    Another wonderful learning opportunity! I love mango , grew up climbing them and "stealing" from our own trees, as parents would rather have the mango ripen and I thought they were ripe for picking!!! Thank you.

    Just a word of caution. Be very aware when working near overhead power lines. A great effort and expense for a utility company is to ensure power lines do not make contact with trees. An electrical arc can occur from the utility line to the tree branch. I cringed when that top fell on those service lines in the video and she was on the tree. Stay safe.

    Best to do the major cutting with a chainsaw or polesaw and then fine cut with the hand saw. You will not expend so much energy trying to cut the tree back. Just a tip from a mango farmer with 1000 trees. You sounded a bit gassed after working one tree.

      @@ghangssikute3379 I was pointing out that she seemed tired after working that one tree. There are still plenty of exercise opportunities after the limbs are cut down. The green waste still has to be carried away and/or cut up for composting or burnimg or putting into the trash or chipping, cleanup of the area to inhibit pests and disease, and preparation for the introduction of the new cuttings and grafts.

    Where I come from (the Tropics) we generally cut the tree down to about a foot off the ground, by doing so, we double the yield per stem . . but, be warned - this is when the "two legged snappers" are advantaged. They are only 6 inches tall (their cultural name is Snap-Arse Hoppers, they don't have hands, so, they snap at the fruit (tried bobbing for apples) anyways, because the fruit is so low to the ground, the pickers have to crouch down in order to pick, and hence the name. . . ha, ha, ha, LMAO!

      I have a concern here, trees are bended at a point, where from that point 85% of the tree is bent, so i should cut/trim the tree at that point, which will take another 1.5 years to grow the stems as much as we have now. So will that be suggested in this case or should i give some bamboo support to withstand from the wind breaking? I have few photos of the tree to show you, but i dont no how to reach you on this?

      "Top working" usually means removing the main trunk and will graft a new variety into the trunk (this uses the current strong root structure & decreases the need to plant & 3-5 years developing another tree; or space saver, having multiple varities on one tree; or can re-invigorate an older, non-productive tree). Or curb the top growth so it doesn't grow into overhead utility lines (!) yowzers!
      Garden plans change, as in life. And we are encouraged to adjust. Best wishes!

      If temperatures are mild, grafting can work any time of year. Some people graft only when temperatures are above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but I graft when temperatures are cooler. In cooler temperatures top working on established trees seems to be more successful than grafting onto small potted plants.

      It's impossible to do everything at the ideal time, but the size of this base tree creates different opportunities than a smaller tree.

    There are many fruit trees varity in the tropical climate like that manggo the only things that I don't like in the tropical region the temperature condition is extreme hot especially during noontime or afternoon.

    Hey is to late to prune mango trees

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  6 років тому

      Ideally you prune right after you pick the last fruit from the tree. You might risk next year's crop if you prune now.

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  6 років тому +1

      We just did major trimming on some of the large mango trees, but that trimming will affect fruit production for years. If you want fruit this coming summer, I would wait until after you pick the next crop before you prune.

      Not really pruning, she is prepping the tree, to change the variety, she will graft new scions on the suckers that come up.

    side note: I bet you give one hell of a hand job ..am i right? please dont answer we know the answer. just joking around .but anyways ..youre going to have hundreds of need shoots. youre going to have to pull off on each nub you cut. if not, its going to be a bushy tree .that saw that was sharp ,I wouldnt dare attempt to cut that last branch/trunck with my hand saw. much respect to you.
