A much needed video! I too give in to such negativity despite my best intentions .. the spirit of riding gets diminished this way.. need to correct my perspective again.. thank you.
This was spot on and much needed! I can relate to this on so many levels from knowing friends who have been putting off finally putting down the booking amount and taking home a motorcycle for several years just because they have read so many negative comments on every bike they considered. I made a switch to light weight adv 3 years ago and I've seen not just full-time youtube trolls but owners on whatsapp groups spend most of these years complaining about the bike. I couldn't relate to them because I've spent those same 3 years riding and exploring new places with a big grin under the helmet. How can you be negative when you have 2 wheels and a motor?
Very, very well said Shumi.. Love to watch each and every Podcast, this one was no different.. "Spread Love, not Hatred" motto was from heart to heart & very clear. Thank you Shumi..😇
I'm from Mexico and I'm a fan of your channel guys! Many of the bikes that you review they didn't sell here haha but I still love to watch your videos because the passion is almost palpable. And yes, to anybody watching this, what he is saying is very true, the worst thing that you can do is to form a bad opinion on something that you don't know, or even worse... on yourself! Never take bad things for granted, never say that you will never have a expensive bike or house or whatever thing, because if you only expect bad things from others or from a product or ¡from yourself!, you will only see the half of the story, you will shut down your ability to see the good things and you will live in a world where everything is bad because you're programming your brain to search for the bad things and ignore the good ones, is a matter of programming so ¿how do you program yourself?
Wow Feels so good to have a similar mindset 25, could have bought Duke 390 but settled with a Xpulse and spent extra cash on Riding gears and one good tour. I had been where you are. I rode a Thunderbird 350 that I didn't like for 5 years (I couldn't afford to change the bike during the period). Riding the TB 350 wasn't ideal to me, but it was definitely better than spending the 5 years not riding :) Chin up mate it's only a matter of time till you have a sport bike !
That's fine ! Its just a person's normal process to discover what they want in life, be it a career, relationship, or a bike ! I agree with Akshat, just listen to yourself and don't get trapped in other people's opinion and herd mentality.
I was in love with the way RE Interceptor looked. I test drove it, and it did not do anything for me (the bike had crazy power, but I did not like the suspension setup at all). I also test drive Himalayan, and boy I blown. I felt no bumps and seat was super comfortable. I felt I was gliding over pothole ridded Bangalore roads. Many of friends asked to pick interceptor as it was powerful, but I had to go for Himalayan. I have had few long rides without any issues. Yes, the bike has heating issues in city rides, but I can live it. The story is just to corroborate everything Shumi just said. Brilliant video, specially for teenagers/adults looking to make their first purchase.
Thank you shumi for talking on this topic, everyone should understand that a review cannot finalize the product its when the customer test and see in real
Sir the point brought out by you in this podcast is absolutely correct . In my opinion the word " WOW " should come out for any machine on wheels..... cause whether car or bike ......they do bring happiness to our boring lives.
Nailed it Shumi. Can't have anything good if we think negatively about it in the the first place. I guess that's not how an enthusiast's mindset should be. Be neutral, experience it, know it and then form an opinion that is original, that one can be confident of. Holds true in all walks of life. Great job 👍
This video reaches to the roots of a lot of ideologies towards motorcycle launches. I feel no motorcycle is bad, it's just that not every motorcycle will fit your expectations and that does not make it a bad machine. For example, I was chatting with a lot of riders online and the wave of negativity they had for FZ250 was surprising. But there is so much more to that machine. So yes, that's absolutely true what this video relates to. 👍👍
Every product out there is a taste to someone, and a result to a need and aspiration to someone. I am extremely thankful that I now, have a podcast I can share with a few who need to get their thoughts in order. Very recently a dear friend of mine bought something to which some in our circle had, kind of a narcissistic approach. I realised that people sometimes need to realise that they are not the centre of the universe. Thankfully this podcast nails it... 🤘

Very well said! And everything that sir said precisely implies not only for motorcycles but any freaking thing around. Enjoy what you have at the moment. Life is too short to criticise everything! :))
Short and great podcast, as always. Love these kind of informative videos. And i just want to add, we are all motorcyclists so why do we need to make opinions on other people's choices? If we are content with ourselves why not just let other people be? An advice is one thing, but just forming an idea for someone from just our own experience is making the biking scene more toxic. Lets try to be better for ourselves and for others
i loved the way he spoke about this. i mean people really look up to motorcycle reviews and blindly trust on the reviewers opinion and just talk about numbers and specs sheets, which is not wrong but less practical until you ride one. one should get what suits his/her criteria and feel connected to the motorcycle they buy. every machine has it's own worth.. for some it may work and for some it may not but just judging and demotivating others about their choice is just not cool. appreciate every other beautiful machine
This is one of the best podcast I came across. There were many good machines in the market , just because of negative publicity they never reached their deserving numbers. I started my automobile passion from Jawa to, TVS Champ to BSA Bentem to Norton, Nissan X-terra (abroad) to back in India on Hero Glamour (Rode 11000 Km in four days). All these machines are fantastic, but i memories are with Jawa and TVS Champ.
I agree! I waited and saved for the dream bike and until then I rode 2008 discover and tbh it gave me great perspective and riding experience. It helped me understand the nuances of bike riding & what affect what & yes riding IS a life experience ✨
This is an Eye opener for a lot of riders. Thanks for this very important podcast!!! Please compare Xpulse 4V to Apache RTR 200 4V I'm stuck in between these 2. In my city Xpulse 4V is not available in showroom. I'm need it for 60% City Ride and 40% highway rides (500 kms)
Fantastic... We need more people like you in the UA-cam community. You have dusted the brain, I am sure many people have changed. Your work is always great.
Love you Shumi. What an eye opening thing you said in this video! I also used to make criticisms on superbike's prices in the past. but I won't anymore. I'mma take your advice, and few years down the line, park that Beast in my Garage. Cheers man, you made my day!
Wow! This is an amazing podcast and take it outside the motorcycle world this will make life better for some steeped in negativity about their life itself
Great podcast! I completely agree with the “Ab nahi hoyega, magar may be dus saal baad hoyega”. When RE launched the Himalayan, I was totally blown away with the posture and feel of the bike. But 1.7L was way out of my budget. Over the years RE found the defects on their BS3 model and launched the better BS4 model. I still couldn’t afford it though. So, bought a 2500kms used Himalayan, which was as good as a new one! Thanks Shumi Sir! 🙏
One of the best podcasts till now... I can directly relate to how I saved money to buy my favourite Honda Hornet series(2.0). As you said everyone tried to hold me not buy this machine because of cost and all. Still, I bought it as my heart wishing to own one in my garage. Thanks for the lesson in a very constructive positive way. I really think one who understands common sense would understand this :)
Imagine how much better our Indian Road atmosphere would be, if every rider had Shumi sir's mentality and maturity. 🙌🏽 I can watch this man talk about motorcycles for hours. 🙏🏽
Thanks for this video shumi sir. More than reviews of powerdrift, I wait for these podcasts as I won't find them anywhere else. This video had to come out mainly from people like you who can make more impact. Changed my perception as well to an extent. Thank you!!
I didn't know I needed to hear this. I am glad that I did. I leave with hope and a shift in perspective. Thanks Shumi! Thanks PD! You've made me realise I can be a better person than who I was 8 mins back. Cheers!
Dude, what’s your target audience with this video? I mean, on an average, people under 30 won’t get what you’re saying. Most of it comes with experience, not age, but experience of lots of riding. Appreciate you sharing so much stuff that makes sense, but some philosophies are learnt first hand.
OMG! my point exactly...i love every motorcycle ever...thats the passion that we share...it doesn't matter how expensive mine is or how cheap is urs...i have a Splendor a Fz 16 and a Versys 650...i love all of them. They all bring a smile on my face everytime i ride them...
This is very very good. And in general this applies to every part of life. Not just motorcycles. People should look into other opinions but should not let themselves be influenced by the same.
Spot on ! The analogy that comes to mind to me is how often people watching a sports match, say cricket or tennis start commenting on the player or what they could have done better or how useless a player is. And the advice someone very wise gave to such folks many years ago was: something like: "Get into the stadium and play the game instead of sitting in the stands and just making negative comments"
I realised this when i bought RE Continental GT 535... Lots of people complaining about its vibration, spares cost, etc etc.. i rode it, in love with it! Let's love everything ❤️
Positive criticism is good. We can't always appreciate or not criticize a product because that would take away the "feedback" part of it by the general public. I understand we shouldn't be cribbing about every product or finding loopholes in it but it's always good to put the need of the hour out there. I need a 200-350 CC scooter but I can't buy one because apparently BMW wants to sell one for 12 lacs. Having said that, yes I agree that we shouldn't be hasty in product bashing. As Shumi said, go out there and feel it yourself first. Big fan :)
Wow.. thats reminded my boss. I see that some thing personal has shaken. As you said right. Dreams are the wings to fly. There are always sad story from failures. Worry not. Dreams big to get big. So chill..
Data driven and practical approach to constructive criticism ( after trying ) is really the best way to dicuss and voice your opinion. Also most of the critisim is so subjective ( somebody likes out right acceleration and some like a long drawn top end battle - every action will come with a consequence and hence constructive feedback is better way to express ) - @Shumar awesome rant 👍👍
Must reviewers, I felt, don't talk negative about foreign brands. But they become eager to point about how heavy one bike is or how slim the USD forks are. Thanks #Shumi.

Cheers! Thank you!
This podcast is something.. it's really inspiring..
This is both insightful and inspirational. For the motorcycles , let’s start today 😇
Yes Shumi, you are absolutely right! Thank you for raising this point about negativity and enlightening everyone here! 😊
Cup cup cup
Sweet Cup stop🔴🔴🔴🔴
Imagine how much better our Indian Road atmosphere would be, if every rider had Shumi sir's mentality and maturity. 🙌🏽
I can watch this man talk about motorcycles for hours.
Cheers!
Superb, Thanks Shumi, its very sensible and much helpful video... @powerdrift keep up the good work..
I just simply loved this approach towards life & motorcycle both❤️
Dude, what’s your target audience with this video? I mean, on an average, people under 30 won’t get what you’re saying. Most of it comes with experience, not age, but experience of lots of riding. Appreciate you sharing so much stuff that makes sense, but some philosophies are learnt first hand.
OMG! my point exactly...i love every motorcycle ever...thats the passion that we share...it doesn't matter how expensive mine is or how cheap is urs...i have a Splendor a Fz 16 and a Versys 650...i love all of them. They all bring a smile on my face everytime i ride them...
Really appreciate the way Shumi provides a wholistic picture...too good Shumi..hatts off to transfer the knowledge and passion towards motorcycling 👍
Totally agree.. people jump to conclusions with the price, power and utility of the vehicle, without thinking about what they want to do..
This is very very good. And in general this applies to every part of life. Not just motorcycles. People should look into other opinions but should not let themselves be influenced by the same.
Thats Motorcycling Wisdom by Sir Shumi!! I think maybe no one has touched down such so far.
Just a guiding light in the dark times! :)
The journey becomes so enjoyable when you switch your mind rather than killing the throttle 💯
Will keep each and everything u said in mind, while reviewing bikes. 💯
More respect to you shumi !❤️
Love you sir. Very fortunate that you are here. And completely agree with you. Will practice what you so beautifully said 👍🏻
I realised this when i bought RE Continental GT 535...
Big fan :)
i was watching powerdrift videos from last 2 years but subscribed today immediately!...Great content shumi sir👍
Life lesson dropped. "It's doesn't have to be today but work towards it :)". Thanks for lighting the aspiration.
Thank you Shumi for the validation! :)
Much needed SchuMi. Hats off to you!
Aye, thanks! We shall ask Shum to make more like this!
This is the same reason I stopped watching comments. Thank you Shumi for making such a great video and rightly guiding youth🙏
Your episode 25, made me watch episode 24.
Thanks Shumi. I think bikes like Hero, Indian, RE, Harley, have faced this a lot
Wow.. thats reminded my boss. I see that some thing personal has shaken. As you said right. Dreams are the wings to fly. There are always sad story from failures. Worry not. Dreams big to get big. So chill..
oh my god, podcast is going on another level🔥🔥🔥 i am going to shear this on my status for sure.......💖💖💖
Sensei shumi touched a great point through this video. I think this video should reach to every person.
Finally ,..thanks for putting it across in such simple way ..it's always so negative to see ppl comments in auto enthusiastic page.
feeling blessed to be in the good hands of powerdrift and Shumi sir!
And we are blessed to have your support Jalaj!
This man be spitting truth everytime he comes on screen!! 🙌 Respect 💯
I agree with you, when I see something online I do have some thoughts but I let them out when I see the vehicle face to face
This podcast made me to fall in love with PD again.
Too much positivity for online content 😎
