I miss riding dirt bikes there. Clear Creek canyon would completely fill with campers/RVs dirt bikers on holiday weekends. And I mean fill, hundreds of people.

We used to go down there in the winter/spring. The ground was wet, no dust.

Am I correct in assuming that the gate combination one receives when purchasing the access permits on rec.gov work at both North and South ends? I plan on doing a loop riding from the hotel at Panoche Rd/I-5 through New Indria/Clear Creek and back via Coalinga. And it appears from your video that the stream crossings are all on concrete? thanks for creating the video.

On that occasion the code for the north gate did not work. I was coming in the south-north direction so I was stuck inside the ACEC (I got a refund from recreation.gov, for what that is worth). That said, on my subsequent trip (now editing the footage) I did make it through to New Idria and the code worked on both gates. Note also that the last I heard, the bridge at San Carlos Creek on New Idria Rd is still washed out, and the bypass that exists goes over private property. I think everyone just uses the bypass, and I have not personally been through that route (I did Clear Creek in and out), just something to be aware of. I’d be interested to know what you find there. The section from New Idria up to Clear Creek is a lot of fun, steep shelf roads going up the mountain!
