My meal plans usually consist of fried night, grill night, baked night, taco/lasagna/spaghetti night, sandwich night & eat out...rotated [always trying 2make extras for leftover night] We're trying to add a recipe night..love your videos & content...❤Merry Christmas & May God Bless You & Your Family💕
My game changer for meal planning was making lists for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks (have two littles), that I can pull from every week in my planner. Then I’m not forgetting about meals that we all love because thinking of what to eat is always the most taxing part for me!! Now when I’m feeling stuck I just look at my lists and pick whatever, but I don’t have to come up with it out of thin air ✨
I have 3 monthly meal plans that I've created and rotate through quarterly. Family favorites appear on every meal plan, but not every week. We have poultry, fish, pork and beef meals each week with either rice, potatoes, pasta and/or bread...most nights have either cornbread, garlic bread or rolls. Thursday is leftover day. Friday is eat out day. Saturday is Soup/Salad/Sandwich day. Most meals have at least one vegetable (steamed from frozen). We have 3 year old twins (boys) and they eat what we eat because it's nothing sophisticated. Chicken is seasoned and portioned out when we grocery shop, so it's basically just thawing and cooking (instant pot, oven, slow cooker). When I cook something like Italian sausage, i portion and freeze the rest for future meals later in the month (spaghetti, sausage & tortellini soup, etc) because I already know what's on the menu...and i never have to meal plan again! I do work full-time, but I work from home, so I dont lose time commuting.
@@staceylivermore4609 To give you an idea of how I planned it out, you can start with one undated monthly calendar...first write in the days you do not need to plan for (ie Fridays Eat out, Thursdays Leftovers, Saturdays Breakfast for Dinner, Me Day: Fend for Yourself), then write out one main dish, sides and bread under each remaining day on the calendar - label that calendar Months 1,4,7 and 10 - then repeat on two other blank, undated calendars....hope this helps!
This is outstanding! My husband and I are retired. We spend an inordinate amount of time looking for new recipes, plan meals, shop and then cook. It’s like I reinvent a new wheel every week! Thank you!
Just wonderful!! To save more money I always look at what I have on hand so I’m not buying extra stuff. This keeps me from having to throw away foods that have expired that have been hanging out in the back of my pantry ( place foods in the pantry based on the date- new at the back so you use the older date first). I now keep a pantry and freezer inventory list. I look at that first then plan my meals. This has cut my food budget in half and I can put that money towards something else (family fun). Because we have followed advice like what you are teaching about my family is completely debt free (house included). I love learning new ways of doing things to make our lives better. Loving your entire planning series. I will be recommending your channel to others! Thanks for all you do! series!
Okay I need a separate planner now. We eat leftovers during the week just like y’all do. Been trying to plan on the weekly spread for meals but monthly looks so much easier. Thank you for all your wise tips!!
Meal planning is one of the hardest things for me. There are four of us and everybody has different tastes and dietary needs. I am excited to try this method.
One of my goals this year is to learn how to cook for my one year old and I have to admit- I’m all at sea! So this video is a good jumping off point to see how experienced Mums do this type of thing! X
I absolutely love this video I also have different children taste put issues in our house as well what two kids like one kid does not it’s a constant rotation so I took all of their favorite foods for breakfast lunches and dinners and decided to do it that way I also am vegan which my kids are not so my meal prep is totally separate for my children however buying only the meals that we love is we is what’s making our meals so much easier to create and budget out for
Most of the time I find myself stuck and lost when planning my breakfasts, lunches and sometimes dinners. I'm on a weigh loss diet (not so strict) and I get stuck while planning and then actually cooking what I chose. That's where my spread stays blank. I want to improve my lifestyle, but I haven't yet figured out a way to organize this and get it to actually work for me :(
What about creating a grocery list? That’s the time consuming part. If you wing it so often how do you know you have the ingredients? Having the same meal 2 days in a row would not fly for me or my family. Lol
Great tips and noticed, as you're talking about food - a bandaid on your finger! Hopefully, not hurting.... anyhow, complements for very well made videos.
How can I meal plan for one person?I usually end up a lot of food leftover.Still make meals for 4 or more people. It's only me now and I get tried of soup and sandwiches.
Try meal prepping and storing staples separately that can be combined into different meals like rice, chicken, and side salad. It's a great meal as is but could also be a chicken wrap or rice bowl. Having different kinds of sauces, dressing, and spreads/dips changes the flavors a lot. Frozen items, especially ones that can be tossed in the microwave or pan without thawing, can be used to add quick variety without cooking the whole bag.
Hi, i love the mel planner sheets, are they designed for the big or the classic? I've just started using the happy planner and i've seen a few insert sheets that i like but can only find them for the classic, will they fit the big?
Do I actually need all of these planners, it’s just me with no kids, well a bf too…but I’m thinking the personal w/ daily, family, home and project sections planner in classic, the work (catch all) planner and personal planner are enough. What do you suggest?
I get a kick out of how modern parents consult their families on dinner plans. My mom sat the food on the table and we ate. I don’t remember ever saying anything about dinner
good evening, this is the first video i dislike from you. This is because you plan the same food 5 times a month. when are you really going to cook for yourself and your kids? we here in the Netherlands are used to eating cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, stew, chicory dish and other vegetables for dinner. sometimes spaghetti or tacos but not 5 times a month. And what do you plan for breakfast and lunch? I am looking forward to your answer.
I see nothing wrong with planning around family favourites. It reduces waste and and there is plenty of opportunity to add side dishes or try new recipes. Sometimes young children are not very adventurous when it comes to food. As a child I would not have been very keen on cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. It's far better to have a plan of basic meals that the family enjoys than to have to answer the 'What's for dinner?' query after a long working day.
I dislike the tone of your criticism. Some children will only try new fruits and vegetables if it is presented to them in a familiar way. Hence there are hundreds of ways to makes spaghetti and tacos. Whose to say she is not incorporating those ideas into those nights. For example, I am vegan but my family isn’t so I have learned to swap out some of their favorite meals for vegan versions (ie. lentil meatloaf, Mac and cheese made with butternut squash, mushroom fajitas,etc.). So when are you going to cook some variety for your kids because your comment suggests that you only cook cauliflower, Brussels sprout and chicory, Karen?
When I make my meal plans I only write down what’s for dinner only. There are so many choices in my fridge and pantry for breakfast and lunch that are easy to make. I usually make pans of biscuits and sausage and freeze them, they have cereal (hot or cold), eggs and breakfast meats. Lunch is usually soups, sandwich or leftovers. The dinners are what is hard to plan. She’s just giving you a sample of what she does. Still a great video for folks that have no clue and a better option than eating out every night and spending a lot of money that people can save by cooking at home.

Freeze the left overs... that's 3 meals in the freezer or 2 in the freezer and 1 for next days lunch/dinner if more suitable ❤
You can cook the first week of the month divide them in 4 or 5 portions and have a whole month dinner supply. That's how I do it, we are 3 people.
