  • Buster Keaton did many promotional films. This is one of his last, in color, he did for Eastman Kodak to promote their new Instamatic cameras. I'm sure he influenced the gags and story structure, as this was a silent comedy film that mimicked his earlier silent films.
My friend Greg Kimble and I did an unofficial restoration of this film 14 years after the Laughsmith.com restoration--correcting color as much as possible from a very faded and damaged 16mm print. We got rid of scratches, dust, a few splices, stabilized gate weave, and on the soundtrack we removed the usual 16mm optical sound clicks and pops. We even created an ersatz stereo version of the wonderful score created for this film!
I don't own ANY rights for this film. It belongs to the Eastman Kodak Company. This film was never re-issued and only Heaven knows if Kodak still has the negative! I'm presenting it as a restoration of a historically significant film featuring Buster Keaton, who said that "Mama" (Nina Varela) was wonderful to work with, and she was a perfect "silent comedy" actress.
