I am sobbing my heart out. I sang in this choir in 1986. (later edit: I sang in this choir, not this song). I am 59 years old. Most of my thoughts of late have been "feeling a little bit low", and here you come and lift us all up again. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Good question, they are so multifaceted! They single in exquisite harmony, in perfect pitch - music in many different languages - English, Xhosa, Zulu, Afrikaans, Sotho, Christian gospel and hymns...
For some reason I believe this is what we are all suppose to sound like when we’re all in harmony with each other. Everyone has value regardless of race, color, religion or creed, our World could take a lesson here.

This is indeed the world's best choir. A choir where you can hear all the voices come together as one to produce such magic. The tenors and altos are just amazing. As always, the sopranos and the bass never disappoint. Absolutely fantastic 💯💯💯

Just think. The greatest choir in the world is a bunch of twenty-year-olds. And think too what they show the world about the strengths and potential of South Africa. And don’t forget that even before Andre van der Merwe made this stunning arrangement, Jerusalema had become something close to the world’s anthem, not to mention a worldwide dance phenomenon of historic proportions. Dear South Africa. We hear so much about South Africa's many great problems. But you are stronger than you may know. The fact that this choir, the greatest in the world, is both so diverse and so excellent shows us that. The Land of Music also has many other strong institutions. They are your country's promise.
If only the leaders in SA can understand that working together will be the beginning of a country that works for all of its people! How wonderful is the sound of this South African choir!

I live in the USA now but it is wonderful to hear the choir again.
The sadness of this is that it doesn't go on forever and is lost through time. These young people will age and go their separate ways. You wish that this time would last forever with all the members of the choir retaining their youth, beauty, and harmonious glory. Lets talk about the fact that there is much more than the choir singing in this video there is a symphony of the sounds of nature who are in harmony with the Stellenbosch University Choir so many more data points than meets the eye. ;-)
I am curious how the process of rehearsal of this choir. Because trust me, it's not easy to produce this beautiful symphony. When we hear a choir singing beautifully it means lots of hard work and discipline that all of them gave to achieve it together. Salute for the conductor.

Saw André work his magic when he was with the SA Youth Choir and they came to perform at choir festival in Potchefstroom.
I was part of the Northwest Youth Choir back then.
Still one of my favourite conductors and musicians. Thank you for the magic, André and the SUC.
The song, the arrangement, alle these voices en especially the male voices, so incredible, so colorful and the conductor with his friendly eyes, I love it!

Andre's layered rich adaption is close to vocal and musical perfection.
That is why I call it a choral tone poem. And he is a genius with layers of harmony, pacing, bringing his choristers to perfection. He has also built a culture of excellence for this choir that means that choir veterans are his allies in bringing new members along. This choir. - and many others in SA - perform at a level above the world average. They also draw richness both from indigenous music and the vibrant SA pop scene.

Every year this wonderful choir always looks happy and manages to be both technically excellent and relaxed at the same time, a difficult thing to achieve
The original theme was the first song that put my son to sleep in my lap, a week old. Today, at the age of 3, he still gets dizzy when he listens to this song.
Your version in this choir... makes me vibrate, get goose bumps, drop a tear.

This world renowned choir reminds me of my days as a choir member in our University in the Philippines….5 years of magnificent and magical moments of singing!
I've done choir for five years at my college where we were family and came together to sing incredible choral pieces where we went to different high schools and our main church at college to share our music with. It's something that will be etched in my heart for a long time. I miss my choir so much i graduated two years ago. I come and listen to their music and can't ever get enough of their sound its impeccable. 🥰
To Understand music , I believe, you have to Listen to a good choir.

We had missed your bespoke renditions of so many great songs. Also, if I could do life again, I would go to uni at Stellenbosch, if only to be a part of this choir.
