I just started using cakewalk, I appreciate you putting this in very simple form so I can grasp it. I predict I will be watching hundreds of UA-cam videos to learn how to use this program. Thank you for your help!
You're awesome. I've been stuck trying to teach myself some of this stuff for months and you just taught me more than I've figured out so far. Thanks so much!
Except...why do they always have to put in their own twist? For beginners, if this is supposed to be, then USE the internal one supplied. Why add complexity, I clicked on this to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and its over to a different plugin. Trying to learn cakewalk and finding very little for actual beginners regarding MIDI, and recording audio from the MIDI CC file, etc. The overview is found all over the place, but HOW DO YOU loop it? How do you duplicate it? How do you record it to a track as audio? Mainly I was hoping it would go into how you duplicate this over several bars, then possibly edit (bpm, or drums hit) just one section....
Mr. Z, You are yet another reason for Yanks to love Canada (and Canadians). Great series. Ty. Plz permit me only to suggest that you go a bit slower (!) when you open CW windows (e.g., ~04:55). Thanks again, eh.
Thanks for the tutorial, I have a question though. If I want to put my own samples into Sitala is there a way I can put the individual samples through a high pass filter or some effects before doing so? Do I do it an other software like audacity or can I do it straight in cakewalk?
Question sir......so if I'm using the step sequencer to program a drum beat for a song and for example my drum pattern on the verse is going to be different than the chorus. Do I have to have a unique track for each different beat? Or can I preserve what I've done in the sequence for the verse and then open a new blank pattern sequencer on the same track to make the chorus? Pretty new to this and appreciate any time and input from you or anyone else in the community.
Is Cakewalk capable of recording a full accustic drum kit? While I decide on which DAW will best fit my needs, I'd like to get used to recording, setting levels, and eventually making drum cover videos. Would Cakewalk be a good choice?
Thanks for tutorials and appreciate if you could provide a link or tutorial how to use step sequencer for a full song with amble guitar SC for rythm chord progression and lead. its too hard to find help from their site. cheers!!
really helpful but my audio reader goes so fast , when i make a drum beat it goes way to quikly and its opposite to whats happening on your screen ... idk how i can change it
I'm new to Cakewalk and already have a problem with step sequencer. Whenever I try to open up the step sequencer of another track, it keeps showing the view from the first track only. Even when I successfully open up the view for that particular track, it is blank. The only way to view the saved pattern on each track is by going through piano roll and staff view multiple times and returning to step sequencer. It'll be very appreciated if you or anyone in the community could answer!
thank you for your effort its really helpful. I have one question when I select G3 it sounds different to yours. Its setup o 43 so I dont know whats different. Do you know what the problem is?

There's no sound in drum pro in the step sequencer whereas it works fine when I use it through the virtual controller or just from the mouse. I'm kinda stuck. Kindly help
I am able to see the drum kit and hear the drum kit througu my interface. But once I drag the preset beat from the list beside drums into cakewalk and hit play. I dont hear anything. No idea what to do because my input echo is on.
Thank you Zane for this beautiful tutorial but I have a question, when I make beats just like you did, it doesn't lasts for whole song, I mean, I couldn't figure out how to turn the beats to a loop which continues for the WHOLE SONG.
Late answer for others that may want to know. There is a loop button just right of the clock. You must also mark the section you want to loop on the ruler above the track.
I downloaded Sitala & it works fine if I open it as a stand-alone program, but in cakewalk all of the samples sound really distorted and over-driven. What settings could be causing this?
if i change the tuning of say the cowbell and add it into the track and then change the tuning again how do i add that different sounding cowbell into the same track, when changing the tuning for one it changes it for all the previous ones

There are some online sites that will do this quickly and free. Just put your music in, add a pic, hit convert and it creates the video for you to upload to UA-cam. Just search google for "turn mp3 into video" and you'll find some.

So you can still download this version of Sitala for free. If you want that newer version you’ll need to purchase a license.
They recently released version 2 which is not free. But if you scroll down to the “downloads” section in the writing at the bottom of that section you’ll see a link to the free “old version” which is the one that I used in this video.
I have downloaded (drum beat 63) (I think thats its name), the drums work and everything, but it won't allow a step sequencer !, how do I fix that please ?
I don’t know what drum beat 63 is but if it’s a plugin then you can load it into a track in Cakewalk then open the step sequencer and use that. If it’s a standalone program that doesn’t have a step sequencer then it doesn’t have one. If it’s a bunch of drum samples then you would need to use a sampler plugin. Then you would load the drum samples, that you want to use, into the sampler plugin and then use the step sequencer in cakewalk.

The new version does. The one shown in this video can still be downloaded for free. On their site go to the downloads section and at the bottom of that little section it says “our old version is still available for free” the link is there. The “old version” is the one in this video as this is an old video.

If you create a step clip the way I show in the video, it will appear in your project and you can copy and paste it however you need. If you created a step clip the way I show in the video and it’s not appearing in your project then I don’t know what’s going on with it.
Or another option is to grab the “old version” of Sitala from their website that is still available for free on their website. You’ll notice on their site that it says the new version is not free but the older version (which is used in this video) is still available for free.
