Just sold my 2015 Spark. It was a manual with power windows and a/c. I had it for 3.5 years and put about 20,000 miles on it. Never had any issues with it. Changed the oil every 6K or so and it ran nice. Got a realistic 40 mpg overall with it. Needed a car with an automatic due to a chronic knee and hip condition. Other than that, I would have kept it. I got it from the original owner cheap and with just a little over 10,000 miles for $6000, and sold it for $5500. So in roughly 3 and 1/2 years, counting oil changes, it cost me $650-$700 bucks. Not bad.....

This is the ideal car for most commuters. Most of the cars you'll see see on your way to work, will only have one or two people in them.

By a long shot. The only thing I don't like about it is that silly rear parcel shelf you have to put down yourself, and the rear seats are fiddly to put down. By the way, in Australia the lowest model has power windows in the front, crank in the back and central remote locking. Also in Australia it is a 5 seater, although we've never even had 3 people in it!

I would'nt mind a manual but have the CVT. The CVT is great in city driving, and feels about the same as new at 40,000kms. I love that with the CVT, you take your foot off the gas and it brakes using the CVT. So you don't need to brake much. The warranty is 175,000kms, which is about how long I expect the CVT and car to last. I'm doing less than 10,000km per year so no worries for me!

I've had one of these for going on 3 years as of this Christmas. It's my first car. I honestly love it. Mine is an automatic, but I almost wish my mom would've bought me the stick, not that I have completely learned how to drive it yet. However, I think I could get the hang of it, which my mom never could. However, the automatic works fine, it's just sometimes it doesn't want to gear itself correctly when I hit the gas after slowing down. It works fine though. Mine has just over 15,000 miles on it. I have the base trim similarly to this. I love it. I honestly find it fun to drive and the hand crank windows and things are honestly fun for me.

I love the down to earth style, and real-life mess of a true working vehicle. I really want one of these, but only if it has a manual transmission. It's a crime that GM is cancelling it just when the mechanicals became more refined and competitive. Manual window and mirror controls are really appealing to me, as I know that these are things that are cheap and can be fixed by the owner.

Busch Builds I agree in that good maintenance will save most even when the owners manual states no trans services needed for 100k kind of thing but would go manual over the Spark CVT because I have read that particular CVT is a time bomb after 50-75k.
