Burlington Northern 50

- March 2, 1970, after decades of attempts, a "mega merger" of the "Hill Lines" "super railroads" was completed, creating a giant, the Burlington Northern.
Though the railroad only operated until the end of 1996 (though the BNSF holding company was formed a year before), the cascade green scheme has survived 50 years.
Any fans of this channel know that the BN is a personal favorite.
To celebrate the "Golden Jubilee" or the "Semi-centennial / Quin-quandary" of the BN, I've once again compiled clips of BN power. Like before, this is pure BN green power, all the locomotives on the trains shown are in BN paint. The clips range in age from 2-8 years, as most recently it's much harder to find cascade green locomotives without other colors (specifically orange) with it.
So this video, as "purist" as it can be, tries to showcase the BN, as it likely would've been.

One of two of my mother’s childhood railways.
The Burlington northern railway has to be my favorite. Awesome video!
The same here for me as well. When I was in high school at the time of theBurlington Northern railroad I read the book called American Railroads. There was the story of the Great Northern & James J. Hill. The emblem of the Great Northern was & still is my most favorite railroad emblem. The Great Northern didn’t get no land grants from the Government at all, neither didn’t Spokane, Portland & Seattle. James J. Hill was known to work along side the track crew shoveling snow, he was very smart. 10 years ago I read in trains magazine about the author who was in the Air Force wrote an article of his train ride on Christmas when he was going home, he to,d about the free dinner that was being served in the diner on the Empire Builder which is why I was always a fan of the Great Northern and later Burlington Northern & the Santa Fe and I ‘m a fan of the BNSF.
We are still working under the BN agreement here in the northwest, a lot of the guys I work with didn't care for the 96 merger.
If SD40-2's had a notch 20 I would love to hear that high pitch pearcing sound as they are passing by all the time. Miss the good ole days when there were 3-6 on a unit grain train snaking through the great Glacier National Park.........BN forever!!!!
I like bnsf and csx and union pacific t4s
Love the BN. Great video!
Thanks!
@@NorthlandTrains You're welcome!
I still live 2 block from the chi to aurora's. 3 track mainline im.60 now
THEY NEED TO BRING THE CASCADE COLORS BACK!
My father worked at RI then CNW then in 1991 he switched to the BN as he didnt want the decrease in pay and already figured the CNW was gonna be gone soon .....the BN was is favorite employer....the same month of the BNSF merger was the same month he found out he had a brain tumor....
Great idea and video
Thanks!
Do u know what time trains go through Cambridge MN by chance I’m going railfanning tomorrow and I’m thinking of heading to Cambridge
Trains do not have any schedule and may appear at any time. Cambridge is on BNSF trackage, but UP and CP exercise rights on the division and run their own trains between the cities and the ports.
Weird horn
