This Pope is a disaster....he clearly doesn’t pray enough, because if he did, he just couldn’t be this bad...and then he doesn’t have enough people praying for him either, because the world & the Catholics in the world have gone so bad. Just know how to be a good Catholic yourself, help others to know what the true Catholic Faith is and how to live it, and wait for the storms to pass, which we’ll simply have to ride out, but both he and the current Holy See / Vatican are a shambles. God speed the resurrection of the Catholic Church.

I do not wish to be argumentative AT ALL, but I don't find a problem with what the Pope said about the Torah. Our Jewish brothers and sisters construe their faith according to a mandate different from that of Christians. To our Jewish friends, the Torah provides the full articulation of personal faith, while to Christians, the Torah is fulfilled in its intent in the person of Jesus. Or am I wrong in my assessments of these two faith traditions? If I am right, I don't see a problem with what the Pope said, and I don't see why our brothers and sisters in Judaism should be surprised or find his words offensive.

@@JH-nk4pb Francis did not say that. Read the actual quote. Francis has said things that may not be prudent, but the critics are constantly attacking him by putting words in his mouth. That is what Protestants do.
I have heard that the Talmud is even higher than the Torah. If he'd said anything about the Babylonian Talmud, there may have been an even sharper response from the Jewish community.

They by definition aren’t because they explicitly reject Christ. The only way they could be is out of true ignorance, perhaps there’s a possibility of them being brought into the Church around the time of death.

Pope Francis was right about what he said about Judaism though. Must speak the truth about Christianity and what we believe, not sugarcoat it. A reconciliation with the Jews is not really possible if they don't know what we believe, that the new covenant is the valid one and the old one is no longer valid. That is the point of Christianity the new covenant. If we act as though their belief is valid they will say to themselves "why should we be Christian" and then they will never accept Christ. The Jewish leaders who were trying to protest against what Pope Francis said probably realized that his words had the potential to wreck havoc in the Jewish community, with Jews potentially coming to Christ. We love our Jewish friends but Jesus said if you are not with me you are against me and that applies here. It's harsh but true.
