  • The Honda HR-V is the cheapest option in Honda's fleet (RIP Fit), but that doesn't mean it's the cheapest to drive on the highway. However, you can get all-wheel drive and still break 30 mpg at 70 mph.

    Charlie, Quite frankly, the fuel efficiency is embarrassing for a new model launched in 2022. I am confident the HR-V would achieve far better mpg with Honda's 1.5 turbo just as the Corolla Cross would do better with the 2.5. Both models are screaming out for Hybrid powertrains.

      New corolla cross hybrid will be faster and more efficient

      The solution is to make it stop being an SUV. You aren’t beating physics, A Civic hatchback easily gets 40 MPG and offers more space than the new HRV and it’s FASTER, they weigh less, more aerodynamic than the HRV.

      My bet is Honda chose total cost of ownership as the primary reason for this HRV and I bet the 2.0L will be bulletproof compared to the 1.5L turbo.

    I thought it’d be better. Our 2018 Crosstrek (stock, except 15” Method 502’s and Yokohama Geo 105’s) averages 34mpg combined.

      Crossovers suck at everything, you can’t beat physics in a crossover.

      Civic hatchback gets 40 MPG, Crossovers should not exist but stupid people exist so that’s why crossovers are a thing.

    Our 2006 Element with a four-speed auto gets 27-28mpg on the interstate!! WHERE is our HYBRID, Honda?

    I just bought a 2024 and ex-l and the lack of road noise compared to the Toyota corolla cross and rav4 so to me at least with the '24 is considerably quieter than the Toyota equivalent.

    Thank you! Been trying to decide between this and a corolla cross, HR-V feels a lot more premium but the fuel economy is a deal breaker.

      Agreed, and Corolla Cross will likely be more reliable

    The Geo ATs are a great tire.

    The engine/mpg performance combination is just not there. Folks could accept an anemic drivetrain if the fuel efficiency matched. What a bummer. Honda would do well to update the front end to match the new CR-V and a civic styling while dropping in the 1.5 turbo.

    • @aimxdy8680
      @aimxdy8680 Рік тому

      It’s a Crossover, you can’t make it perform good in anything, a Civic Hatch is much more practical and gets better gas mileage and its FASTER.

    I own a 24 sport and although I love the inside, the AWD is amazing in winter....the engine and HP are really starting to make me consider trading it in.
    Its gorgeous inside and feels well built. But the MPG are not good, and the engine is painful on the highway.

    My 2019 Odyssey with 9 speed transmission gives me close to 30-32 mpg on freeway at 65-75 mph speeds

    Seems like the engine is so anemic that it really struggles to move the HR-V along efficiently. There's definitely a balancing act when it comes to economy, and it seems like Honda went so cheap that it actually hurts the consumer in the long run. Also might hurt the consumer further when they fail to make passing maneuvers on the highway.

    I have a 2020 Sport trim and the fuel economy is not good. Only get over 30MPG at a moderate highway speed, around town it's dismal.

    And all-wheel drive 2.0crosstrek gets 35 on the highway from a test I saw on UA-cam and this one gets 31 without all-wheel drive this is a bunch of crap and slow and more expensive than a Crosstrek

  • @Hallowsaw
    @Hallowsaw 9 місяців тому

    A lame awd system isnt worth that mpg rating. Just get a civic and snow tires... save the money and mpg or a crosstrek that has better clearance, smoother/quieter ride, and legit awd system.
