- Ep#15 of Forts of India: Agra Fort in Uttar Pradesh was built in the year 1573 under the reign of Akbar - one of the greatest Mughal Emperors. It took more than 4000 workers and eight years of hardship to complete the fort. Knowing the significance of its location, Akbar built the fort to make it the main residence of the Mughals.

These types of large impregnable & magnificent forts might have been built mostly with slave labour because of prohibitive cost involved then.Sometimes I use to wonder as what would have been the standard of living of common people among the pomp & splendour of aristocracy on one side & frequent wars between neighbouring kingdoms.
Wow - that was a phenomenal documentary. Not too long, but just enough information to give us details we can remember about the fort. To have lived in those times and to have lived as a Mughal emperor - one can only imagine how heavenly it must have been. Thank you for posting this!

Agra fort was not built by mughals. It was already built by rajputs.. Mughals enhanced it . and used red sandstone
