Sir, I don’t think you realize how much anger and frustration you have just saved me. I just bought a used axis in 30-06. Just lubed up the bolt and noticed that is does that as well when doing so. Returned it to the original way it was placed and had these issues. Watched the video, sure enough that was the problem. I thought I just wasted about 2.25 Benjamin’s on this.
Hahahaha you sir deserve youtube video of the year. I've had this problem with my gun the last few seasons. I figured it was the mag myself. Never did I think it would be something like that. Thank you. Luckily I only needed 1 shot for my deer this season. But it's fixed now.
I was literally about to sell this gun tomorrow. It's been months I've had this issue I must have flipped it around after cleaning without realizing. Thank you so much for this you saved me a ton of headache
I have had a savage axis since I was 12 years old. I am now 24 years old. I have had this issue for half of the time I have been alive on earth. Thanks to your video my gun now cycles properly. Thank you so much for figuring that out.
I had the same problem with my 30-06. I also broke my magazine tab. Savage sent me a new one for free, but they couldn't figure out what you did. You are the man now dog!
Unbelievable it happened to me. I always take my bolt out when I store it. Somehow it turned. It was driving me crazy. Love the gun but almost done with it after one day at the range. Never had a problem with it before. 🤦♂️ Thank you sir greatly appreciate!!
Thank you for this video. I started bending the mag to lol. I actually got one of the “desh” lift kits for the bolt and it kinda helped make it smoother. But I actually thought that was the problem and broke the bearing trying to figure it out. So I’m back with the stock washer in the bolt, but wow what an easy fix. Thanks
This problem was driving me crazy, thinking it was going to cost me lots of money to fix it.. Thanks for this video.. now I'm ready for hunting season around the corner.. I like your bible verse.
OMG. You are a F’n stud. I’m not even kidding. Everything you talked about is exactly what I did. I totally thought it was the magazine. To be honest, I thought you were full of shit so I went to try to right now you have no idea. I have literally been losing sleep over this fucking problem. Honestly if you lived in the same city as me I would literally be coming to your house right now to drop off a case of beer. You just added 10 years to my life lol thanks so much man
man really really thank you so much! i had the same problem, and you fix it! last night i shot a deer and when recharge got this problem, thanks and greetins from argentina!
Omg just like the many others , thank you I had just got a new magazine and thought it was that. I did the lift kit and extended handle so I must have twisted it . Thanks again
Had this happen on my old Savage 116 European Classic 30-06 back in 2005. I think that piece is an exploded case pressure redirector or something like that, part of the safety protection system. I didn't break my mag because I had a friend who had experienced the issue and told me if it ever wouldn't pick up a round to check that first.
It’s intentional, they use the same bolt for every gun, the only difference between long and short action is that the lug is flipped around from the factory. They should have atleast specified that in the manual though.
I have a 110 and that part that turns has like a little lip on one side that prevents you from turning it the other way, funny enough i turned it 360 and somehow i actually did cycle like 20 rounds in a row with no issues lol.. maybe it got fixed maybe i got lucky haha
"Savage axis actions are all one length, these can be short OR long action by simply rotating the lug on the axis bolt body." FYI... Did some googling.

Haha I'm glad I could help! I'm sure you felt the same as I did when I figured it out. I was upset it was that simple, yet glad at the same time.

Skip to 3:20 when dude actually discusses the fix… Bro… thanks…
Had the same issue with my 350 Legend. I was getting ready to get rid of it. Glad I saw this. I can't believe that worked.
One of my favorite scripture verses. Thanks!
Thank you same problem. Straight to the point.
Yeaaaa thank you sir my savage axis problem is solved thanks to you.😅I would never have used it again to hunt with the feeding problem unsolved.
I bought a axis used and it had the same problem. I need a new mag I broke the metal lip also. Thanks for making this video you!
man really really thank you so much! i had the same problem, and you fix it!
last night i shot a deer and when recharge got this problem,
thanks and greetins from argentina!
Damn I’ve struggled with that for a while now. Almost didn’t get an elk down one time cuz of it. Stupid simple, thanks.
I’ll try this today but I noticed my magazine pops out slightly (side towards the shooter) after a shot or two and it created a loading issue for me
Also I have a Axis 2 if that makes a difference
I have never had that issue. But i will say, the mags are slightly on the cheap side. Have you tried a different mag?
Omg just like the many others , thank you I had just got a new magazine and thought it was that. I did the lift kit and extended handle so I must have twisted it . Thanks again
I just figured the same thing on mine 😂
Had put a bolt lift kit on it
Thanks!
had same problem with our 350 about ordered new mag, I will try this thanks!!!

Thanks for this video just fixed my savage axis. I must have turned it when I did the first cleaning when I first got it
Thanks for this. Mine has same problem new from factory and now I can fix it! Much appreciated
I wonder if this only applies to Long Action cartridges, as in my 6.5cm Savage it doesn't matter which way that lug is orientated
You are the best you fix my gun thank you for showing the video👍
Thank you it worked on my Axis 30/06!
Holy crap man, thank you
Thank you
Dude, I made basically the same video with the same rifle, but 2yrs before you 😂
Great video indeed but i need to play with mine to figure out in what position he rotated
I just tried it with my 270 and it’s still having the feed issues. I’m having savage send me a new mag.
Great information, thank you
Thanks for sharing this I just bought the same gun
Why would savage allow this to happen. This should have been addressed and fixed during R&D.
It’s intentional, they use the same bolt for every gun, the only difference between long and short action is that the lug is flipped around from the factory. They should have atleast specified that in the manual though.
You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been tolerating this shit for years haha.
This exact same shit happened to me recently and Ive been completely puzzled. Sure enough after watching that's what was wrong.
I’ve had this issue with a savage 110 hunter… wonder if it’s the same bolt problem?

No fucking way. No way man. Fuck. I’m going to go try it.
I have this problem with my Mossberg patriot in 350 legend, however mine loads halfway into the chamber and then it hangs up.
