It’s only people who dk ball who says he’s better. When JB can’t get his shot going he struggles to impact the game. Last night was the example of why Tatum is better, he can shoot 30% and still impact winning. Brown has stepped up massively on defense, but his playmaking isn’t there yet. Not to mention Tatum is also the best rebounding wing in the league. Averaging 10+ rebounds in 2 straight playoffs

Hes been fantastic finding the open guys since he's being doubled near the post. Also his versatile defence guarding Mavs centers is really helping prevent those lobs
he went 6-22 but still won a finals game, his team is 6-0 this playoffs when he shoots worse than 40% - the only 'star' with this luxury
I don't get Tatum hate he's a great player, does a lot for his team, and doesn't talk too much. Seems pretty alright off the courta, even as a mav fan, I don't get it at all.

@@_ripVanWinkle_part of the reason he still won the finals game when he goes 6-22 is because basketball is more than just scoring. He’s been a great playmaker, great rebounder and great defender. It’s okay, I wouldn’t expect someone who doesn’t watch the games and just rolls with narratives to know that.
Tatum demanding a double team is one of the most important parts of the Celtics success. His numbers may not say it, but Tatum’s eye test is just as good as ever. He looks more composed than he ever has and is playing way more mature than you would expect a 26 year old to.
Russillo and Bill Simmons were at the game and said he had the worst body language you could imagine all game.

He is doubled everytime he touches the ball near the post and he's punished them for it by finding the open guy. He's also probably exhausting himself guarding the centers and fighting them for Rebs. He knows he doesn't have to score for the team to win. He's been incredibly versatile asides his efficiency

Kenny your take on the halftime show is my thoughts exactly. To the tee. Why do they need 5 people if they’re not saying anything? Why do we get 5 minutes of commercials and then a 15-second highlight with a voiceover, followed by 5 more minutes of commercials? I literally went to the grocery store during halftime and had more fun than I would have with the game on.

Kenny, while I do agree that Tatum is not Luka or Jokic, I have to disagree with him not being in the same tier as Embiid. Maybe it is my bias as a Celtics fan, but I would rather have a guy who is known to show up in the playoffs versus a guy who disappears as soon as the regular season ends.
This finals run has shown me most basketball fans are casual watchers/never played the sport competitively. U can shoot 6/22 and still be the most impactful player on the team. Especially when ur doing every other aspect of the game besides scoring elite.

The White-Holiday back court is easily the best defensively in the league, but also super complimentary on offense.
On both sides of the ball I’d describe White as finesse and utilizing his length and Jrue as power and utilizing his strength.
White is most effective at shooting quickly or over guys, or getting into the lane for floaters and finesse finishes, which stretches the defense. Jrue is most effective with his head down drives/post-ups, putting pressure on the inside.
On defense these same descriptions apply as white is great at fighting around screens and contesting shots while Jrue is great at stopping more physical or slow-paced creators (white would guard curry, jrue would gaurd luka)
They’re literally the guard versions of JB and JT as JB is a power player on both sides and Tatum is a finesse player on both sides. Have those two archetypes sharing the court in harmony is really incredible and credit to the players and coaches of Boston.
They both are peak role players right now, where they’re both producing at a nearly all star level in terms of impact.

As far as Tatum's rankings in the league goes, I understand not putting him in the top 4. Giannis and Jokic are clearly 1 and 2 in the league, and Luka and Steph are definitely arguable. But other than that I don't know what more Tatum has to do? He's the best wing defender in the league at this point, we've already seen him average 30. He's won his entire career as the best player on his team. Shai has had 1 good season. Embiid has numbers but consistently loses in the playoffs. Lebron and KD are not what they used to be. Kawhi is great but he's hurt so much and even when he's healthy he's not the defender he used to be. I'm not trying to dog on those guys, because they're all still great, but Tatum is absolutely good enough to be in the conversation with them. I genuinely think that if you swap Tatum with any of those guys, those teams come out better and the Celtics get worse. Some of that comes down to roster construction, but Tatum could easily put up MVP numbers on a team that asks him to do that. The only reason he isn't is because it's better for the team if he's doing what he's doing. If you have some of this guys ahead of him, fine. It's personal opinion. But how can you not have him in that conversation?

Stats have ruined basketball conversation so much. Tatum absolutely was the most important player in game 2, he drove and dished on damn near every single play, and was also valuable on defense. Tatum's issue is that being a great all around player doesn't get MVP votes if your fadeaway isn't falling
