached out to those outside the church addressing their ethical problems and questions about faith. The end of your comment about Küng makes up for what is a superficial evaluation by certain circles which is amplified in the conservative wing of the church, throwing away everything this great man questioned in all honesty, out of love for the church. Their negative attitude says more about themselves than about Küng. As you said correctly: he is the person who is behind the most important documents of Vatiican II, and these views remain.
Hans Kung challenged the infallibility of the pope.
And manifold other heresies. He wasn't even a good Lutheran. Rather, a Unitarian. Pathetic waste of a priest.
And he was right because no human person is infallible. Only God is worthy of trust.
Still, the Vicar of Christ has that authority to appoint Bishops as given by Christ. No need to reform that.

Hans Kung was never the intellectual leader of a certain interpretation of VatII. No doubt he was the #1 popularizer of that interpretation. The intellectual leader was Karl Rahner.
Kung was a lightweight, Rahner was not. Both were very influential in producing the contemporary Ecclesiastical ruins on which we live

As far as misunderstood because he is an intellectual, a luminary that writes with his love for Jesus that can be seen in all the books he wrote. You cannot write about Jesus like this if you haven't experienced a deep love.

Heretic mean a person who differs in point of view from established religious dogma. So you mean that we should believe and agree with every doctrine without asking any question? That is why I love Küng, he was not afraid of theological dispute and discussion.

A real lesson in contrasts. Hans Kung: Flamboyant man wearing expensive cologne, and tailored suits, driving Alfa Romeo vs. Ratzinger: Egghead puttering around on bicycle wearing professor’s beret.
When ratzinger was in.munich he drove around in a bmw series3. It was probably donated by his parishoners. A catholic mentioned this to me and remarked - not slumming it. Not bad for the german prelates. The german catholics pay their tithes and r very generous. Despite this Ratzinger was a very smart theologian, deeply devout and a gift from God. His debating colleague Hans Kung should have been made a cardinal for the many inspiring books he wrote and the many people who converted to the faith because of him. In his book- in search of freedom he comes across as highly honest like his colleague.Ratzinger. Kung was influenced by his doctoral work on the justification of faith in Paris and influenced by many of the reformation theologians.

Hans Kung has been my greatest spiritual teacher. I pray thanks to him, but he is ok. I am 58, studied philosophy, and, theology, since 14. Ended up in VEDANTA. Where we go, in the end. NO DOUBT

Why do Catholics not allow believers to receive both elements in the Eucharist as Jesus gave to His disciples?
First of all, the last supper was the ordination of the first bishops of the Church. The body, blood, soul, and divinity is present under both species of the Eucharist, and the Church is not obliged to offer both species to the laity because of the true presence in either. I'm sure there are others who are better versed who may explain it better, but that's it in a nutshell.
We do. For the last quarter century. Go to Mass sometime. Now, the Precious blood is reserved because of the pandemic.

I have received both elements, but only at small Masses where there are not many people. I think it's a practical matter. The Eucharist host alone does suffice.
Sounds like a good argument for women priest are needed to change the culture! Put that on the agenda for a discussion on “The Theology of Priesthood” as well as “optional celibacy” as per other non-Roman Catholic rites.

@@2Uahoj Yes preferrably it is private, but this is a public statement and this as private as I am able to reach them since I do not know them. If speculation on the dark parts of a person's private life is false or unknown it is a calumny, if it is true without good reason to reveal it, it is detraction. That is primarily why I spoke out. That and to challenge the types of things that spring from those and are pitting Catholics against their brothers and sisters. Consider the Gospel of John 17, this is a major reason I call out as I do.
I know that can be over done and that is something I am wary of, honestly. And of course there is always the chance that my motives can be corrupted and it is good for me to examine them, so I will take a step away for a time since perhaps I need deeper reflection. I have for reasons beyond my control been unable to receive our Blessed Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist in a few weeks and I would not be surprised if my judgement is lacling.

Hans Kung an "original" thinker?? Well, maybe about the same as Mani or Arius. Why in the world would Allen - supposedly a Catholic - imply that he will be missed? By whom? Maybe by his family, but certainly not by those who try to follow Jesus Christ in his Church. No wonder the Knights of Columbus withdrew their financial support from Crux Now.

If Benedict XVI is misunderstood it's largely his own fault and the fault of his longtime secretary. The thing is, I think his fans misunderstand him more than those of us who are not as enthusiastic about his papacy and his time in power. He is an academic theologian who doesn't have the first clue as to how to communicate with anyone who isn't an academic theologian.

Apparently last year one of the conservatives who are using him, Cardinal Sarah misunderstood him in a rather serious and dramatically bad way because he had to ask that his name be taken off of Sarah's attack on Pope Francis. The greatest thing he did in the papacy was to resign from it.
