EcoEvo Design, covers air leakage, insulation consistency and some ideas on effective ventilation in a Southern Australian Suburban home. Air Tightness in Australia means moving toward the need for better ventilation strategies. You can progress your homes performance towards a more air tight building envelope. Gas ducted heating can be a key area of air leakage issues. We cover the building envelope checking insulation consistency, and blower door testing of the home to highlight key issues inside this stock Melbourne suburban home, in order to help people understand what it means to have a high performing building envelope.
    Thanks...

Should and when would the services a company like yours provide be part of the construction process to provide quality control for a builder and to avoid disputes when it's costly for a builder to rectify? I assume there is more than one stage and perhaps what about before commencement (without going for passive haus standard). Say 9 or 10 star goal.

Hi John, what is the plug in device you used in conjunction with your smart phone that produces the thermal image?

Tom Chen, that is a FLIR one thermal imaging camera.

We find alot of very poorly ventilated bsthrooms using heat fan combos all the way in the middle of the bathroom usually with either a pathetic 100 barrel fan which does nothing or a 150 200mm axil fan with no draft stoppers.

Efficiency Matrix yeah i saw that the other week.
We use downlights( im an electrician) that are sealled and abutted and covered rated meaning you can full cover. Always use exfans which have draft stoppers.

Ryan Macklin Good stuff. IC rated fittings are great, but their lamp life longevity is NOT tested with insulation covering them. Do these IC rated fittings have control gear?

Efficiency Matrix all inbuilt in the one unit. Been using them for 3 odd years i think now.they seem to work well, have great liggt properties, dont have an ugly lip on the edge and now come in a multi colour.
Im not quite sure how theyve gone from aluminum to plastice with no fins and control gear inside but we've been covering them for bout 3 years now with only a couple fail

Ryan Macklin they are getting better. The saving grace is probably not leaving them turned on for long periods of time. IC ratings with integrated control gears are great, when you can completely submerge them in insulation! Good stuff!

If you wanna control air, you gotta enclose them first.
