Thanks Dusty, your videos are outstanding. I really like how here and in your other videos you take into account the physics of jumping- like how your body has to be out of the way in order for the bike to fly off of ramp and how if you feel your body push into the ramp then it’s too far forward. You provide solid “whys” rather than just telling us things to do. In the last month or so your thoughtful explanations and videos have helped me progress from sketched-out jumping noob to confident intermediate jumper. Soooooo helpful! Next step is to work in some style :) It looks like your Shred Academy endeavor is getting off the ground now and it’s like a biker going up the ramp: it hit the bottom in attack position and now has its weight back preloading the suspension. Next is the explosion off the lip and into full fight! I hope this contribution helps it get into position to soar for a long time to come.
Honestly I don’t know what to say. From the bottom of my heart thank you. You just took so much stress off my shoulders. More videos coming your way, how to get steezy series coming out soon. Please let me know if I can help you in any way.
@@Theshredacademy You're welcome Dusty. What I learned from your videos took so much stress off my shoulders with every jump I've made lately, you have no idea 😂 I have lots of work to do to absorb your existing content and look forward to what you have next- keep shredding!
Your video titles are like you opened up my head and took out all the questions I’ve had for a decade! I think this format of revisiting subject areas you’ve already covered in earlier videos, but digging into them from a different angle is great. It leads to new nuggets of gold each time and really reinforces the learning. The point you’ve been making about needing to get the whole motion done inside the wheelbase of the bike has been a recent one that has really helped me visualise what I’m trying to do better and answered a question I had in my mind forever about whether you preload earlier or explode faster for faster jumps.
Thank you so much for making these videos. As a beginner who wants to know everything before trying anything I've spent hours watching various tutorials on everything MTB related and this series you're doing is the best. Always happy when I see you've made a new upload and appreciate the regularity of your videos as well!
Thank you for taking the time to make this videos. Keep up the good work Dusty. The lessons I got from you helped me a lot on my jumping progression. 🎉
Thats a serious boost on that last jump!! Working on my boosting lately, whats gettimg me is fear of the overshoot. Im going too fast and need to slow down and just land on top of the tables until I get more comfortable with the legit boost technique.
@@in_10z it’s a close call to speed up do account for the speed loss in deeper suspension preloading or to slow down to not over shoot. It’s a fun line that you come to learn over time. Cheers for the moment
Well. I have definitely been compressing my body weight into my suspension. I've been leaving lips early and I'm pretty sure this is why. Thanks for that. I've been really successful with jumps even relatively big ones, but I could tell something was a little off. This is probably it.
I definitely have to practice. I tried my last ride to J-hop compressing on the pedals. I noticed I got more air but didn't clear it. I was going a lot slower from fear of crashing.
Depending on the jump there is some leeway to each side pop, speed distance. It does come with time. Keep noticing the difference in each Jump. Try to used video as well honestly I see things in my own jumping every time
A question that I suspect you already planning to cover: if you want to add a whip or a table when doing a boosted jump, when do you initiate the bar turn? Are you doing it as soon as you leave the lip while you’re still pulling yourself forward on the bars, or are you waiting until you’re back over the top of the bike at the apex of the arc?
@@woody2505 thanks for the suggestion on the list!!! But short answer is the whip is always going to initiate on the lip. The table, that’s a little easier to learn boosting. Essential your letting the bike come higher by tabling on the accent of the arc.
Do you actually pull on the bars to get the front wheel higher. Or just lean back straightening the arms. I’ve been going dead sailor trying to pull too hard which is frustrating
Kind of sound like your a dead sailor. Which would mean your leaving the bike behind off the lip of the jump. It’s hard to say for certain with out seeing. I do offer 1 on 1 video coaching on my website and as part of Patreon memberships. It can be super helpful. I use the same program on your supplied video as I use in my videos and I send you back a video with coaching verbally and with graphic annotations

does boosting give you more distance. I heard on steep jumps it creates less distance?
are you applying any pressure through the bars into the fork as you roll through the transition towards the lip?
