Also, the law enforcement officer kept stepping into his personal space. When a man has authority and invades your space aggressively, it will cause nervousness. You have no normal recourse in that situation. The officer seemed to know this by his body language and continued. Opposite of de escalation.
To me it seems absurd that a policeman cannot freely check the car or the personal belongings of someone. In EU (in most countries) police can, and there is nothing wrong with that, I've been checked many times when I was younger, it's just little annoying, but it ensures that criminals with weapons, drugs, etc, get arrested promptly also as a result of a random road check, which is actually how it should be, but in USA you do all the opposite, you allow for people to carry guns and the police has to excuse for every behavior lol.

The first girl made me laugh. My mom is a retired officer and she would NEVER use her position to get me out of trouble and she made that very clear my entire life. It should always be like that.

The last one is heart-wrenching. Nearly everyone is nervous around police officers. At no point does that give anyone a right to a search or detain anyone.

I've hung out with enough cops to know that some have surprisingly fragile egos, but I've also met ones that you know that you can't present a scenario where they'd compromise their integrity. I’m a retired police officer whose father was involved in an accident many many years ago when I was a patrol officer. FYI, he didn’t drink alcohol. I arrived on the scene. Everybody was OK but I had to call another unit to investigate and I had to step back. My father was actually at fault and he was cited. His one and only accident in 65 years of driving. God bless him. I miss him to this day. We were not above the law, we were there to enforce the law. He didn’t care and understood that I was doing my job.
I'm finding this really wholesome. What a brilliant dad and a good man. He was lucky he had the opportunity to show his daughter what a good citizen he is. She will probably remember this forever and hopefully become a great parent herself one day xx

My dad was a cop. When I was 18, I got pulled over for going 70 in a 55. The cop instantly told me I looked familiar (I’m a carbon copy of my dad) and asked what my dad’s name was after he saw my ID. He told me he knew my dad and he called him, right there on the highway at midnight. My dad ripped me a new one, told me to get my ass home and the cop gave me a ticket. He told me he was gonna let me off with a warning but my dad told him I needed to have consequences. That was an expensive ticket and 20 years later I’ve only had 1 speeding ticket since then.

I agree that all actions have consequences, and I hope she never commits another DUI; however, isn't one of the benefits of having family in government positions to help show you the path of least resistance? The girl talked too much, she should have kept her mouth shut until her dad showed up, to give her the best legal advice he can. me too. i was put in handcuffs, had guns drawn on me and, "arrested" because the officers mistook me for someone they were looking for. i never got angry or scared because i knew it would get sorted out eventually. after they realized their mistake they apologized. when they showed me the picture of the guy they were looking for i almost fainted. he looked exactly like me.
Unfortunately he probably won't. He gave the officer permission to search the vehicle, and there is nothing(at least from what little of the footage we see here) that would indicate the stop was racially motivated. I do agree that the officer was not in the right, but he also didn't violate any of his rights.

Being frightened is not a crime nor an admission of guilt, therefore including the lack of reasonable suspicion for arrest in his lawsuit filing could help him win. The fact that the officers appeared wary and scared when he asked who their supervisor was goes to show just how broken the American justice system really is.
I think a part of it is a professional curtesy. Not saying the good ole boy system is not alive and well but if I was part of a PD and on patrol and a fellow officer pulled over my kid after an accident I sure hope they would call me just a matter of human connection as my co-worker.
Last officers really stepped in it. It would be one thing if you crossed a law student with a father in the courts and they were crooked. They would still likely "get away" with whatever you suspected them of. This situation, however, is a clear search and seizure of a law abiding and educated citizen who was respectful and complicit, yet had his rights molested. I hope they get what's coming and the gentlemen is properly compensated for his suffering, and I don't say that often about these cases.

Well, it was beyond the point of her father being able to get her out of trouble. She was busted by a different police dept on video, and there was no way for her father to sweep it under the rug. But there's a more recent incident on youtube involving a corrupt sheriff abusing his power to prevent his daughter from being held responsible for DUI after she crashed her car in someone's front yard on her way back from a bar.

The officer in the last case clearly violated his rights. This is a perfect example of abuse of authority. There’s a saying that applies here, “absolute power corrupts absolutely”. I intentionally pulled into my friend property so they wouldn’t tow my car and called my moms as soon they pulled me over (I did have a history of gang aff, fighting, dealing, etc but this is all after I been tryna live right for a few years and my record was expunged which took hella work and cash) they took my car off private property with my mom standing right there saying she would take it, took me to jail wouldn’t let me deal with a bondsman so I had to pay over $2k cash to get out one of the trustees took my iphone and couldn’t get it unlocked so they smashed it, had to pay another $350 to get my car out of their impound, got them went to court and had to go take dui courses and shit when I didn’t have a dui. So afterward I’m thinkin I’m born to fck this whole town up go to try and sue these mfkrs and they straight up said “we have no record of you eve being pulled over here.” This after my hosie being raided and nothing found, and getting a letter from the next town over saying I’d I didn’t come pay my seatbelt ticket a warrant would be issued for my arrest… I never got a fkn seatbelt ticket 😂 fck the police, fck the government, and fck anyone that supports the sorry mfkrs the whole system a joke and it ain’t even a funny one😑

U.S. prison system relies on a "pay to incarcerate" system, the government pays private companies who build jails and get paid for every day every inmate is in there. The companies also get the government to sign a contract with them stating they are required to have x amount of inmates at all times and if they should ever go below that number then the government will be in danger of breaching the contract. This in turn leads the government to pass laws this encourage judges and prosecutors to go for the maximum punishment in jail time. The whole system is corrupt and the only way to fix it is from the ground up. But whens the last time the Government attempted to completely reform anything from the ground up?

It is extremely frustrating (even blood curdling) when you've been to court over something and you find out the warrant is still active. It happened to my friend and he actually got some money out of it because something hadn't been put into the system correctly causing the warrant to appear active; he was wrongly arrested, which honestly shouldn't happen.

My ex’s dad was a police officer. I was very surprised, however, to learn she was arrested by her father for DUI one day when her dad was telling “funny” stories. The only thing I miss about her is her amazing dad, wish I could go fishing with him one more time.

My father was a police detective and he told me never to mention his name if I was in trouble. A few times when I was pulled over for speeding I begged and pleaded to be given the ticket instead of telling my dad. No matter what, nothing would be worse than if my dad had to get involved because I was being stupid.
I never mentioned my parents name or anyone elses, and didn't give a shit if my parents knew anything. I don't hide anything from them like some people.
Massive respect for the first dad, he held his job title like a champ. He knows that the only way she can learn from this is facing the hard consequences, also once he knew she called him to try and get her out of it. He knew he had to remove that option from her brain. Because if he ever does decide to "Help her get away with something". Thats a steep slope that no one can recover from. Great dad honorable cop.
Especially because young people with police officers for parents love to brag that their dad is a cop and will get them out of trouble even when that officer has never proven to do so lol

I was actually arrested for an outstanding warrant when pulled over. I had literally gone to court cleared the warrant and someone in the clerk's office forgot to remove the warrant. Still spent the night in jail. Car was towed. The next morning I was released after they figured out it was their mistake. No apology. No reimbursement. Just let go to pay the towing fees.
That’s a lawsuit! Same thing happened to the father of my children. He was illegally detained for a warrant that was suppose to be cleared 8 years prior but the clerk never cleared it after he had our the fines. He was pulled over & spend a weekend in jail, car towed & was required to pay an additional $800 bond fee. That Monday when he was released he took all of his court documents & receipts to the court proving he had went to court, paid the fines & cleared the warrant proving that it was all the courts fault for not clearing the warrant 8 years prior. They gave him no apology, no reimbursement, no nothing whatsoever! They even told him “ Well things happen sometimes that we aren’t responsible for”! That also told him that he should have just provided 8 YEAR OLD PAPERWORK the day of his arrest proving he was innocent. Those assholes don’t care about anyone but themselves & a paycheck! So that Tuesday he brought all his paperwork etc to a local attorney & ended up serving the courts for a civil rights violation & for false imprisonment & a few other things & not long after he received a very nice paycheck from the city for their crooked ways & for violating his rights. In the end they paid for his time lost while in jail, his lost $800 for bond, another $700 to release his truck from the towing company as well as a nice new vehicle just as a gift to himself for all the stress & problems they gave him & then several thousand more on top of that just because they were assholes! Moral of the story….NEVER allow those assholes to get away with violating your rights PERIOD! MAKE THEM PAY!
My dad worked for the state police and basically any time I even suggest that something could lead to legal trouble he would loudly remind me, "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO HELP YOU IF YOU GET IN A LEGAL BIND."
I sincerely hope Marion wins, he was calm collected and truthful up until the end and the officer did not have probable cause and that was a very sketchy search.

But Marion clearly consented to the search which makes a lawsuit unlikely to win on those grounds. The officer was making threats of searching the vehicle against his will anyway by calling in narcotics dogs, thus the consent should not stand (similar to how someone consenting while threatened is not deemed as valid). The officer clearly intended to search the vehicle whether consent was given or not.
Officers like that are why dog searches are so scrutinized, clearly the dog was told to "alert" or he isnt doing its job correctly. The dog needs to be off the force for 3 false alerts if theyre that unreliable. Its just another tool for cops to force their opinion and will on people "legally"
They're great parents honestly for enforcing the law on them. They'll thank them later. Being a parent is hard as hell and I can't imagine how bad it is while you're a cop.

When I was dating a cop & had a PBA courtesy card, I remember a time I was actually going close to 80 in a 65 & when he pulled me over, I merely handed him my licence when he saw I didn't hand him the PBA card, (bc I knew I was wrong & apologize) he asked me what it was & if he could see it. He called my bf, handed me the cards back & said pls just slow down & dont speed anymore & I knew right then & there, honesty can go a LONG way. He gave me the courtesy BECAUSE I didn't try to get out of it. Other officers, esp state troopers haven't been so kind in general in the last 6 yrs I have been assaulted by cops (even times I barely escaped with my life & should have been rushed to the hospital on a stretcher with a neck brace.) Some can be great, others man....I don't get what they enjoy hurting people for.
The scary thing about Crooked Cops in Canada (at least in my area), they aren't legally obligated to wear body cams. Most of the time, people who are falsely accused or beaten by local police don't have the proper evidence they require in court due to this issue.

Also, the law enforcement officer kept stepping into his personal space. When a man has authority and invades your space aggressively, it will cause nervousness. You have no normal recourse in that situation. The officer seemed to know this by his body language and continued. Opposite of de escalation.
To me it seems absurd that a policeman cannot freely check the car or the personal belongings of someone. In EU (in most countries) police can, and there is nothing wrong with that, I've been checked many times when I was younger, it's just little annoying, but it ensures that criminals with weapons, drugs, etc, get arrested promptly also as a result of a random road check, which is actually how it should be, but in USA you do all the opposite, you allow for people to carry guns and the police has to excuse for every behavior lol.

What hurts and disgusts me the most is the BLATANT difference in treatment between the first two and the last who out of ALL of them literally did NOTHING!!! I’m a retired police officer whose father was involved in an accident many many years ago when I was a patrol officer. FYI, he didn’t drink alcohol. I arrived on the scene. Everybody was OK but I had to call another unit to investigate and I had to step back. My father was actually at fault and he was cited. His one and only accident in 65 years of driving. God bless him. I miss him to this day. We were not above the law, we were there to enforce the law. He didn’t care and understood that I was doing my job.
My heart goes out to you. I’m sorry he’s no longer here. I recently lost my mother so I understand.

My dad was a cop. When I was 18, I got pulled over for going 70 in a 55. The cop instantly told me I looked familiar (I’m a carbon copy of my dad) and asked what my dad’s name was after he saw my ID. He told me he knew my dad and he called him, right there on the highway at midnight. My dad ripped me a new one, told me to get my ass home and the cop gave me a ticket. He told me he was gonna let me off with a warning but my dad told him I needed to have consequences. That was an expensive ticket and 20 years later I’ve only had 1 speeding ticket since then.

I got arrested as a teen, my mom was an officer at the time, out of respect for her I never brought up her name to save her from embarrassment, I didnt want to make her seem like a bad parent because she wasnt. He gave the officer permission to search the vehicle, and there is nothing(at least from what little of the footage we see here) that would indicate the stop was racially motivated. I do agree that the officer was not in the right, but he also didn't violate any of his rights.

Being frightened is not a crime nor an admission of guilt, therefore including the lack of reasonable suspicion for arrest in his lawsuit filing could help him win.

I think a part of it is a professional curtesy. Not saying the good ole boy system is not alive and well but if I was part of a PD and on patrol and a fellow officer pulled over my kid after an accident I sure hope they would call me just a matter of human connection as my co-worker.
To be fair in a situation like that it would seem he's trying to abuse his power. They were fair to be wary.
Last officers really stepped in it. It would be one thing if you crossed a law student with a father in the courts and they were crooked. They would still likely "get away" with whatever you suspected them of. This situation, however, is a clear search and seizure of a law abiding and educated citizen who was respectful and complicit, yet had his rights molested. I hope they get what's coming and the gentlemen is properly compensated for his suffering, and I don't say that often about these cases.

Well, it was beyond the point of her father being able to get her out of trouble. She was busted by a different police dept on video, and there was no way for her father to sweep it under the rug. But there's a more recent incident on youtube involving a corrupt sheriff abusing his power to prevent his daughter from being held responsible for DUI after she crashed her car in someone's front yard on her way back from a bar.
And the fact he still gave her a hug afterward was a very fatherly thing to do. “I love you but you effd up and you have to face the consequences”

My dad was a cop. I was raised knowing that cops are held to a higher standard. In our family, that included all of us. If I had ever been pulled over for a DUI or something, the LAST person I'd want to see would have been Daddy. To me, the worst punishment in the world was disappointing him.

I intentionally pulled into my friend property so they wouldn’t tow my car and called my moms as soon they pulled me over (I did have a history of gang aff, fighting, dealing, etc but this is all after I been tryna live right for a few years and my record was expunged which took hella work and cash) they took my car off private property with my mom standing right there saying she would take it, took me to jail wouldn’t let me deal with a bondsman so I had to pay over $2k cash to get out one of the trustees took my iphone and couldn’t get it unlocked so they smashed it, had to pay another $350 to get my car out of their impound, got them went to court and had to go take dui courses and shit when I didn’t have a dui. So afterward I’m thinkin I’m born to fck this whole town up go to try and sue these mfkrs and they straight up said “we have no record of you eve being pulled over here.” This after my hosie being raided and nothing found, and getting a letter from the next town over saying I’d I didn’t come pay my seatbelt ticket a warrant would be issued for my arrest… I never got a fkn seatbelt ticket 😂 fck the police, fck the government, and fck anyone that supports the sorry mfkrs the whole system a joke and it ain’t even a funny one😑

U.S. prison system relies on a "pay to incarcerate" system, the government pays private companies who build jails and get paid for every day every inmate is in there. The companies also get the government to sign a contract with them stating they are required to have x amount of inmates at all times and if they should ever go below that number then the government will be in danger of breaching the contract. This in turn leads the government to pass laws this encourage judges and prosecutors to go for the maximum punishment in jail time. The whole system is corrupt and the only way to fix it is from the ground up. But whens the last time the Government attempted to completely reform anything from the ground up?

It is extremely frustrating (even blood curdling) when you've been to court over something and you find out the warrant is still active. It happened to my friend and he actually got some money out of it because something hadn't been put into the system correctly causing the warrant to appear active; he was wrongly arrested, which honestly shouldn't happen.

My father was a police detective and he told me never to mention his name if I was in trouble. A few times when I was pulled over for speeding I begged and pleaded to be given the ticket instead of telling my dad. No matter what, nothing would be worse than if my dad had to get involved because I was being stupid.

Most states have good things in place for first time offenders as far as weed goes, so charges can get expunged with community service and whatnot.

I was actually arrested for an outstanding warrant when pulled over. I had literally gone to court cleared the warrant and someone in the clerk's office forgot to remove the warrant. Still spent the night in jail. Car was towed. The next morning I was released after they figured out it was their mistake. No apology. No reimbursement. Just let go to pay the towing fees.

That’s a lawsuit! Same thing happened to the father of my children. He was illegally detained for a warrant that was suppose to be cleared 8 years prior but the clerk never cleared it after he had our the fines. He was pulled over & spend a weekend in jail, car towed & was required to pay an additional $800 bond fee. That Monday when he was released he took all of his court documents & receipts to the court proving he had went to court, paid the fines & cleared the warrant proving that it was all the courts fault for not clearing the warrant 8 years prior. They gave him no apology, no reimbursement, no nothing whatsoever! They even told him “ Well things happen sometimes that we aren’t responsible for”! That also told him that he should have just provided 8 YEAR OLD PAPERWORK the day of his arrest proving he was innocent. Those assholes don’t care about anyone but themselves & a paycheck! So that Tuesday he brought all his paperwork etc to a local attorney & ended up serving the courts for a civil rights violation & for false imprisonment & a few other things & not long after he received a very nice paycheck from the city for their crooked ways & for violating his rights. In the end they paid for his time lost while in jail, his lost $800 for bond, another $700 to release his truck from the towing company as well as a nice new vehicle just as a gift to himself for all the stress & problems they gave him & then several thousand more on top of that just because they were assholes! Moral of the story….NEVER allow those assholes to get away with violating your rights PERIOD! MAKE THEM PAY!

The officer was making threats of searching the vehicle against his will anyway by calling in narcotics dogs, thus the consent should not stand (similar to how someone consenting while threatened is not deemed as valid). When I was dating a cop & had a PBA courtesy card, I remember a time I was actually going close to 80 in a 65 & when he pulled me over, I merely handed him my licence when he saw I didn't hand him the PBA card, (bc I knew I was wrong & apologize) he asked me what it was & if he could see it. He called my bf, handed me the cards back & said pls just slow down & dont speed anymore & I knew right then & there, honesty can go a LONG way.
He gave me the courtesy BECAUSE I didn't try to get out of it.
Other officers, esp state troopers haven't been so kind in general in the last 6 yrs I have been assaulted by cops (even times I barely escaped with my life & should have been rushed to the hospital on a stretcher with a neck brace.) Some can be great, others man....I don't get what they enjoy hurting people for.
The scary thing about Crooked Cops in Canada (at least in my area), they aren't legally obligated to wear body cams. Most of the time, people who are falsely accused or beaten by local police don't have the proper evidence they require in court due to this issue.
