Great work Brent, love your Tmax series. I think you hit the sweet spot of covering all the important details, without repetition ( and folks can always skip past any points they already know about ) while still being thorough. Its a shame you didn't take the opportunity to install the Malossi 560 kit with uprated cams and valves, but i guess cost was prohibitive ?
Thanks! Very cost prohibitive. It's something like $1600 for the 560cc and cams. I assume a tuner would be beneficial at that point, so call it $2000. I've always figured that if I need more power, for $2000 I'll sell the TMAX and get something else. If I ever have a lot of cash burning a hole in my pocket, then maybe.
@@49ccscoot Yeah, I'm kinda keen, but more than happy with my tmax perormance ( besides, i have sportbikes too ) but i like to modify too, decisions decisions
Nice install 💯 Tell ya something you might get a laugh ! My friend bought a used Maxx & it started overheating, then wouldn't start. So trying to diagnose the problem he pulled the top-end & it actually had a piece of wood paneling for a head gasket 💯 needless to say, motor was a lost cause lol. Just when you think u heard everything, ran long enough to almost make it home 😔. Keep up the good work dude 🎬👍 Salute 😎
hey brent hope your well i did what you told me to look at i replaced the clutch assembly the belt and the variator kit with 6 1/2 g. rollers and look at the gears and found nothing to way it slips to a stop not die at all but now pops in the carb. im still lost why it happens thank you my friend
Maybe it's running lean and/or has a vacuum leak. By your description, it sounds like it would have to be multiple issues, because the same thing shouldn't cause it to pop through the carb and for the clutch or CVT to slip.
thank you brent i have not changed the intake o ring it's and the vacuum line is the fuel pump and there's no seal leaking putting oil on the belt and the plug is dark a bit and gap
Great job man. I appreciate the work and effort to do all those things explain and recording at the same time. I have a question also. I removed the injection body for cleaning. Removed everything it was possible and merged to soun sonic cleaner. Everything is like brand new. The thing is about the o'rings.. Yamaha wants an arm and a leg for 9 o'ring. What kind of o'rings did you use? Also the idle system that is screwed with 3 screws at the bottom of the throttle body has a rubber seal and Yamaha doesn't have it at all. Best regards. I appreciate
I used all Yamaha parts. The o-rings for the intakes were about $2-3 each for example, but by the time I would have tried to figure out the exact sizing and most likely ordered some small bulk amount, it's way easier and probably just as cheap to go with Yamaha. Plus, this thing isn't that much fun to take apart if you get something wrong and have a leak.
@@49ccscoot Man. Thank you for the quick reply. I appreciate very much. At this time i am trying to find bulk case with o'rings suitable for fuel. Have you take out the two screws under the throttle body that mixes the air? I cant find hiw many turns to screw them. Inside those holes there are some timy o'rings. I hope i will find them. Yamaha Greece Athens wants 57euros for 9 orings....
@@mrtzampos I left the screws in the throttle body. Sounds like it's a little late now, but for any adjustment screws the best practice is to turn the screws all the way in and count the turns as you do before removing them. Make a note of that and then install them just as you found them. Doesn't help you right now, but at least this can be a learning experience. Good luck on the o-ring hunt. I'm not sure if it works the same in Greece, but in the US we have parts sites that ship directly from Yamaha but offer lower prices than if you go to a dealer. Partzilla is one that I use regularly.
Getting there anyway. I've watched vids of turbo TMAXs before I got mine. Very cool and very much not for me. Too much money and too much trouble. I've got 2Ts for that.
so much useless info.. ppl who need to know whats up and down on the ie throttle body probably doesnt even drive scooters.....on gasoline. they are 99% electric.
This is where things get weird. I have some people tell me there needs to be more info and go slower and other people tell me there should be less info and shorter videos. I do the best I can. I try to include plenty of info so no one should miss major points, but skip and speed things up so each video isn't 4 hours long. If someone doesn't like the detailed explanations, they can skip around, and I've been trying to include chapters to make that easier. If the details aren't there and someone wants them, they can't get them from the video. Some things that seem obvious like which way the throttle bodies go only take up a few seconds. I'm a detail oriented person so there's nothing worse than "installation is the reverse of removal" when it's clearly more involved to assemble than disassemble something.
Nice to see it getting assembled again. 👍
My Monday just got better 😊

That's a new one to me! If he found BBQ sauce in the oil, then maybe someone tried to use their TMAX as a smoker.
Good to see some progress. Days are getting shorter.
Good riding seasons pass way too quickly.
Nice work
Please I need your help on my Tmax 500

What about the piston rings? Don't you have to check them out?
Not at this point. That's usually saved for if you notice oil control issues or low compression.
did u get to the crankshaft? i want to see it lol
I never had to get that deep into it.
pretty cool
9:20, no oil on the cam lobes and bearings?
I know I used assembly lube and oil. You can see the moly assembly lube. Thought it was mentioned in the vid.
@@49ccscoot apologies, that explains why the lobes and journals are so 'dirty'.
@@Visionery1 I think I went over it in an earlier vid and then didn't go over it again here.
Glad to see your Tmax back together! Time for a turbo upgrade! ;)

Just cuz it’s obvious too you doesn’t mean it’s obvious to others. This video is gonna be useful for years to come
