  • I was replacing some of my queens to go into the season with new queens and decided not to pinch off the old queens but to put them in spare equipment and let them make resources I can use in other hives or even use excess bees in my mating nucs. It's working out great. Thanks for watching. #swarms #honeybees #howtodrawcomb #howtoraisebees #Howtomakenucs #howtomakeabeehive

Using the old queen for resources is a great idea. One I do not remember enough. Thanks for all the great information. Enjoyed the video. Take care.

They look great buddy. I don’t pinch the old queens either unless it is a mean hive. I have had to do that before. Great video buddy.

When you don't give them foundations the bees get creative, literally 😁

Looking good! I still have a few old queens that I use in similar fashion. I mainly have them as insurance since I know they aren't going to be good honey producers due to the lower populations. Typically I will move my old queens into 5 frame nucs or single 10 frame boxes and never really expand them much past that. Good video!

@@KajunHomestead There is enough thing a matter with using Lemon Grass oil. Better than Lemon grass oil. I would say at less 5 x better

Just get a bottle, some rubbing alcohol. Crush them up> Save them up in the bottle, with the lid tight on it ! For swarm lure. SHAKE IT UP >Take a Q tip dip it in the bottle and apply it around the entrance and some around top and bottom of the frames. YOUR SET do it once every week Next thing? BOOM YOU GOT A SWARM 🐝🐝The closer you can get to the bees lines zone. The quicker it will work! 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 This is area where bees travel Like a pipe lines, Telephone pole lines ect

Time enough for that when she turns into a drone layer or otherwise doesn't produce well enough any more, especially when she is being replaced just because of age.

@@apveening They usually ball the old queen or run her out. cripple queens to. But Bees like to throw curve balls. May keep her to. I think having 1 drone hive is good to have in the apiary> This keep the drone population down into the rest of the hives. Cause they have plenty of drones for the apiary to mate with. Plus the drone hive carries on year after year. produces honey and more bees as well. HOW DO I KNOW? Cause i have a drone hive. AND IT BEEN CARRING ON FOR 15 years Now. The rest of the hives? NEVER HAVE DRONE CELLS IN THEM

I'd be grafting off that Queen🤔I think many beekeepers over look Longevity as a trait to breed for she is a good Queen.
🤔She is in nice shape and still plump, good activity level and a real nice brood pattern. I'll bet she has another year in her easy,👍Give her a little smaller space to have to maintain in her "Regal Monarch" years.
🤔We need to work the Apiary as a complete unit not as just single entities. That's something I'm learning and putting into practice in how I think this season..
    Blessed Days...😁Brad Thanks for sharing.

You right , think I'm gonna keep her as long as she is not drone laying.

I want say don't graft! But i never had a need to graft. I go around picking out THOSE BIG FAT PEANUTS he hee put the in my can, cover them up, and place one in each nuc of bees that is queenless. Those little peanuts? The insides goes into my lure bottle
