Great interview. I got mono about a year ago and my experience has been VERY similar to his so I can totally understand... Was trying to make it on the Futures circuit when it happened, completely devastated me. First 6-7 months were a nightmare. Now very slowly better, but can play no more than 15-20 minutes, not sure if I can ever get back to my previous level. Anyway, will definitely be cheering for Robin if he comes back!
Same for me.. sometimes it is a week in bed. But for me it was also a 7 months sick in bed. Worst thing in my life. it affected my liver and spleen and I left sequels in my body.
Same here. I couldnt stand him either. He seems a pretty good guy now. Good he is involved in tennis again. Wish him the best and hopefully a full recovery.
This guy and delpo too could have easily replaced Murray in the big 4, but due to injuries, unfortunately they could not. Huge game this guy had, what a shame mono won the battle.
Robin Soderling is one of the tennis Players who have beaten Rafael Nadal in the French Open, that happened in 2009, as well as dispelling Nadal's ambition to lift the Frenc Open trophy for the fifth time in a row..
What a shame he had to retire; had lots of potential and really a nice guy off the court. Does anyone think he looks a little like Simon Pegg here? That's the first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail.
It's a pity that he is no longer playing, his rivalries and game added a lot of expectation to the matches I think he's been widely misunderstood and taken as a dick when he may just be a little bit socially awkward
If he will comeback he will be 30+ but if he will be in 100% condition, then he can play good around his 35th birthday because he hasn't played few years so his body will be younger than his age.
What a man! Unlike so many of his peers who faltered under pressure, Robin went into the lion's den v Nadal and won! He virtually did the impossible. A really fine player. World no. 4 in 2010. Never pandered to sentimentality. No fawning deference to the 'Big 3'. You gotta admire him!
his affliction seems worse than a corona attack... how do these top athletes from 1st world countries like sweden switzerland etc catch such ailments... like mononucleosis...! scary... but amazing every one of these top guys says they started playing tennis when they were 3...4...etc...
At least he stopped playing and respected his body, unlike the stubborn Fed who kept playing when he wasn't 100% till Nadal got in his head on grass and hardcourts, and now Novak.
soderling looks so good now im happy for him
What a forehand this guy had
yeah, biggest on tour (well equal with del potro)
it's a shame he has to retire. It's a loss for the tennis world that we lose such a talented player.

Did you ever try to make another run on futures?
Soderling is just a great great player . I enjoyed watching Soderling and Wawrinka the most
Great personality and beautiful smile
He was one heck of a player. That Power.
murray, wawrinka, delpotro and soderling. a big 4 in a another dimension.

Last time I seen him play was against Tomic at Wimbledon 2011.
Just so sad. Poor Robin. I still hope one day he will return healthy.
He's coming back on the tour next year
David Poudrier Source? Don't get my hopes up...
+gumbo wut, he said he HOPES he comes back
Good luck Robin and thanks for the entertainment over the years and especially that amazing match, you know which one:)
The guys playing tennis in the background are really hitting the ball hard......crushing it!
Well, the interview is done during the Stockholm Open so they are probably ATP players
My 2009 tennis hero, for sure.
This guy and delpo too could have easily replaced Murray in the big 4, but due to injuries, unfortunately they could not.
Huge game this guy had, what a shame mono won the battle.
Robin has always been one of my top favorites. The list includes Del Potro, Monica Seles, Graf, Arancia
Soderling vs Nadal in RG 2009 was the most I match in federer's career

I think he looks a hell of a lot like the actor Patrick Adams, from Suits
when he will come back it's been 4 years that he is inactive
It's a pity that he is no longer playing, his rivalries and game added a lot of expectation to the matches
I think he's been widely misunderstood and taken as a dick when he may just be a little bit socially awkward
I hope he will come back but after so much time off the court, it's going to be complicated.
so, after all.... NO comeback ?? :-(
Some people say he was a dick. Is that true? Or was he just a complex, easy to misunderstand personality?
I loved the small rivalry that he had with Nadal.
That hair style looks good on him.

He should've won at least a grand slam. Had plenty of potential.
If Tom Hiddleston gets sick, we've got a backup Loki on our hands. Great guy btw.

he looks like a musician all of a sudden
I had mononucleosis.. maybe i still have. :/
what was wrong with him that made him retire?
What it says in the title. He could not play to level he wanted to.
his affliction seems worse than a corona attack... how do these top athletes from 1st world countries like sweden switzerland etc catch such ailments... like mononucleosis...! scary...

"oh I remember semi-finals of french open when he played against Rafa Nadal"- it wasn't semi-finals, so you don't remember very well do you????
It was semifinals. He lost to Roger in the finals
oops! It was definitely 4th round lol apologies
No it was the semis
+David Poudrier it was the 4th round against rafa nadal stop bullshitting
He's 29 here in the video, but looks like 49.
NLLeFa mononucleosis
he was 30
Missing Man of Tennis
What a cool guy. I hope he's everything alright
Only remembered for beating rafa ONCE
At least he stopped playing and respected his body, unlike the stubborn Fed who kept playing when he wasn't 100% till Nadal got in his head on grass and hardcourts, and now Novak.
Nadal had his number at Wimbledon, and to continue playing just shows his passion to the sport.
Ahmed Bebars Mono can be different for anyone. Once it's a short and quite thing, once it's like Robins.
Reading this comment in 2017 😂
Reading this comment in 2018. 3 grand slams later, still the GOAT
Monodoping yep!.. (sorry to tell)
he's a liar. He lies about comeback.
esshoul How is he a liar?
